My husband and I stayed at the Brookstreet Hotel in Kanata at the end of March for two nights to celebrate a very special birthday. We booked through Hotels.com which gave us free parking as a silver perk which was a nice little bonus.
From the time we arrived until the moment we left, it was absolutely perfect. The underground parking is a real bonus here. The spots are nice and wide and the garage is clean. It’s a quick elevator ride to the lobby where we were able to check in early. Staff were very welcoming and clearly explained how everything worked including what we needed to do at checkout to leave the parking.
Next we headed to our room. We had a king and it was so pretty. We were on a corner with big huge windows and even a balcony with two chairs and a table overlooking the golf course which was a nice surprise. If only it had been warmer. The room itself was quite large with lots of seating and a nice big TV. There was a great coffee maker for morning coffee and I’ll give that a 7/10. Pretty good. We also had a safe, robes, extra blankets, mini fridge, lots of glasses and mugs and an ice bucket. There were lots of places to charge your devices and good lighting for reading.
The bathroom was nicely laid out with a separate shower and tub. Only one sink but it was fine. Pretty average amenities…shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand lotion. Lots of towels and a good hairdryer. It also had a makeup mirror which I really appreciate as a person who wears glasses to see. It can be very difficult to put on makeup without being able to see yourself in the regular mirror.
I had placed an order for some treats for the room…a bottle of wine, a couple beers, cheese & crackers, a fruit tray and a bottle of sparking water. It was laid out so beautifully along with a nice birthday card and some amazing chocolates on the house.
This hotel has a restaurant, jazz bar, cafe, spa, swimming pool, golf course, outdoor skating rink and so much more but we only visited the bar for a quick drink before hitting the town. The drinks were lovely and service was quick. I’d like to go back for the music sometime. I also thought it was a nice touch that there was a doorman who always opened the doors for us. Very cute.
Overall I would say this is a great hotel with upscale amenities, lots to do and a pretty location. We would definitely go back if we were in the area.
Security threatened eviction if we did not leave a public parking lot that the hotel did not own. We kept lots of distance and were very respectful waiting a hockey teams bus pull up. We were not looking to speak or obtain any communication from the players. My 7 year old just wanted to watch the players walk on the bus. The security guard approached my wife and child in a public parking lot and told them they needed to leave. When questioned on how he can enforce this im a public parking lot he stated there would be consequences. When asked what that meant he stated " well aren't you guest here" hinting my children would not have a place to sleep that evening. We were scared to report him at the time due to backlash and the consequences he stated in his threatening behavior.
The Brookstreet hotel is wonderful, if visiting Kanata or west Ottawa stay here! Fantastic staff and rooms, great spa and restaurants.
From the very beginning our stay at Brook street was bad. The front desk staff (blonde female) was horribly rude and passive aggressive. Quite embarrassing to be honest. I let that slide. In the morning when we woke up we found the shower drain cover removed and it was full of hair and debris. It was absolutely disgusting. I had asked the front desk to work with me on some kind of discount and was offered a measly 15% off. Absolutely awful front desk staff and management they should be embarrassed.
Great hotel, beds are extremely comfortable jazz bar is nice, bar staff extremely friendly and good at their craft, only negative is needs more bar/finger foods new chef thinks he's pushing a 5 star service on people who just want to have a drink relax and listen to some music. Also wish it stayed open longer some nights it's closed by 11 others open later.
Loved the suite and space. Excellent staff and very clean and comfortable. The restaurants were excellent as well, a nice selection of food. Accommodated my gluten free needs.
Elegant, well maintained hotel in Kanata. Nice comfortable rooms. Very clean. Great restaurant and jazz bar. Wonderful banquet facilities and catering staff. Will be back.
I called the day before to ensure we could eat in the Perspective Restaurant. I was told they were full, but could eat bar. When we arrived yesterday and went down for dinner we were told Perspective was not open and we had to eat Options (Jazz Lounge). The food was horrible!! Plus it was my husband's birthday. We each had 2 bites and sent it back. The waitress was kind enough to not charge us for the food. We will not be back!!!
Our food was cooked and reheated to the point my eggs couldn’t be cut. Our room was nice except for the noise of the fan system and mini fridge that needs desperate repair. Staff pretended to listen to issues and want to take a swim? Enjoy over 40 unsupervised young kids running, screaming and throwing things while the staff tell you they don’t need a parent with them. Thanks sports teams for letting your teams run that hotel with noise, unsupervised children and a rude.
Checked n on Friday afternoon, quick and easy.great front desk staff. Took the “school” bus to the Michael Buble concert. Picked up and dropped off at the lobby. $15 round trip. Room was huge, clean, with lots of windows, a fridge and safe.Went to Jazz bar after the concert but it closed at midnight 😞
Spa day on Saturday and Matt, Karen and Erika were awesome! Dinner at Perspectives Restaurant. Saturday evening. Service was great, drinks were very good, and food was excellent.
I’ll be waiting for the manager to call me. I sent an email with a few complaints. Definitely not the same Brook Street hotel. We’ve stayed at prior.
Great hotel and it’s the staff that makes it so wonderful! All very helpful and they go beyond expectations. Shuttle service to concert was a great idea. Thank you Brookstreet!
The hotel was easy to find, the underground parking very accessible, the staff were welcoming and helpful, the room was sparking clean quiet and well appointed
Room was not up to standard (sheets with holes and stains). Request to have the sheets changed ended up with queen sheets given for us to change ourselves. Second call to front desk requesting king sheets and someone to help make the bed ended up with sheets being delivered. Front desk apologetic following morning.
We hosted our immediate family at an event space at the Brookstreet Hotel after getting married @ City Hall earlier in the day
Our event manager was wonderful is helping us coordinate a space that would work for our needs and in helping us get a meal sorted out that accommodated our family's dietary restrictions & age range
The hotel accommodations were lovely - spacious & clean; the hotel staff were attentive to our groups needs & very friendly
The shuttle was the best thing about this hotel! Rooms were dusty. Don’t bother with a late checkout, cleaning staff will still enter your room and see your naked ass!
Hotel was nice in appearance. Shower water was like warm. Find a warming station if staying here more than a night. Many hotels in area with better amenities, room upgrade did not even have a microwave.
Great family one night pre-Christmas stay. 11, 12, 13 year old children had lots of fun in pool and games room. Nice dinner for all in Options lounge. Beautiful Christmas decorations at different areas in the hotel that were perfect for family pictures.
We visit annually at Christmas time to enjoy the decorations. The service is amazing and we like the activities available to us. See you next year!
The services of the hotel are good. The food is not up to the mark for the prices they charge. And if you are someone who has dietary restriction you will be better off to go out for eating. They have very limited options of vegetarian/ gluten free and only salad for vegan option.
