Hotel was located close to all the shops, fort and waterfront. The deluxe mountain view rooms were not as described..we upgraded for $75 fee per night to premium lakeside rooms which were great. Food in Lakeside restaurant was tasty but portions not enough to feel full. Could use complimentary coffee and water in lobby. Overall, was good stay.
The entire staff I encountered from check-in, dinning, veranda bar and checking out was one of the best stays of any hotels I have stayed with. I would highly recommend staying here to anyone.
This is a great place to stay. The facility is well kept and the rooms are very comfortable. The prices are high but for a special occasion, it's worth it. The view from the main hotel lakeside are spectacular. Staff is well trained and accommodating.
I would not stay here again. We had a confirmed reservation for a “Deluxe Mountain King” room. When we checked in, we were told it was on the second floor with no elevator. We had too much luggage to carry and requested a different room. The front desk person said, “We only have 4 rooms like that,” then assigned us a “standard” ground floor room in the “annex.” This room was like a low-cost motel, looking out onto the parking lot. The walls were so thin, we could hear muffled conversations from the rooms on both sides of ours and more clearly in the bathroom. They charged a $50 deposit for incidentals which a week later has not been refunded. I called and was told it could take 10 business days for the refund to show up on my bank account. Also, we kept getting emails about the on-site restaurant which was closed the night we arrived. One of the reasons we chose this hotel was to eat with a view of the lake.
To get coffee to go, we had to pay. Frankly, In hindsight, we wished we had stayed at a Hampton Inn where the rooms are nicer and the coffee is free.
We stayed two nights in the Deluxe wing with lake views. The rooms were recently renovated so they were pretty great, but the best part was the ability to relax on the balcony and look at the lake. And free EV charging!!!!
Beautiful, pristine property! This hotel obviously takes great pride in making sure their guests have a wonderful time. Our room was very spacious, even with our pack & play for the baby. The veranda bar overlooking the pool and lake is amazing. The hotel itself is incredibly central to main attractions, restaurants and shopping. We coulnd't have picked a better place to stay! This was our first time in Lake George and CANNOT wait to come back!!
We were very happy with our stay at The Fort William Henry Hotel in August 2026. We requested a lake view on the top floor and were very pleasantly surprised. The view is absolutely gorgeous. And every Thursday in August, they have fireworks, which we could see perfectly from the comfort of our room. They have two pools - which our boys swam in every day. Their outdoor pool is heated and huge with a beautiful background of Lake George and the mountains. The indoor pool area could use some updating, but it was perfect for our boys and we loved the sauna and the hot tub. We had breakfast at the Lakeview (restaurant in hotel) one morning and that was very good. The hotel was clean and we were satisfied with our room. The hotel is within walking distance to downtown, but off the beaten path, which we preferred. The staff was friendly and helpful. We would stay again and highly recommend.
Perfect location and great view! Clean and comfortable rooms. Hotel staff was very friendly, professional, and accommodating.
I traveled with my husband and 6 Month old infant in August 2026 for a family vacation. This hotel advertises itself as a non-smoking hotel, which was a major reason I felt comfortable staying there while traveling with my infant. Unfortunately, my experience did not match that advertising.
Our situation was especially frustrating because we were traveling with an infant. We were placed next to three rooms where guests were smoking on their terrace/patio right outside their rooms, instead of using the designated smoking areas. I brought this to the attention of staff, and I was told by one staff member working the front desk that guests were allowed to smoke on their terraces. The following day, I spoke directly with a manager, who told me that smoking outside the designated smoking areas was not allowed. Despite acknowledging the policy, however, the hotel management was not willing to enforce it or speak to the smoking families. Instead, we were asked to move rooms.
To the hotel's credit, the manager upgraded us to a room inside the hotel where we were no longer dealing with the smoke. I appreciated the upgrade and the effort to resolve the situation, but we had to pack up all of our belongings and move rooms, which was extremely inconvenient, especially while traveling with an infant.
The hotel does have designated smoking areas, but there are additional problems with where those areas are located. Some of the designated smoking spots are right outside communal lounge areas, near the bar, and close to door entrances—places where non-smoking guests naturally want to sit, relax, socialize, and enter or exit the building. Even if smoking is technically permitted in those designated areas, placing them directly next to shared public spaces makes it difficult for non-smokers to avoid secondhand smoke. In my opinion, designated smoking areas should be located well away from building entrances, bars, lounges, and other shared public spaces. They should be positioned somewhere that allows smokers to use the area without forcing non-smoking guests to walk through or sit in cigarette smoke. Ideally, these areas should be clearly separated from common areas so guests who choose a non-smoking hotel can actually enjoy a smoke-free environment.
My biggest concern is the disconnect between the hotel's "non-smoking" advertising and the actual guest experience. If a hotel advertises itself as non-smoking, guests should reasonably expect smoking policies to be enforced. Having designated smoking areas is one thing, but those areas should be appropriately located and the rules should be consistently enforced.
The staff were courteous when I raised the issue, and I appreciated the room upgrade. However, management needs to seriously reconsider both the location of the designated smoking areas and enforcement of the smoking policy. Smoking areas should be away from shared public spaces, and guests should not be permitted to smoke directly outside neighboring guest rooms. If management is unwilling to enforce their own policy, you can't expect their staff to enforce the policy either.
Had we not encountered this issue, I would have rated this hotel 4 stars. The location is excellent and the views are spectacular. However, I would think twice about recommending this hotel to families with infants or anyone who specifically chooses a hotel because it advertises itself as non-smoking.
First time at Lake George. The hotel room was nice and staff friendly. Check in took some time. Had two staff at the desk and a lot of people checking in at the same time. The Veranda bar closes early and the other bar, not open Monday and Tuesday. Did appreciate the discount to Fort William Henry and the connection with Lookout Cafe at the outdoor pool. We are looking forward to returning.
A lovely hotel in the Lake George Village area. Nice bars and restaurants in site. The pool is big and clean with fresh towels supplied all day. Fire pits at night for a small fee. A great place to relax.
The Fort William Henry hotel is perfectly located on the hill next the Fort with sweeping views of the lake & very easy walk into town. The hotel is also very good if someone in you group has mobility issues. On the property they have a bar/restaurant, a veranda with comfy seating that also has a veranda bar open during the day where you can enjoy the view of the lake, pool & well kept property. The pool is clean & large with towel service as well as food service. They also have an indoor pool. It is a relaxing atmosphere good for couples, groups & is family friendly. Our rooms were spacious with comfortable beds & were clean with a micro wave, safe & fridge. For the location & all they have on the property this is a great value
We so enjoyed our stay at Fort William Henry. We loved its location. The food was great. We ended up eating all our meals here. The views up the lake gorgeous and we loved the museum and steamboat rides and they are at the doorstep. The staff is excellent and friendly and attentive. There is always someone on the front desk. And the coffee is delicious- strong and hot!!!
The location is #1, the view is breathtaking, rooms are spacious & clean. Can stay on the premises all day with a Great Lake view & pool & veranda bar or you can take a very short walk to the shops in town, Million Dollar Beach, or the historic Fort tour. The Lakeside restaurant has a beautiful view as well, with a very delicious & reasonably priced breakfast (many options of food). The pancakes are huge! I come back every year

Loved it, clean and nice sized room, spectacular view of the lake, the front desk was especially friendly. Spoke to Marissa after 10pm and had great experience booking! The location was outstanding, looking forward to visiting again soon. The property was so nice for my kids, open spaces and clean all over.
We just got back from a 4th of July weekend at Fort William Henry Hotel and it did not disappoint. We stayed in the premium section of the building, which put us right on the lake with two queen beds — and the views did not disappoint. Three nights in a row we had a front-row seat to the fireworks right from our room. They were absolutely spectacular, and getting to watch them without fighting crowds or traffic made the whole weekend feel effortless.
One small downside — the premium section doesn't have an elevator, so hauling luggage up the flight of stairs was a bit of a workout. Not a dealbreaker, just something to be prepared for if you're packing heavy or traveling with a lot of bags.
Housekeeping was excellent — she came by every day to refresh our towels and empty the trash, and everything always felt clean and taken care of. Front desk service was also a highlight; Careena in particular was so friendly and helpful throughout our stay and made check-in and any questions we had a breeze.
The pool area was a big hit with the kids, and the location can't be beat — just a short walk into the village of Lake George, where you've got the arcade, rides, ice cream, mini golf, and even the Minne Ha Ha steamboat all within walking distance. Having all of that so close by made it easy to fill our days without ever needing to drive anywhere.
Overall, a great, centrally located hotel with unbeatable fireworks views for the holiday weekend. We'd definitely stay here again!
The entire staff at the hotel were so friendly and accommodating. They all were just awesome and made our stay very special !!
