If you like Indian cuisine, you should try Gulab in Elkhart, IN. The restaurant's interioir is attractive, bright, and clean. The food is great. My wife had Chicken Tikka, I had Malai Kabob, and both were delicious--just the right amount of spice. Our friends had Chicken and Vegetarian Biryani; they loved both. We also enjoyed Spinach Naan , Garlic Naan, and Vegetable Samosas. This was our second time at Gulab. We look forward to returning.
Prices are reasonable. Most entrees are $14 or $16.
In addition to chai tea and soft drinks, the restaurant serves beer and wine.
Stayed three nights for a ND football game. Very nice - a little outdated BUT clean and comfortable.
Needs some improvement in care and maintenance but the desk staff and I believe owner were all exceptionally courteous, kind and quick to fix / listen to what I shared with them concerning shortcomings, such as: first off they put us in a room that was not supposed to be rented at least at that time the 4th floor window was wide open and had a smell in the room obviously they were doing some cleaning or something and accidentally put us in there , so we immediately went back downstairs and got a new room and they apologized for that misrake, in the new room was only 1 washcloth for bathing, no tissues nor the customary small tablet and pen, the bathroom mirror frame was broken and hanging down, evidently the maid who made up the room prior did not realize that top sheets go under the quilt not on top the quilt... as we found the bed to have the sheet on the top with the quilt on the bottom, also the quilt was a queen size quilt which someone marked out and marked K on it, but clearly was too small for the king size bed. We did find the room to be clean and organized so basically it's just a matter of them paying attention to details and fixing the mirror... but though these details caused us to go to the desk or call to request these items that were missing and after driving for 10 hours and being very tired it was not convenient to have these details overlooked but I gave them a four because the room was clean, they were very courteous, apologetic and quick to try to replace the missing items if the price was great
Our room smelled of smoke and a stale smell. It is an old hotel, but they need to work on the freshness in the rooms.
Good surroundings
Clean! Why this place is only rated at 3.56 I have no idea. Well yes I do. It's the hangry Karen's, yes hangry. Read the reviews their looking for eggs Benedict and steak for breakfast. Or their complaining they found a hair, yes a hair in the tub. These bathrooms and rooms are clean. So you know their down at the front desk on the beat out trying to get something for free. Acting like they just spent $450 a night. Gimme a break, I travel the Midwest for work and it is by far one of the nicest hotels for the price.
Clean and comfortable
Hi there! The hotel was fine, just a
We stayed for one night while on a road trip. The bed was clean and the mattress was comfortable. The room is dated and showed some wear, such as a torn sheer curtain and what appeared to be multi-colored paint splatters on a bed table, chair, and wall, but overall the room appeared clean. It was a very hot day and the air conditioner was quiet and working well, which was much appreciated. The bathroom was clean, but the towels could use replacing. Our room was on the top (4th) floor at the back of the building, so it was quiet. The hotel is in walking distance to some restaurants. Breakfast is served daily, but unfortunately on weekends it isn't served until 7 AM and we had to get on the road earlier than that, so we were unable to take advantage of that amenity.
The Bad: The property needed upgrading. The room and property were not thoroughly vacuumed. The shower water was lukewarm at the very hottest. The milk was spoiled at the breakfast.
The Good: The bed was comfortable and the sheets and towels felt very clean.
Just gross.
It was ok. Toom was old and needs updated. Brd too soft
Hated the low water, pressure and shower with water restrictors had to stand there and wait forever to get enough water for a shower
The staff was friendly and attempted accommodating us. Breakfast had a good variety, but offered a lot of sugary foods. The scrambled eggs had discoloration(likely form the pan used for cooking them) at breakfast one morning. The toilet in our room shut off and on constantly 24/7. Despite alerting staff, it was not fixed over a 3 night stay. The toilet also needed plunged and the staff just handed us a plunger. Not professional. There were cobwebs in the corner of the room. It's quite outdated. But the beds and bathroom were clean.
Simple
.
Room was nice snd clean, although strange that they put the sheet on top of the comforter. They had a good selection of hot food for breakfast but seemed to not replenish it quickly or with enough . We were there around 7:30 and they were out of eggs and sausage and when it was replenished it wasn’t enough for everyone present. Other than breakfast we were happy with all else.
The room was pleasant and the bed very comfortable. Was a nice breakfast. Everyone was very nice and welcoming. Would definitely stay here again.
My stay was very comfortable. The front desk woman was very pleasant. Everything was very clean looking and welcoming. I would definitely stop here again on my travels.
I’ve stayed at many Country Inn and Suites and this one seemed like no one had updated it since 1985. The bathroom had cracked floor tiles that moved every time you walked on them. I feared cutting my feet on them. The carpets, wall paper, and bedding all needed to be replaced.
