Very clean bed linen and towels. Comfy bed. Nice sea view.
In desperate need of renovation. Drinks in the bar extremely expensive.
The cheap parking
Nothing like the images room as awful and red hot with no fans available and window barely opened
Location although parking was shocking.
It was run down and very tired! Cobwebs in the room and just al round not very nice. Breakfast was also shocking!!
Great location.
Dated, definitely not a 4 star. Expensive
a very enjoyable stay
black pudding with the breakfast
Great location
Bed was not comfortable
The location and sea views
The smell, the dated, cheap decor, the lift
The breakfast was very nice.
The ground floor facilities are very nice and feel modern and well appointed.
First off, be prepared to receive a lot of messages all selling services already included in your booking. I received at least 4 messages including add breakfast to your booking, to a booking that came with breakfast. It was so bad I felt the need to message the hotel to check my breakfast was included and was informed it is just automated messaging. Not a great way to make a first impression before I even arrived.
Secondly, if you are driving to this hotel, good luck getting parked. You can buy a permit, £5 for a 2 day parking permit. Ideal you would think, but it doesn't guarantee a space, after returning to the hotel late on a Sunday evening, I spent 30 minutes driving round looking for a space in the correct zone, which is a lot smaller than your realise. (Zone A2, for information).
Thirdly. The reason for the review title. As stated the ground floor is lovely, tastefully decorated and feels very modern. Anything above that has the feel of an 80's b&b and almost certainly hasn't seen a fresh coat of paint since the same time period. The room I had, had obviously been a larger room at some point, that was split into two. However the entire shoebox just felt tired. Scuffed furniture, a floor that felt more like a trampoline, a window that didn't open, despite the other half of the room having an opening window. (I was in 313, 313a had an opening window.)
Lastly, be very precise ordering your breakfast. White and brown sound identical to the waiting staff. I didn't dare ask for the toast to be replaced, as the main course isn't self service. Also, the staff couldn't tell the difference between 313 and 313a. I was stood feeling like I wasn't getting breakfast whilst they worked out they had ticked off the wrong room on the list.
