Broadway Mansions Hotel - On the Bund

Location of the hotel was it's #1 asset. I love it!

The size of the room was sufficient, and the bed was nice and firm, but some of the furniture felt worn. It was nice that bottled water was provided every day. Buffet breakfast was traditional Chinese for the most part, but there were several western options as well. Staff was very helpful and assisted with several issues we had. Location is within walking distance to the amazing riverside where there is a dazzling display of lights, as well as Nanjing Road, which is a fantastic and classy pedestrian street. However, a little disappointed that the room with river view does not overlook the side of the Huangpu River, where the skyscrapers are located, but instead, has a view of a river perpendicular to the Huangpu. But otherwise, the hotel is well located and very much recommended.

Close to all shops and food

Hotel is in a nearly 100 year old building. Lobby felt upscale and nice, service and staff were great. There was a musty smell in hallways and room (all carpeted and “smells” like it may be the original from 1939) but somewhat understandable due to age of building. Service elevator is unmarked and in regular guest areas on floors… we only knew when we were joined in the elevator by a staff member with a large and very stinky garbage can on our trip down to breakfast from a higher floor, and wound up lost in staff area/basement.

The bed is by far the least comfortable I’ve ever experienced. Not exaggerating, I contemplated sleeping on the stinky carpeted floor. Have stayed at around 80-85 hotels internationally and this was by far the worst bed I have ever “slept in”. Unacceptable for any hotel in my opinion.

The good: excellent and updated lobby, nice cafe and restaurant on ground level, and frankly the location cannot be beat. Hair dryer in the room was very nice and effective. My wife was impressed with it.

Would stay again if they updated the beds. Under no circumstance would I ever willingly lie on that mattress again though. Brutal.

excellent location on the end of the Bund with a great view of the Pearl Tower and Huangpu River. luxury hotel that's steeped in early 20th century architecture and history. staff uniform includes a Fedora!

It's nice location and views. Historic and cultural. Walkable to north Bund. Most staff are very nice. This our third times stay in this hotel. But would be back again. First day checking the room has some smoking smell. 2nd day front desk gave us changed room. It's great.

2nd time in china,chose this hotel based on the great location,which is about 1km from the bund.
Took the Maglev from Pudong airport to the city.then decided to take a metered taxi from the station.was supposed to be a 20-minute drive,driver took us on a 1 hour 'tour' of shanghai!! Use DIDI at all times! no translation issues and very reasonable rates.Booked a DIDI back to airport at 5am,had one in a minute!
Anyway,there was confusion at check-in with regards to breakfast.Seems Agoda used a 3rd party to book and breakfast wasnt included.After few calls and emails,Agoda refunded me partially via Agoda cash.We did try the buffet breakfast our first morning here......all I can say is.......eat elswhere.....lets just say that all that 'hawking' you hear about.....is legit....
Room was of decent size and had partial view of the bund,which was great.Bed was comfy but air-conditioner was stuck at 25 celcius! wouldnt go cooler as it was programmed to go no lower.Staff were not proficient in English.Not being part of an international chain did have its drawbacks.CNY 500 deposit was required at check-in. Housekeeping was great and friendly
Contrary to what people tell you,one does need CASH in china.nearest ATM was a km away at the Bank of China on the bund.Googlemaps was outdated!
The main draw of this hotel was its proximity to the bund.....although it's facade does remind me of a Batman movie !

A historic hotel, right at the Wai Bai Du bridge and Suzhou river, minutes of walking to the Bund and the North Bund, great view of Yangtze River, Mingzhu Tower, the tallest Shanghai Center…..

This was a lovely hotel, perfect position for the bund with great views of the river . Breakfast was excellent with huge choice of western and local dishes and lots of staff to clear and refill quickly. The staff on reception and the concierges were polite, professional and helpful with enough English to understand us and vice versa. The lobby was lovely art deco . I highly recommend this hotel

The place was very nice. Great view of the Bund and river. Easy walk to the Pedestrian street, and of course the Bund is right there. The staff is great...and great service that door. We had a wonderful stay there. Oh...and nice breakfast too.

spent two nights, river side room, enjoy beautiful morning and night scene. surrounded by historical buildings. chinese and western style breakfast. coffee is good taste. near-by bars one block away and open to 4 am.

Good location by the Suzhou river, walking distance to the Huangpu River bank to see the oriental Pearl Tower with the tall buildings in Huangpu district, also close to the Nanjing Road. Great service from the reception to the room, twice room cleaning a day. Strongly recommended.
