Risk of getting a room in the Opera Hotel instead
Pros:

Seehof is very nice, the style of the rooms is very boutique although the rooms are small. The location behind the Opera and close to the lake is very nice.

Cons:

The Seehof is next to its sister hotel Opera. When I arrived I was given a room in the Opera without anybody telling me, when I noted I was told it is an upgrade which was total BS. The Opera has a completely different style (not boutique) and the room was clearly a tired, old room. I complained and was then given a room in the Seehof (luckily there was still one). Staff was not very apologetic, seems they are doing this often. They said they will take a note that I prefer the Seehof, well if I book the Seehof I actually plan to stay there! Not sure I book again as I cant be sure I will be in the Seehof and finding last minute a room in Zurich is not always easy. Very unpleasant experience after a long day of travel. Breakfast very pricey at CHF30, I skipped in.

Pros:

The room is very clean and comfortable. Location is amazong, between the two parts of old city, near the river. Awesome choice even for the next stay. I totally recommend it.
