We didn’t stay - my daughter and I simply popped in to enquire about weddings there. The rather snooty receptionist looked at us and said they only did exclusive weddings, which involve all 90 bedrooms, and were we still interested?! He more or less took one look and assumed it would be out of our budget. Awful! No way would we want to hold a wedding there if some of the staff are like that.
Oakley Court is a stunning hotel, with plenty to like but plenty of disappointments - especially given the price.
The positives: a room upgrade on arrival. Always a good start. Staff are generally very courteous and helpful. The decor and the ambience of the hotel are delightful.
The negatives: £25 per person each for breakfast, which is a pretty limited buffet. Nobody actually tells you the cost of this, you just discover it when checking out.
The prices on the dinner menu are laughable. £29 for a poke ball, £15 toasties, £29 for a small beef burger with no fries, £20 for a pizza. The food was fine but not outstanding. Oh, and don't forget the service charge added to everything, including the get it yourself breakfast.
The spa is fine but small and dated. The steam room is just some big smelly plastic box, and the sauna was out of order for the duration of our stay. Not quite luxury.
The room got crazy hot in the night. We tried operating the aircon but it just blasted intermittently. Oh and don't nick any of the tiny toiletries! There's signs telling you not to. Very welcoming. Finally, my wife had a bath which somehow caused a leak in the downstairs room. Cue several visits from maintenance men and no apology for the disruption from hotel management.
I booked a long weekend with my daughters and one fiancé as a surprise break for them- initially choosing it as a venue because of the Rocky Horror connection. We’re all fans, and i thought it would please them.
As a surprise it worker beautifully, and as a stay it was even better, surpassing anything i could gave hoped for.
The Court itself is of course beautiful. The grounds are stunning. The most impressive part by a long way was the staff who could not have done anything more to make it a wonderful and memorable break for all of us.
We pushed the boat out on Friday and joined the Chef Akira Japanese fusion tasting experience. It was a very lively, fun crowd of just 12 and wirth every penny. Stunningly good food, ably hosted, beautifully presented.
Could not recommend this place enough. I absolutely loved every second of it thank you, all x
We went here for my Husband’s 70th birthday and had a lovely stay.
We stayed in the boathouse in one of the large river views and it was huge. Very comfortable King sized bed, separate seating area with armchairs, sofa and table , 2 TV’s, bath/shower stocked with cowshed toiletries, i bought the body scrub as it was so nice.
The room came with coffee & tea, little fridge with water coke and milk, plus a welcome home made cookie. There was also a snack box with crisps, popcorn and other goodies like chocolate and jelly tots.
The hotel is stunning, so many areas of beauty and interest, lots of different places to sit and enjoy the surroundings. We ate lunch on the terrace and i had the chicken salad which was superb, must try this. Husband had a burger, we had pizzas for evening meal.
The breakfast was very good, lots of choice to help yourself and you can order omelettes etc if you want. I have full English and peanut butter and banana on rye bead, plus greek yoghurt and strawberries.
There is a swimming pool, with steam room and sauna, plus jacuzzi and a full gym. We used all but the gym.
The grounds are amazing, it is right on the river and boats gently pass up and down. At night the trees are all lit up like a fairy grotto, i loved it here.
The staff were great, the service was excellent and everyone was very professional yet friendly.
We had a wonderful stay, thank you.
We were visiting Legoland and meeting friends and this was a good location. Turned out to be a great location and a great hotel. Staff were very welcoming and helpful on arrival and during our 2 night stay. Food was lovely , we had an evening meal and breakfast really good.
Lovely hotel lots of amazing rooms to sit in. Bedroom was really nice with a view over the river which was stunning.
The outside space was spectacular and we popped over to the 'River House' on the Sunday afternoon where there is a great 'Ibiza Vibe' going on - lovely sushi and pizza available and nice little bars - really buzzing but relaxing.
My 9 year old and I loved the pool , so clean and the water was clear and not full of chlorine. Next time we would like to spend more time at the hotel relaxing and riding the complimentary bikes. All in all it is a stunning hotel with a relaxed feel about it. Would definitely recommend it.
Beautiful hotel. Perfect stay with our toddler
The building inside is looking sad and tired
Staff on check in were really not very informative re what was cover in the booking and where everything was
Cocktail were very expensive £16.00 each
Ah, what a delightfully exclusive experience—assuming, of course, you're lucky enough to have booked an overnight stay (or maybe just wandered in from a period drama set). The building is stunning, the surroundings are lush, and the vibe? Oh, pure faux-member’s club chic—you know, the kind where you're neither a member nor particularly welcome.
I wasn’t even offered a humble glass of tap water (unless you are a guest you can't order ANYTHING) Instead, I was graciously directed to the nearby Monkey Island resort—a clearly well-trodden path for fellow “non-guests” like myself. Always nice when a hotel has an official overflow venue for their unwanted visitors.
And the staff? So warm and welcoming—NOT!!! Completely aligned with a fellow reviewer who noted the distinct lack of warmth. I’m guessing smiles are reserved strictly for those who pay for a suite and perhaps their soul.
As a proud member of all the Soho Houses and their charming summer pop-up next door, I mistakenly assumed there might be some connection here. Silly me! Mea culpa, indeed. Should’ve known better than to think a place advertising afternoon tea to the general public would actually, you know, serve it. Apparently, the website hasn’t been updated “in a couple of years.” Charming touch of vintage web maintenance.
So if you're ever in the area and craving a taste of elitism without the credentials, and enjoy being gently (or not-so-gently) turned away, this is absolutely the place to not be.
Needs a refurb- great families but rough round the edges.
From beginning to end, Oakley Court offers a beautiful, luxury, quintessentially British, riverside hotel experience. With the added bonus of access to Soho Riverhouse through a gate at the bottom of the garden, this summer stay was exceptional. All of the staff were approachable and friendly, my room was stunningly clean and well maintained, the bed was very comfortable, and I slept peacefully through the night. The room service breakfast was served piping hot and representative of the luxury experienced elsewhere on-site.
Whilst I can imagine a stay here might be very different if the weather didn't allow you to enjoy the outdoor space, sitting by the river and enjoying drinks and good food in the shadow of the beautiful manor was well worth the price paid. There's also plenty of lounge and bar seating indoors should the heavens open, but I personally enjoyed the ambience of being by the river the most.
I'd happily stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for something truly special in the Windsor area. You'd pay a lot more for a lot less elsewhere in London.
Unpleasant staff and manager and weird atmosphere. The place is almost empty - and perhaps they want to keep it that way.
Beautiful lake view
One of the best hotels i have ever stayed in. The owners and every member of staff so friendly and helpful. Will gladly stay again in the future.
I definitely
We had amazing stay there! Room was well cute, equipped and comfortable. We’d love to come back
The main building is stunning, and many of the annnex rooms have been remodeled. A spot that is especially appealing to those who enjoyed the Rocky Horror Picture sShow. It also has housed a large number of Hammer, Horror, films, such as Christopher Lee’s Dracula! Summer pop up being operated by SoHo House looks interesting, but we were unable to sample it, only open on weekends.
A truly beautiful setting on the River Thames! Great service, nothing stuffy! Only hiccup was air-conditioning in room. You might want to check its operation when you arrive to make sure you’re not going to have a warm evening! Thankfully, it is England and the temperature was lovely at night! The restaurant had an interesting menu. No set dining room, you choose which room in the mansion you would like to sit while dining or having cocktails. Very nice!
Wonderful stay for girlfriend’s birthday, good vibe and beautiful surroundings. Sauna and steam room could have an update but otherwise fantastic. Food superb.
Really disappointed with my visit to the river house..For such a fantastic location and great potential I feel it’s wasted.I know it’s not known for the food there as in big restaurants and a vast menu but again loads room for improvement… lobster linguine my wife ordered was terrible with one piece of of lobster,in there defence they took two portions of the bill but I would rather pay and enjoy my evening. As a local I’ve been several times but this visit by far was the worst experience.Service was really slack from certain servers not all but some..the toilets were unclean which we had to mention..just felt grubby everywhere!! I noticed on entry there was a dried patch of vomit which wasn’t good.Price for the premixed picante which I normally love were made with no passion at all so generally value for money at the moment I wouldn’t recommend I’m afraid.Generally overall a disappointment.
It’s a lovely location and the main building has several beautiful rooms to spend time in. The grounds are prettily landscaped and the places to sit by the river are really nicely done.
The rooms are quite spacious and comfortable, but it’s here that you start to smack into the list of “buts” referred to in the title.
Rates vary each day, but on the Saturday the rate for our room was over £400 excluding breakfast, which in effect means heading well towards £500 including breakfast and the obligatory service charge (more on that later). So to have towels with labels saying they have a security tag and a note saying you’d be charged if you take toiletries felt very cheap - like a budget hotel in a city centre.
I mentioned that the grounds are nice, but on the Sunday morning there were bottles and glasses from the night before by the river and little things like some of the paths having weeds growing up through them. Not terrible, just not premium.
12.5% service charge at breakfast despite mostly you have to get it yourself. Having had our second breakfast I noticed someone getting a menu, but we were never offered one. There was also a weird example of patchy service - cups of coffee ordered individually and when second cups were brought old dirty cups were not removed. On a table of six they soon mounted up.
Second day, as we sat down for breakfast as group of six we gave our three room numbers. However, two rooms got the correct charge and the third was charged for six breakfasts - again seemed to be a sign of patchy service / poor staff training. This was sorted out at checkout, but was a really odd sort of error.
Didn’t try the outside restaurant, so we had the informal menu. Burger was certainly “well done” and was very very small.
Overall….not terrible, but just not as nice as it could have been.
Well I have not actually been to this hotel, as my booking, made back in January, has been unilaterally cancelled this week, by the hotel due to an "Exclusive Use Event". Given our trip to the UK has been planned to include several hotel bookings, this is very poor behaviour from a hotel in cancelling a booking made many months before. I have had no choice but to make alternate arrangements at short notice, and additional cost. I would be wary of booking with this hotel, given the uncertainty that we experienced.
