SpringHill Suites by Marriott Tarrytown Westchester County

I have stayed at this hotel several times and I was greatly disappointed in my recent visit. I had booked a king suite through a travel service such as TripAdvisor. However, when I arrived I was told that there were only double bed rooms remaining. Even though I had a reservation that had been booked weeks in advance and confirmed, the person at the desk, Jayson, rudely informed me that because I did not book directly with the hotel that I was not guaranteed the room type that I wanted or reserved. The room was clean but small and the service during my stay was acceptable. However, the poor service at check in and Jayson’s behavior will have me thinking twice at staying there again. There are plenty of other choices in the area.

Normally I stay across the street at the Courtyard by Marriott but since this was a longer stay, decided I wanted the extra "suite" room and complimentary breakfast is a plus given the location. The room was comfortable enough, but oddly arranged. There was a large desk area near a galley "kitchen" - lots of open space with a very large sofa, but the bedroom area was small and cramped as a result, and BE CAREFUL not to bang into the corners of the bed frame if you get up to visit the bathroom. Lighting throughout the suite was odd - especially in the bath/sink area, where most people could use good lighting! Bed and pillows were comfortable, which made for a good sleep. The downside - this hotel had one of the WORST "complimentary" continental breakfasts I've ever experienced. It was supposed to be open until 9 but at 8:30, food was slim pickings. First day there was no bread for toasting, a couple of apples qualified as "fruit" (yes, we have no bananas), questionable looking scrambled eggs, and empty coffee carafes. Second day was not much better - since there isn't a coffee shop within walking distance, this was a huge disappointment.
