Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok by IHG

I had an incredibly enjoyable family trip at Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok. All the staff were so welcoming, but I especially cannot forget the kindness of a staff member named Grape. Grape was so sweet and attentive to my child, which made our family vacation even more special. Thank you so much, Grape! We will definitely visit again next time.

L'hôtel propose un petit déjeuner frais, varié, de très bonne qualité, des jus, des salades, des plats sains, asiatiques, européens, mais aussi une très grande variété de fruits et de "bowls". Une salle de sports aux équipements de haut niveau pour les athlètes de tout types (fitness, Pilates, powerlifting..).

Les rideaux permettent un noir complet durant la nuit avec un silence/isolation complet. L'hôtel est magnifiquement décoré, les lumières, décors, mobilier sont magnifiques ; le jardin et les terrasses sont sublimes. On sent un vrai "luxe" supérieur, pas un "simple" hôtel 5 étoiles mais une expérience luxueuse.

I had a wonderful experience at Hotel Maa-Lai in Thailand, thanks especially to Ms. Grape at the check-in desk. She was incredibly warm, polite, and professional from the moment I arrived. I truly appreciated her kindness in arranging an early check-in, which made my trip so much more comfortable and stress-free.

I’ve stayed at quite a few hotels, but this one really stood out. For me, luxury isn’t about having a 24-hour butler or overly formal service. Luxury is about personalization, genuine hospitality, and attention to detail. You can truly feel the effort behind every smile and every interaction here.

The rooms are beautiful, clean, modern, and well maintained. They feel fresh and stylish rather than old-fashioned or outdated.

The bar was another highlight. The cocktails were excellent, and the vibe was fantastic. It has a unique atmosphere that’s hard to find. It feels very much like a Kimpton-style bar, not one of those typical hotel bars that can sometimes feel a bit bland.

We came here to celebrate my wife birthday during our first stay, and the hotel went above and beyond. They prepared a cake, balloons, flowers, and other thoughtful touches without us even requesting anything. It was such a wonderful surprise and made the celebration feel extra special.

The bed was very comfortable, breakfast offered a great variety of choices, and the lobby was stunning.

Overall, a truly memorable stay. This is exactly the kind of experience you hope for when paying for a luxury hotel, and I would happily return.

We've stayed at this hotel every summer for the past three years, and we've already booked again for this Christmas.

The breakfast is great, and the facilities are always kept in good shape. But what really makes this place stand out is the staff. Everyone's super friendly and welcoming, always greeting you with a warm smile. Their positive vibe makes every stay fun and memorable.

The location is another big plus. Lumpini Park is just a short walk away, so it's easy to head out for a morning walk or a bit of exercise. The neighborhood around it is nice, safe, and packed with good places to eat and shop.

This has become our favorite hotel in Bangkok, and we can't wait to come back again and again. I'd definitely recommend it to families and business travelers alike.

Rarely have we been so impressed with our hotel experience! This is an amazing hotel! Every member of the hotel staff were courteous, professional and helpful. Many even remembered our names the next day, after the first introductions.
The decor is modern and chic. The rooms were spotlessly clean, a great shower, plenty of natural light and well appointed.
The bar/lounge downstairs has a good selection of wine and spirits and the food was outstanding (must try the chicken wings). Looking out on the lush green gardens had that sanctuary like feel. Excellent!
The Rooftop bar was also a great space, again with friendly and switched on staff.
We'd rate the Kimpton Maa Lai a 10/10 and will be back.

Like many here, I was awed by the 4.9* reviews on this property and glowing YouTube/ insta reviews. So I chose this over Ritz Bangkok or Rosewood or Mandarin Oriental, priced similarly for the dates I was here…

After 4 days, I can say that this is a very good property, but there were many short comings. I’m moving to the Ritz Carlton for my last 5 days.

There were many good things…

The rooms are super stylish and modern.

The communication from the Guest experience team was prompt, and I appreciated the upgrade for my Elite membership.

The location is good, quiet area but still close to shopping and attractions.

These were the disappointments for me…

Breakfast - This has been described by may reviewers and YouTube videos as the best hotel breakfast in town. Our experience was that whilst it may be the largest spread of breakfast, there is more to a breakfast experience, and this is where the Kimpton Maa Lai fell short. The quality of some food was not top notch as I would have expected. The Indian section was a half hearted effort from the culinary team. The service was not as attentive as we would have expected.

Service - The Kimpton brand is known for service, and we certainly have experienced this in other Kimpton hotels. Here though, it was a bit different. I dont know if my expectations were raised from the reviews, but I was left wanting. Request for room amenities took a fair while to be obliged. Staff were not as keen to say hello, and I could often see them speak to each other in Thai whilst they were liaising with us or serving us. Not in keeping with a 4.9* hotel according to reviews.

The Vibe - Ah yes, the vibe… that’s what everyone talks about. There is no doubt this is a stylish facility. It’s an instagram magnet, but this did not ode well for me. The lobby area on most days was packed, and I think 90% of those there were not hotel guests. They were instagrammers and influencers coming here to take pics, with or without their pets. When the cafe does not have any seats, yet not many are seen eating or drinking something, it should raise eye-brows.

The gym - Again, many have described the Kimpton to have the best gym in Bangkok. I’m not so sure… yes, it has all you could expect for strength training, but I found the cardio options to be lacking. Most mornings, there was no availability of a treadmill (they have 3). There is no stairmaster, which I would expect in what is described as the best gym. The cardio equipment is not modern, and likely 5-7 years old.

So, is this a good property - it certainly is…

Is this good value for money - it was not for me…

Does it have the best breakfast - for me, no…

Such a beautiful hotel inside and out. As soon as we arrive, we immediately greet and take care from beginning to the end. Nink & Grape were such a friendly, beautiful and very professional staffs. They helped and answer all our questions. Would definitely recommend this hotel to all my friends and families that are traveling to Bangkok.
