Svendsgaard's Inn

It’s a nice hotel. There’s actually a really cool food and drink place right across the street. Close to everything but not too close. The lady at check in was very nice. We got free cookies. Zero complaints and I love complaining

Lots of nice touches, such as a water bottles and dog poop bags around the property.

The room was very small and the bathroom was barely functional. The bed was adequate and the room was relatively quiet. Overall, the property has seen better days.

We arrived after dark and were still able to find the hotel. The lady at the front desk was VERY friendly and informative. The lobby has free chocolate chip cookies, tea, and coffee. The property is clean and easy to navigate, though maybe a bit dated and without quite as much charm as others in the area, but nothing to scoff at, especially for the price. The property was also very quiet. The complementary water bottles and water refill station were a major plus for us. The room was pretty big, the bed was comfortable, and the shower got hot and had good water pressure.

Great location. Hot tea & coffee and Cookies in reception are a nice touch. Dog friendly property but slight dog pee/poop smell around the grassy area and posts, and morning dogs barking wake-up calls. Rooms aren’t very private unless the blinds are closed. Our room (9) had a lovely fireplace and big double jacuzzi style bathtub. Water pressure was great in the shower.

The property was nice and we were happy to have a place to stay with my sister's dog. There doggie cleanup bags provided and a place to deposit them. The grass, however, was pretty torn up.

I will never stay here again! When I went to check in, the woman at the front desk asked for my credit card to charge me $30 for standard deposit and for “the room.” I told her I already paid for my room in full on “hotels.com” and she checked. She said she saw it was paid for, but her computer screen said I owed for the night plus the $30. She was trying to get the room charge off for about 20 minutes. She was looking ok’ing for another staff member to help her but couldn’t find one. Then suddenly she yelled out, “I got it! It will just charge you $30 now. Go ahead and tap your card on the screen.” I confirmed with her my card would only be charged the $30 and she says yes! She fixed the problem! The next morning I checked my bank account while I was out shopping in Carmel and saw my account was short funds and had indeed been charged for another night! I went back to the hotel and talked to one man then asked to talk to the manager. She came out and said sometimes “the system” does that and she would reverse the charges. It could take 7-10 days. She acted like it was no big deal at all and said gets all she could do. She was not in my corner as the customer and only backed up her employee and she continued to make excuses for her. I asked if there’s anything she can do to make this right because now my account is short on my vacation and she said, “I am getting the charges reversed and that’s all I can do.” She didn’t seem phased at all that her employee lied to me.

Svendsgaard’s inn has extremely high cost performance. The rooms are warmly and beautifully decorated, very suitable for family trips. The rooms are fully equipped. The fireplace brings warmth and beautiful memories to the children. The front desk staff takes the initiative to help carry luggage. Next time I come to Carmel, I will still choose this place.

We have always stayed here when we bring our dog. I was thinking today, that we will be staying here now even without the dog. It is clean, well kept, very friendly people, pool area nice, and so close to all of the shopping and restaurants near Ocean Ave. We really enjoy our stay at Svendsgaard's Inn.

The quietness at nighttime even with the windows open was great. People understand the after hours rules.

No issues, staff great..

Check-in was easy and the front desk personnel were warm and friendly. Coffee and tea is readily available at the lobby area for guests and the best part was the complimentary warm cookies in the afternoon.

As expected, the room was outdated and could use a refresh. The bed was comfortable and the room with the kitchenette was spacious.

For those traveling with pets, there is a lawn area on the 1st floor which makes it very convenient for potty breaks.

Overall, for the price, it was a pleasant stay. The location of the Inn is within walking distance to all the stores and restaurants which was great.

Quiet hotel in easy walk to all of Carmel’s downtown. Perfect place to stay!
