Amazing hotel with very accommodative staff! A shout Dayan and Raj from housekeeping for making sure I had everything I needed. Staff at the 'Port's of call' restaurant were on their top game with excellent service (special mention to Dilhara and his colleagues for making sure I had a lovely breakfast experience) and Nisatha at 'The Lattice' for showing me around the property and help with local tourist destinations. Appreciate anjalee's help during my checkout. All and all would recommend this hotel 100% very much enjoyed my short stay.
After a long drive from Trinco we arrived at Taj Colombo at 2pm, exhausted and hungry. We had booked 3 rooms for one night. The lady at the front desk told us that the rooms would be ready by 3pm and we had lunch at the Indian Restaurant - which was delicious and a special thanks to the chef who personally supervised our order
However, the rooms were not ready even by 3.15pm and they refused to accommodate us in spite of our telling them that we have senior citizens (75 and 82 yrs) with us who needed to rest.
The lady at the front desk was rude and didn't help at all. Finally we had to complain to the Duty Manager, and got our rooms by 3.45. We had to change rooms twice and finally settled in by 4.15pm
The breakfast was great and a huuuge spread.
The staff was attentive.
Its really sad that one bad experience during check-in can make such a big impact to the overall stay. Not expected from the Taj at all.
The hotel also shows signs of wear and tear.

This hotel restaurant is an absolute gem. The level of personal care and attention the staff showed us was truly remarkable—they made us feel like VIPs. On top of the stellar service, the food was absolutely delicious with a wonderful menu. Our whole family, kids included, had a fantastic time and left thoroughly happy. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience. 10/10!

From the moment we arrived each morning, they welcomed us with genuine smiles and ensured that everything was perfect. The breakfast buffet was excellent, but it was the exceptional service from these team members that made the experience memorable. They consistently went above and beyond to make guests feel comfortable, valued, and well cared for.

We celebrated my girlfriend’s birthday at Ports of Call and honestly could not have asked for a better evening. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the food more than lived up to the Taj Samudra name. Every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavour, and the pacing of the meal was perfect from start to finish.
What really made the night special was the staff. Dilhara, Chathura, Oshan, Gayan, and Prabath all went above and beyond to look after us. They were attentive without ever being intrusive, genuinely friendly, and you could tell they took real pride in making sure we had a great time.
The highlight was when they surprised my girlfriend with a complimentary birthday cake and gathered to sing happy birthday to her. It was such a thoughtful gesture and made her evening truly memorable. That kind of personal touch is rare and it did not go unnoticed.
A huge thank you to the whole team for the wonderful hospitality. We will absolutely be back.
An Absolute Gem in Colombo. My family and I are frequent guests at the Ports of Call restaurant in the Taj Samudra Colombo Hotel, visiting at least once every two months, and it never fails to impress us.
What truly sets this place apart is the incredible team. The staff are always extremely nice and go above and beyond to make us feel welcome and valued every single time. A special shout out to Dilhara, Chathura, Oshan, Gayan, and Prabath.
The food as well is amazing. We personally love their club sandwich and every dish on the menu is definitely worth the price.
The ambience is also fantastic. As you can see in the pictures I’ve shared, the atmosphere is beautiful and inviting. We honestly don’t have a single bad thing to say about this restaurant. Highly recommended!
