The room is old-fashioned style decorated and equipped. Sheets and towels are old and worn out. Overall, it does not give you the sense of cleanliness, comfort and luxury.
I did not like the breakfast at all - the room was dark and miserable, the buffet had basic food options, the coffee machines did not provide quality coffee, the juices were not fresh.
What can I say about this hotel? It is not terrible. It is not awful. But most importantly, it is not five star.
To me, five star means class, quality, and style. Sadly, this hotel had none of those. Yes, it is undergoing renovation, but that does not excuse the experience we had.
Our first room was dreadful. The hotel was practically empty, yet we were given a room with a broken window and a view that would be depressing in any city. We complained and were moved three doors down to a room with the exact same awful view, just without the broken window. Remember, the hotel was empty. After complaining again and being shown four more rooms on the same floor, they finally moved us to the third floor. That room was actually lovely.
Even in the better room, the windows looked like they had never been cleaned and were covered in what I hope was paint splatter.
Some of this may sound like nit-picking, but in a five-star hotel it matters: no remote control for the TV, no pillow for my son, very unreliable Wi-Fi, an old yellow-stained fridge, mismatched cups and saucers, and a horrible school-dinner-style tray. None of this feels five star.
The receptionist was incredibly rude. She told us she put us in the broken-window room “for the kid” and because it was quiet, even though there were only three guests in the entire hotel that night. When we asked to move, it was the bellboy, I think his name was Alex, who finally pushed to get us a better room.
Breakfast was awful. Burnt sausages and bacon, terrible coffee, poor juice. It was not even on par with a basic budget hotel, and this is meant to be five star.
The swimming pool area just felt tired. Not terrible, but clearly in need of care and attention.
Please do not stay here. I am sure there are much better hotels in Tirana, but this is not one of them.
