The staff was nice but some amenities weren’t available. There’s no directory in the room for the hotel so we never knew what time something opened or closed unless we asked. During our stay someone in the hotel called and said several racial slurs to us during the stay we assumed it was one of the children playing on the phone. There was a children’s team staying there during our stay. At the end of the stay the shower head broke and we let them know but no one came to see the room.

Wonderful hotel with friendly staff
Pros:

Lovely hotel, clean rooms, friendly & helpful staff. Airport shuttle did not pick late at night despite receiving confirmation. Otherwise, an excellent choice

Front desk reception crew held the ID of my girlfriend and basically treated her like she was a criminal. They were rude, dismissive and totally unlike any other experience in Costa Rica or at other Barcelo's. I tried Barcelo again on September 18, and once again the front reception gave horrible service. Why those employees still have jobs is beyond me. As much as I love the location and property amenities, I am DONE. I will find OTHER options.

I had emailed the hotel to pick me up from the airport and they never responded so we had to take a taxi to the hotel and check in took much longer than expected most likely due to understaffing.
