Breakfast was ok. Not great. Room was clean. Staff was friendly.
Comfortable bed, clean rooms and great staff
Lovely staff, nice clean hotel.
The breakfast was an unexpected treat. Eggs, 3 types of meat, potatoes, biscuits and gravy, and giant muffins, along with the typical packaged fair. The room was ok, dated, but they allow pets for a nominal fee and it was super quiet. I would 100% stay again if passing that way.
Room was very nice clean and the hotel smelled very nice
Breakfast was very good
WE did not like the mattress. it was very hard and uncomfortable
Hotel was okay for a quick overnight stay. Nothing special
The hotel had an awful smell. The staff was nice, but the rooms were terrible and the smell was even worse. It was extremely difficult to sleep in that
Good breakfast buffet. Friendly, helpful staff.
I made the reservation for two nights, but when plans changed, I called several days ahead and tried to cancel the reservation. The worker who answered the phone directed me to Expedia where I was told the amount I had paid was nonrefundable. I had been led to believe that I didn't have to pay for the room until I was at Story City and had no notice the thing was nonrefundable. I hung up. This was a very unfortunate experience, but I can promise you I will never bother Expedia with any further business and am telling all my friends to avoid Expedia and the Comfort Inn in Story City, Iowa. I regret this development as we have stayed at the Comfort Inn several times a year for the past five years or so and have generally been pleased with the hotel.
This property is in need of major repairs and upkeep. Room service needs to up their game. They didn’t even make our beds. Our keys didn’t work and needed reprogrammed right off the bat. All the tables at breakfast needed wiped down and we were the only ones in there, so it wasn’t busy. And our food was lukewarm at best. I wouldn’t recommend staying here, but unfortunately this is the only place to stay in town that’s halfway decent.
Loved the pool and the free breakfast.
upgraded our room for the jacuzzi and the jets didn’t even work. very disappointed in that. one of the blankets was dirty/ stained as well. otherwise very quiet and helpful staff.
I specifically reserved a room with 2 beds and when we got there, we got a 1 bed room. There were 3 of us and a dog. No rooms left available but they had a hide-a-bed couch (very old and uncomfortable) but it was for only 1 night so we made it work.
It was a little hard to find first time due to it being off a little side road, but once we found it , it was conveniently off the freeway and very close to the town.
This is a challenged property. They only have one luggage cart and if someone keeps it in their room, it is a problem for the other guests and this is a large hotel. Our room had black mold on the bottom of the sheer curtains which then blew when the air conditioner was on. There is a chunk out of the tile by the elevator which makes it easy to trip getting in or out of the elevator. The rooms open with a card swipe but the cards don't indicate which way to swipe so if you have to carry your luggage to your room you may have to fiddle with this, too. We lost money in the vending machine and then it spat out a smaller version of the advertised candy bar.
The bed was clean but the top of the sheets were folded almost to the middle of the bed, which required remaking the bed for my tall husband. The shower takes a long time to warm up, not really an issue but very light water pressure. They provide hanging shampoo and conditioner but bar soap. We made the mistake of getting in the shower and then realizing we needed soap.
The hotel was very quiet, and the breakfast area is nice, in that it is secluded from the lobby. That also means it's locked at night so if you wanted to sit at a table in the lobby and work, you're probably out of luck. WiFi did work well and didn't require a log on password.
Excellent quality, soaps, shampoo towels. About average breakfast items with homemade cinnamon buns to take and package to go. Coffee was excellent gourmet. They had real butter and real milk cream. Top job!! Very welcoming for a traveler.
Nice place. Rooms were clean. Didn’t make it in time for breakfast so not sure how that is. Elevator was broke.
Good hotel, awesome staff
Great place. Only gave a four star because the water in the shower was cool at best. I was unable to get it hot. Other then that it was great.
