Beautiful location for our vow renewal!
The stairs from 3rd to 4th floor but it was worth it for the big room/suite we had.
Very nice staff, great location and unique place. Views were spectacular
Coffee bar in am for guests could be improved
The location was conveniently located on Main Street and a short walk for shopping, eating and site seeing.

Clean room. Pleasant, efficient and helpful staff. Our room had a wonderful view. Enjoyed our stay and would recommend the hotel.
We had the breakfast package for each day in the 1852 Grill and it was very good and a nice way to start our day. We also included one dinner at the 1852 Grill in our package. The meal was excellent and a great value as part of the package. We did also try the Ice House for dinner one night. I wouldn't recommend it as the food was average at best.
Overall a good value for the premium costs on Mackinac Island.
Pros -
1. Absolutely stunning grounds and view. The porch and lawn Adirondacks are wonderful. It is so peaceful and charming in the evening when things slow down.
2. Great location- walking distance to ferry but away from the crowds. The included luggage transport is very convenient.
3. Restaurant was excellent and service was too. We didn’t try the outdoor restaurant in back of the property but the food smelled very good.
4. While the pool is older and inside, there are open sliding doors around it and nice chairs and umbrellas outside of it. There’s also a bar so you can have a drink while kids swim.
5. Shower water pressure was good.
The biggest con is that the rooms are very mid. Small bathroom, loud and blowy air conditioner. Lots of noise from floors above. Also like I said the pool is older but it’s fine for a quick swim.
Overall this is a good choice if you don’t plan on spending much time in the room.
The hotel was wonderful. It was in a great location, just a short walk from the ferry and on level ground. They took our luggage in Mackinaw City at the ferry and we didn't see it until it turned up in our room. We made dinner reservations at the 1852, the restaurant in the hotel and we had a beautiful table overlooking the front lawn and harbor. The food was delicious and service very attentive. Everyone at the front desk was friendly and helpful. It was very fun to sit on the front porch and watch all the bikes, horses and people on the street and in the morning it was a peaceful place for coffee. It's a great location because it's close to downtown, yet relatively quiet.
Nothing
The restaurant 1852 Grill was excellent
Provide water bottles in room
We were there for a family wedding. Upon arrival everyone was so helpful and kind. I was able to have a conversation with the manager of the hotel. Neat guy! We look forward to returning hopefully next summer.
The room was quite small. Other than that there was nothing I'd change.
The location was perfect. Close to town. Beautiful view.
The location was perfect. Close enough to walk downtown, but far enough away to get away from the crowds. The room was small, but clean and cozy. The grounds were beautifully maintained. We enjoyed sitting on the porch and taking in the view. Our favorite meal was at Ice House BBQ on site at the hotel. Casual, outdoor dining. Excellent food and large portions.
The steep stairs to the 4th floor were the only option to our room. There was an elevator to the 3rd floor on the other side of the hotel you could take if you chose and then walk the last flight. Burned some extra calories.
Location great, porch and rocking chairs great. Staff very nice
Very small beds, bathroom tight fit. Keurig kept overflowing, air conditioner super loud and runs often making sleep challenging
This hotel was excellent. The staff are astute and attentive. The property is in a good location.
If you have trouble with climbing stairs you do not want to book a room on the 4th floor. The elevator only takes you to the 3rd floor, and you will need to climb some stairs due to the age of the hotel and the fact it’s been added on to since it’s original construction.
We loved the location and sitting on the porch was very relaxing. Our room was on the fourth floor so it required stairs and was small but we liked it for it's uniqueness - the turret was attached so we could sit in the turrett and look down on the street and gardens. The luggage system from and to the ferry worked great. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Muy poco tiempo y que hubiera incluido el desayuno
Couple and two young adult sons visit in July 2026. The location was excellent with great views. The rooms and beds were clean and comfortable. The staff was helpful. The AC units on the first floor were loud, but 3rd floor AC was quiet. The food at the adjacent 1852 Grill was as good as it gets on Mackinac Island. The showers had good pressure and temperatures. I would recommend the hotel.
My husband and I booked this hotel based on trip advisor reviews knowing the good and not so good opinions.
We were wowed by the hotel upon our entrance. The lobby, the restaurant, the interior of our room was impressive. It’s bright and cheery and we stayed in a deluxe premium water view. We loved the location, the room and the extras like a fridge and coffee maker in our room. We did not find a safe in the room but we didn’t need it. One fact that is in reviews is that the walls are thin and you do hear noise from other guests however we were not going to change rooms because we were satisfied with our located room. We understand this is present in lots of hotels so we could live with it for two nights.
Overall we would book here next time we return to the island.
A plus is sitting on the porch anytime of the day to chill and watch the horse carriages “ click clock” back and forth on the street.
