This was our first time at a smaller hotel on the island and we fell in love with the place and the people over the ten days we stayed there. From the minute we checked in we felt really looked after and welcome. Trey, Terry and Manny behind the bar are attentive and know their stuff when it comes to the cocktails. Rum tasting with Trey was great, he was knowledgeable and so much fun, we really enjoyed it. The food, buffet style breakfast with eggs cooked to your choice, a la carte lunch and dinner with a couple of days buffet style. Also a BBQ one night. The food was great, always something for everyone and the waiting staff so nice too. Shout out to Elsie (hope you've not left your glasses as home again lol) Sharons (more than 1) Ann, Doris, Raquel, Tia and more I didn't get the names of and all the chefs in the background, thank you, fab food.
Hotel is about a half hour walk to Bridgetown and doesn't feel that long when you get going.
Pebbles beach is at the back of the hotel and we spent a couple of days there, rent sun loungers and get a sandwich (roll) & chips from Beachy Keen. Great fresh cooked food. We did some turtle watching here as they pop up to get some air quite close to shore so you can get a quick glimpse of them.
There's things to do, places to visit on your doorstep, The Barbados museum, George Washington House, the Garrison racetrack (seasonal meets so check before you go).
If you want to go further then you can get the bus (the white one with the burgundy stripe down them) for 3.50 BDS for anywhere on the island. Great fun playing their music as you travel.
Highlight of the stay really was the wonderful staff here, we will return as soon as we can, can't wait to see you all again.
We couldn’t stay even one night and lost $2400! We called Island Inn Before we booked (and paid) to make sure they could accommodate my celiac disease and were Promised twice the chef is sensitive to food allergies. It’s all inclusive so this was a huge selling point for my husband’s 75th birthday trip, because if I get glutened I’m sick for a week. Yes, I bring my whatever gf food I can but that’s obviously not enough. When we checked in after 36 hours traveling the reception said we only have a buffet so maybe I can eat a baked potato.. at this point I asked to speak to the chef and she said No, she’ll email him. We were showed our room that was so musty I wanted to open the window but with the lack of screens and the barbed wire 3 feet away we were nervous to. We were offered another room by the manager but obviously that doesn’t address my celiac needs. We were Lucky to book at the Radisson across the street. They were fantastic and totally accommodated my celiac disease. I went back, called, pleaded with Island Inn staff, who referred me to their sister property, Mango Inn, that they said handles refunds, and I was blocked every time by staff. Thank goodness for the Concierge, Akila, at the Radisson, who was so amazing, and professional. They took us in when we felt homeless.
We didn’t get Back A Penny from the Island Inn, not even a phone call or an apology.
They stink!!!
What can we say. 2nd visit to the Island Inn Hotel. Just wonderful! The amazing staff including the legend that is Elsie, Carol, Sharon, Angela, Doris ,Terry, Tre and the wonderful Ann and the rest of the team. Ms Brown is just so friendly and down to earth. Loves to mix with the guests and is very hands on. They all treat you like family when you return. The food this year was particularly wonderful. Love the fact the hotel is small and non corporate and every year we make more friends. We find the location perfect for us. We will be back!
Quality. Cosy , relaxed. From first arrival Sharon checked us in and gave us the info that we needed . We had a week at the hotel and are very experienced Barbados visitors ( over 10 years) visiting for 8 weeks a year . I absolutely love this small hotel as the staff are personal centred , remember your name , what you like to drink, and are so personable and polite. The ladies that run the kitchen are so lovely and it’s nice hearing them laughing and loving what they do together as a team. Nothing is too much and whilst there chef Karla cooked us our barracuda that we caught on a fishing trip. Hopeful one day to get married there as it’s my new favourite place 🥰, thank you island inn , you knock the spots off your sister hotels for me .
Well situated hotel near Carlisle and pebbles beach. Food was ok although sparse at times.
Breakfast was supposed to start with buffet at 7am
But the staff would just send you away until 7.30, saying we are not ready.
People of the island are so friendly although staff at this hotel were very abrupt , and reception staff would rather look at the floor that say hello.
this has got to be one of the best boutique hotels in Barbados. The hotel has 24 rooms; our accommodation was a garden room with a balcony overlooking the garden and plunge pool. The room was large with a walk-in wardrobe and large bathroom.
The staff are excellent, friendly and couldn't do enough to make our stay enjoyable.
The food and drink are good, a la carte menu and service for lunch and evening meal.
The option to use the two sister hotels increase your choice.
Great Stay!
This was 4th time in Barbados but our first time staying at the Island Inn.
We had a nice welcome. We booked a superior garden room, which we were pleased with.
Room was large and spacious, with a large walk in wardrobe, which was really handy. Plenty of room for all our clothes and luggage. Very peaceful at night.
Handy having a fridge in the room.
Just a few niggles.
Bathroom was bright but in need of an update .
The bedrooms are quite dark, even in the day.
We enjoyed our meals. Mixture of buffet and table service.
Never went hungry, always something to choose from.
Had the pack lunches a couple of times which were very good. Book them the night before.
Cocktails were good and rum punches were strong , we found them better than the sister hotels.
Staff were friendly and helpful. As it’s a small hotel you get to know most of them all after a few days.
When we had a cloudy day we got a ZR bus towards Accra and walked back along the broad walk which was nice.
We went to both sister hotels for lunch, Mango bay , Holetown and The Sands , Worthing. Perfect for us as we had a car for 9 days and were going there anyway. You need to book the day before.
We visited the Graham Hall animal sanctuary which was fun and a lovely place to have walk.
We drove over to Bottom bay a stunning beach on the Atlantic coast.
One of the bar staff recommended us to go to the Nothing box a lovely cafe/restaurant/bar
We popped in for a drink while on our travels, it’s on the Atlantic side, stunning views , and you can walk along the cliff tops. Lovely place. Went on to Bath beach, then Bathsheba.
We also went back to Alleyens bay, Heywoods beach, Speightown,
New to us this year was Thunder bay and a lovely quiet beach just past Hole Town, Colony club beach, Heron bay.
We did Pebbles beach once and Carlisle bay a few times. (7 min walk)
We always choose to sit near the first part of Carlisle bay you come to, before the sun beds start.
Carlisle is a beautiful beach but it’s far too busy for us now. It’s heaving when there are lots of cruise ships in.
If you are going to hire a car , best to do it over the weekend , as the roads are busy on week days, come the rush hour.
Had a great holiday and thanks to all the staff at the island Inn. Hope to see you all again.
I can't understand the hype some travellers have about the Island Inn Hotel in Bridgetown. The place relies too much on it's historic location and features. Our room needed a thorough clean and lacked storage space. I've never had a clothes rail in the bathroom! The food was hit and miss, and not plentiful. Advertised as All Inclusive, but really it is Full Board with drinks. We found the staff surly. They seemed to interact with the regular travellers who were "cliquish". The entertainment was normally a loudspeaker in the corner, but the nights that we had "turns" were poor and somewhat embarrassing.
We met quite a few other guests who agreed with our feelings, and their camaraderie made the holiday bearable. I must admit that the packed lunches from the hotel were good, and we made use of them a few times, and stayed on the local beach. The hotel has two sister hotels and we visited them both. What a difference in standards there! You would not believe that they were in the same Group. Maybe I missed something, but I could have bought a secondhand car for what I spent on this holiday!
One regular guest said that the Hotel was like Marmite - and I don't like Marmite.
Small hotel near Pebbles Beach with the early morning swimming horses. Friendly, fun loving staff. Food excellent, new chef really is working hard to cover modern & classic dishes, with lovely sauces can't get enough of them. Rooms have antique furniture, large comfortable beds and are kept very clean & "housekeeping" somehow managed to service our room while we were out. The cocktails created by the 3 barmen are very popular Terry, Tre and Shamanni keep us happy , every hour is a "Happy Hour" from 10am to 11pm. Must not forget Doris, Marlene, Sharon and others who wait on us with a smile. Loved it so much have already booked to return in November. Far better than 4* holidays we have stayed in.
We visited last year, loved it so booked again. On day 2 of our recent stay we have booked again for next year. If you like marble and mirrors this is not the place for you, if you like small hotel, quaint, friendly staff, good food and drink you will love it. You will find lots of people go back and back again! To me that says a lot. We met a lot of lovely people. Only down side is that some gym equipment not working. Having said that in the time I have stayed I was only one using gym! 😀
Stayed July 24 just after hurricane Beryl, just realised I never done a review. Had a wonderful stay, perfect room next to the pool me hubby and our grandson. The staff were so friendly, the food was varied cooked fresh and was so tasty. The drinks 👍 mango dacquiris and mudslide were my fave lol.The pool was small but was perfect for cooling down in, unfortunately five out of our 14 nights the pool was out of use a bit of a pain for our grandson😢, but visited sister hotel Mango Bay for a few hours one day. Our room was perfect spotlessly clean with walk-in shower and bath and the beds were so comfy. Would definitely recommend visiting. We are returning this year but to sister hotel Mango Bay, more activities for the big kids lol. Hoping to pop down to island inn for a visit .
Part 1 This place is a little slice of heaven. So much so that I couldn’t think of any other place I would rather be, on my hard earned vacation. The staff are real people with cool personalities that actually make your holiday.! Emerge yourself in a real Barbados experience and you will not be disappointed we are arriving for our second visit tomorrow and can’t wait to update our experience
This was our third stay at this hotel and we were really looking forward to it. However we were greeted with a miserable rude receptionist. We both smiled, said hello and introduced ourselves. Not even a hello just waved to sit down. Informed us that the room wasn't ready and to get yourself a drink at the bar. We went to the room and it was ready so we took the suitcases to the room. Not a good start to the holiday.
The majority of the staff are friendly however when certain rude, non hospitable staff are on duty there is a distinct unfriendly atmosphere. If I was managing them they would be put on non performance for their attitude. A clue for them is they work in hospitality therefore should be hospitable to their guests.
However Terry as ever is a fantastic barman, hospitable and great to chat to. Sadly it depends what side of the bed Trey got out of to the mood he will be in behind the bar. The bar stocks premium spirits and Terry makes fabulous cocktails.
Food wise OK but not enough vegetables with the main course at dinner. Plus the portion size has reduced compared to our last visit. Not good for a man with a healthy appetite. Looked forward to the buffet/bbq when there was plenty of salad and vegetables.
Rooms are spacious, plenty of storage space but a little dated. Extremely comfortable bed. Could do with better lighting and hot water was an issue. Cleaned daily.
The swimming pool requires work, mosaic tiles missing around the side of the pool.
Despite some of my negative comments regarding the staff I still like the hotel, its layout and size. It is well situated short walk to Pebbles beach, Carlisle Bay and about a 20 minute walk into Bridgetown.
A little gem near pebbles beach - 30 second walk and 5 mins from the garrison, 30 mins bridgetown. Only 24 rooms , which makes it have that homely feel. All the staff are fab and always helpful and happy.
Mix of buffet and menu nights for dinner with something for everyone.
Shout out to bar staff - Tre , Terry and especially Crystal ( pictured) who make you feel part of the family and this lady is a credit to your hotel - to take words from another Barbadian ( with a twist) she ' Shines bright like a 'Crystal'
Def recommend and will return 😜
We stayed for 10 nights and can only say good things about this lovely hotel. We booked in with ease and were offered a refreshing drink. We stayed in room 4 and although a little dark it had everything we needed. Air con was spot on and the huge bed was so comfortable. The shower room with toilet and sink had a large area to shower without banging elbows etc on the walls. There is a fridge, a kettle plenty of storage space and a safe inside the wardrobe which also held an iron and ironing board, spare pillows and blankets etc. The green monkey's which hang around the hotel are amazing to see, we frequently had them sitting just outside our room. The food is buffet style for breakfast with plenty of options. Bacon, scrambled eggs, beans etc. Fresh fruit, toast, granola and cereals. Yoghurt and pastries. You won't go hungry. Lunch and dinner is alternated between buffet and table service. The food is lovely and the staff are great. A special mention to Sharon who was amazing, she made us feel so welcome. Another special mention goes to Crystal, the world's happiest and best bartender. She made us smile daily and her cocktails were spot on. The pool area is nice, and the pool is cold but refreshing, much needed with that hot sun. The hotel is a 2 minute walk to pebbles beach, $15 us for 2 sunbeds and an umbrella for the day and the beach is lovely, much quieter than Carlisle bay as less tourists from the cruises. Highly recommend the cocktails in a coconut. Its about a 25 to 30 minute walk to Bridgetown or you can grab a ZR (crazy bus) for $3.50 bds each. Check out the Tiki Bar, they have a huge array of cocktails, turn right from the hotel and head towards Hastings. The boardwalk is a lovely way to walk along the beaches. All in all it's a fantastic place to stay and being small you get to chat to other guests which was lovely. I highly recommend a stay here, we will definitely be back.
We choose the island for a 2 night pre cruise stop. We got a great deal as we booked really early.
This hotel is in a good location walking distance to all the beach clubs on Carlisle bay and a 30 minute walk into Bridgetown. A very intimate and small hotel. Staff doing multiple jobs, you’ll know everyone in 2 days!
There is also a beach 2 mins walk around the corner but I would say not quite as nice as Carlisle bay.
The rooms are a little dated but the air con was good and the bed comfortable. Fridge, safe, fan, kettle are all present.
The pool area is not very inviting and we didn’t use it opting for the beach club 20 mins away.
The breakfast is buffet and lunch and evening meals are served to you which I liked although choice is minimal. I hate getting up and down for my meals!
Pretty area for your drinks before the meal.
Some staff are super friendly and helpful Angela on reception and Elsie made us laugh.
This is a low budget all inclusive hotel.
You pays your money and make your choice.
This is a 3/4 score for me.
We have just finished our 10 night stay at the island inn.
This holiday has been a dream for us and we have been so excited to come to beautiful Barbados.
The island inn did not disappoint. From the moment we arrived we received a lovely greeting from Crystal who also helped us with our suitcases to our room.
Our room was beautiful with a comfortable huge bed and lovely bathroom with a shower. There is plenty of storage space for clothes. We had room number 19 which overlooked the pool and had a lovely patio area at the front.
The food here was the best food we have had while being on holiday. I couldn't fault it and will miss it very much.
There is a mixture of buffet meals and a la carte meals with plenty of choice supplied for both. Plenty of vegetarian options also.
The dining area at the island inn is beautiful and always impeccably clean.
The staff here have been lovely with particular mention of Sherry-Ann and Sharon. These two ladies are so welcoming and smiley and we were always pleased to see them. Sherry-Ann was very helpful in suggesting the best places to visit on the island. They are both amazing at their jobs and I feel a real asset to the island inn.
The hotel is about a minutes walk from pebbles Beach and about a 5 minute walk to Carlisle bay. Both beautiful beaches. Both of these beaches have places to eat, drink and also have restrooms.
Also within 20 minutes walking distance from the island inn is the garrison, George Washington house, Barbados museum. About a half hour walk will take you to bridgetown. There are plenty of public transport options available also.
I don't have a single negative thing to say about our stay at the island inn. We have had the best time and this hotel really is amazing value for money. We will definitely be returning in the future.
Thank you island inn for ensuring we had the best time at your hotel.
Well …. What a lovely little gem! With only few rooms everyone gets to know each other, and we made friends for life! 🥰 The food is outstanding and Sherry-Ann our regular waitress couldn’t do enough for us ❤️ always ensuring the rum and raisin ice cream was on the menu! 🤣 The hotel is generally quiet which was lovely and the evening entertainment was on only a few times during our stay, but was quality! The staff in this hotel were all lovely, however the bar staff were missing on a few occasions 🤣 the mosquitoes however were not ! OMG we were eaten alive 🤣 our room was comfortable and kept clean daily, we were by the pool and felt like we had a private pool most of the time, we were also only a couple of minutes from the beach 😊 All in all a lovely trip and would definitely recommend this place and the island, although would have to sort the mosquitoes! 🤣 xx
My wife and I travelled with friends, who were celebrating their golden wedding, as were we. We all loved the Island Inn. The small and intimate feel certainly helped make the holiday and you were never short of interesting people to chat to. We found the staff were friendly and attentive - and some were very much part of the fun (special mention for Terry and Elsie). I could quibble about small things but, when I say that the top two are the red wine being served warm and the dress code being a myth, you should realise that I really have nothing to complain about.
We found the food good, although some nights were better than others. The room sizes are generous (although an extra light wouldn't go amiss).
It's well worth a visit to the sister hotels at the Sands and Mango Bay but Pebbles Beach is probably better than either. There aren't actually many pebbles there and, if you are a snorkeller, you can see almost as many fish under the pier as you can at the Marine Nature Park.
1st time at the island inn arrived 5th Oct for 14 nites. I could not fault it in any way, booked to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary.Stayed in pool side sweet.very spacious king size bed, very clean.staff were amazing. bar staff very friendly. food very good and well presented.manageress always available very helpful. As this is a small hotel with 50 max guests get to know everyone, meet some great people. If you want a nice relaxed chilled out hotel with great staff food ect book here
