Sydney ist ein Traum, das Hotelzimmer nicht. In den höher gelegenen Geschossen ist es bestimmt besser.
Pros:

Sehr gute Lage, die Oper, die Harbour Bridge, Haupteinkaufs- und Gastrostrassen sind fussläufig erreichbar. Die Lobby und das Restaurant sind sehr einladend, das Personal sehr freundlich. Schöner Pool im obersten (Hotel-) geschoss.

Cons:

Die Zimmer sind etwas oldstyle. Unsere gebuchten Zimmer mit Stadtblick boten einen trostlosen Blick in einen Hinterhof mit Garageneinfahrt. Man konnte genau bis zur 4 m entfernten dreckigen Hauswand blicken. Um zu sehen, wie das Wetter war, mussten wir das Hotel verlassen, das Zimmer war bei Sonnenschein genauso finster wie bei Regen.

Pros:

Did not have breakfast at the hotel as needing to leave early (earliest available breakfast was for 0700).
Great location in CBD.
Good availability of food (on site restaurants which opened until late) as well as selection on room service.

I really appreciated the use of QR codes for the mini bar as well as the recyclable bottles left in the room to obtain free water, saving on plastic.

Though I did not use it, the heated infinity pool was very tempting!

Cons:

There was cutlery from the room next door left on the floor just outside my bedroom door in the morning! Not the fault of the housekeeping staff though I didn't see a tray nearby.

A hidden gem in Darling Harbour
Pros:

Crowne Plaza Darling Harbour is a fantastic, modern hotel and one of the most pleasant surprises of my round-the-world trip.

The hotel is relatively new, and it shows. Everything feels fresh, contemporary and immaculately maintained. The rooms and public areas are spotless, creating a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere from the moment you arrive.

I reached the hotel at 7:30 a.m., fully expecting to leave my luggage and return later. Instead, the team went above and beyond to find a solution for an early check-in, which was greatly appreciated after a long flight. My IHG status was immediately recognised, and all the associated amenities were explained without prompting.

The hotel also offers a straightforward laundry service, making it particularly convenient for longer trips.

Breakfast is excellent, with a generous cold buffet complemented by a selection of freshly prepared hot dishes, all served by friendly and attentive staff.

The swimming pool and relaxation area on the ninth floor provide a peaceful retreat after a busy day exploring the city.

The location is another major advantage. Situated between Darling Harbour and the Town Hall light rail station, the hotel is perfectly positioned for sightseeing. It's also an enjoyable 30-minute walk along George Street to Circular Quay and Sydney Harbour, passing many of the city's main attractions on the way.

A well-managed hotel with genuinely welcoming staff, an excellent location and all the comforts expected of a modern Crowne Plaza. I would happily stay here again.

We upgraded one of our rooms to a city view and paid $50 extra for the privilege but the room that wasn’t upgraded had a view that was just as good🤦‍♂️ got a flippant answer from staff when checking out

Another FANTASTIC stay experience at Crowne Plaza Sydney Darling Harbour By IHG
Pros:

I stayed in Room 703. A bright, sun-filled room overlooking the CBD streetscape.
I had a delicious room service dinner.
I recommend the 250gr Angus steak and trio of gelato!
The housekeeping staff are bright, friendly and professional.
It is lovely to be remembered from previous stays.
Carlos and the reception team are consummate professionals.
IHG membership (free) unlocks early and late check-out depending on availability as well as free wifi.
Crowne Plaza Sydney Darling Harbour By IHG is my preferred hotel stay when visiting Sydney.

Good Location, Plain Hotel, Service could have been better
Pros:

Attended for a Conference at Convention Centre. Hotel provided the basics needed for work trip. Very basic hotel for the price, but again, like a lot of hotels, its the small things that add up for a negative experience. Fairly newish hotel/upgrade, but large tile in shower coming out and unrepaired. Room had still not been made up by 4pm in the afternoon and a bazar option for Breakfast when checking in. If you 'pre-book' breakfast its half price, but if you just attend breakfast in the morning, its full price ($45). To me, thats a huge disincentive, not a benefit.
