Perfect 3-day stay at the Mandarin Oriental
Pros:

Everything was perfect at the Mandarin Oriental Singapore. The location is fantastic, the facilities - including pool and gym, etc - were wonderful. The breakfast buffet has set a new high bar for my family ;) The kids are already asking to come back here to stay. Every detail was taken care of - down to kids' size slippers for turndown service. Thanks, MO!

Worst hospitality ever.
Pros:

Room size with a toddler is quite small. No place to walk if two suitcases are open. Everyone at front desk is rude or has a sense of arrogance. We requested for a bigger room and it took them 10 hours to find one after consistent follow up and calls. Felt there was a borderline racist attitude from the front desk and that left a strange feeling considering it’s an MO brand.

The kindest person was the doorman.

Not the best
Pros:

Coming directly from Mandarin Oriental Bangkok, I guess we were bound to be luke warm to this experience. Mandarin Oriental Singapore is so very ordinary in comparison.
Arriving by car no one met us straight away for the luggage.
Arriving in the lobby was a complete disappointment. It looks plain and ordinary. It kind of gives you the cruise boat feeling when an interior architect has tried too hard but not succeeded. It looks cheap. Kids were jumping in sofas and it was all chaotic. No one bothered.

Room was fantastic though. Glad it was not the other way around.
Welcome amenities nice. Bathroom awesome. Bed super comfy.
A little stingy on the towels, the only negative. Dyson hair drier and straightener.

Pool is nice, though a little dirty around sunbeds. Service a little slow. Nothing is refilled like in Bangkok and had to ask for refill of water even though I am 100% sure we were the ones buying the most of the entire crowd. We had Food and a couple of wine bottles++
Not so happy about the menu by the pool. You scan a QR-code to get the menu. When you try to order their summer menu they claim it’s from 2025 and not valid anymore. Really? A 5-star hotel cannot update their menu ? They did not have their special offer and prices had changed.
Seems quite unprofessional..Food is so-so, not an impressive menu. Toilet has paper towels in stead of fabric ones. Staff seems very relaxed towards service. This is an ordinary place. Nothing outstanding. Just one of those standard, ordinary 5-star hotels you can find everywhere in Singapore. I miss Bangkok already.

Buffet that feels like fine dining, the personalised service stole the show
Pros:

We recently celebrated my parents’ birthdays at Embu, and the experience exceeded our expectations.

The buffet spread was impressive — fresh seafood, thoughtfully prepared local dishes, Western selections, an extensive dessert table, and a beautiful variety of fruits. Everything was fresh and well presented.

What truly made the experience outstanding, however, was the personalised service — something you don’t always expect from a buffet.

The team surprised my mom and dad with a birthday cake complete with candle and “Happy Birthday” lettering, which made the celebration even more meaningful. It was such a thoughtful touch.

Special mention to Ila, who was exceptionally attentive, cheerful, and genuinely warm. She consistently checked on us, anticipated our needs, and even personally prepared coffee and tea for us — again, this is a buffet, mind you. Her level of care and attentiveness embodied what true hospitality should be.

Dining at Embu, located within Capella Singapore, felt less like a buffet and more like a curated celebration.

We left not just full, but deeply appreciative. Highly recommended for special occasions.

Highly enjoyable club room stay
Pros:

Having stayed at this hotel several times in the past on business it was nice to experience it on vacation.
The rooms are fresh and bright and the bathroom very well appointed.
I stayed in a club room overlooking Marina Bay and would highly recommend.
The staff at Haus 65 were friendly and welcoming and helped make my experience as a solo traveller all the more special. I can’t praise them highly enough.
I shall certainly be returning to this hotel again
