I have since confirmed that this Hotel chain INTENTIONALLY pumps toxic fragrances into guest rooms and lobbies!!!!
"Many major hotel chains, including IHG (parent company of Holiday Inn Express), use synthetic air fresheners, signature scents, or odor neutralizers in lobbies, hallways, and guest rooms."

The hotel reeked like a sewar. Inside the room there was a sickening air freshener that was so intense I could not breathe and it made my hair and clothes stink. I looked all over the room, but could not locate where it was coming from. I think it was under the bed because I could taste it as I laid awake. The air freshener was most likely put in the room to mask the sewar smell. The air freshener made me violently ill and gave me a migraine - ruining our weekend! We literally checked in at 11:30pm and checked out at 6am and drove the 90 minutes straight home instead of continuing to our planned destination of Starved Rock.

The hot tubs timer did not work and there was sand or salt all over the bottom of both hot tub and pool as if nothing was mixed in before the weekend. I was also charged a fee of $24.13 but never given a reason why, only that my $50 deposit would be returned upon my check out. The deposit did go back but this other hidden fee is upsetting, especially since my last visit here was wonderful so I expected the same experience.

Great Service
Pros:

We stayed at this hotel recently and it was an amazing experience! The staff were so friendly and accommodating. The room was super clean as was the rest of the hotel. The breakfast was delicious. We enjoyed use of the hot tub and pool! We are already talking about planning another trip to the hotel soon!
