This was such a great little hotel. It was out of the way, but right in town at the same time. The lobby and dining area (only open for the complimentary breakfast) reminded me of an old English manor. The breakfast was great, scrambled eggs, home potatoes, and crisp bacon, along with the other regular continental items. We walked out the back door from the second floor right onto a super cute Main Street. This place was just a great little treasure. We loved it!
The location is perfect- just outside is the main street with many excellent restaurants. The property needs updating - smells like cigarettes, carpets stained, damaged wallpaper and bathroom fixtures. the staff is pleasant and the room was clean , bed comfort was okay. we've stayed here before , due to price and convenience, but i feel this could be a wonderful place if they fixed it up a bit.
Hotel is nothing spectacular, but the location is perfect and every member of the staff that I dealt were just a pleasure to deal with.
Breakfast
Excellent front desk service, kind, accommodating.
Great location right on a cute Main Street of a small town. Can just walk out to many restaurants. Room was spacious. Bathroom really nice. Everything in brand new condition. Only the breakfast was so-so.
Was very noisy until 3:00am out in the streets.
Continental Breakfast from 7:30-10am. Sausage, bacon, scrambled egg trays all empty from 8:15am-9am. Extremely limited hot food selection during our visit.
Great location convenient to downtown, walk out the door and you're there.
Love it here
Very old and outdated, rooms dirty and smelly...Not worth the price I paid, we don't stay final night...got what we had, and drove all night...mattress and pillows awful...
The hotel was quiet and the staff were very kind. The amenities were nice as well.
Quaint and charming.
Location is great for walking to bars and breakfast. Hotel needs to be updated
Hotel looked nice from the street. Driving up the property was nothing special, due to simple/ minimal landscaping. Available parking in front of building. Pleasant greeting from worker in lobby. Quick easy transaction. Offered information on the breakfast hours. Room was large with a working fireplace (easy to use). Everything was clean. Opening day perfect, no but overall it was a comfortable overnight. The breakfast had enough offerings that we were able to grab and go. Location was very close to the colleges. Competitive or slightly better rates than other hotels in the area. Honestly not sure why low reviews. We read and were aware of reviews before we booked but didn't experience anything on this stay to reflect the negative reviews. Glad we booked The Marx Hotel.
When 1st opened probably 20 years ago it was the Gem of Oneonta. I don't think they have put a dime into since.
Bathroom sink countertop wad a huge crack right down the front center. Was scared to lean on it. Shower flooded the bathroom floor.
Room was stale in decor and aroma.
Staff was SUPER NICE!!!!
Nice front desk staff!
The staff was very helpful, but wheelchair access could be much improved at the entrance. An upward incline on brick is not compatible with ease for wheelchair bound people. Thanks to the staff for being more than accommodating.
Great location, would rate as a 3 star. Hotel is outdated and feels a little dingy
Nice ans
