It’s a long time since we slept in a 4‘6“ bed in a hotel. As the hotel was less than half full an upgrade would have been a good idea.
On arrival, whilst checking in the receptionist decided to answer a phone call and continued talking while I was waiting to be checked in
Not sure when Days Inn took over, but it hadn’t improved.
Tinned tomatoes at breakfast !
Walking along cliff top in Ramsgate, got very cold, popped in for a drink at the San Clu. Warm friendly atmosphere, the barman (think his name was Finn) was very friendly and polite!... A pleasure. Will visit again!
Beautiful double aspect corner room, woke up and watched the sun rise over the sea. Room and bathroom were nicely decorated and clean. Bed enormous and super comfortable. Lovely breakfast and all staff were excellent. Would stay again. Ask for sea view.
The hotel looks old from the exterior but the interior and the rooms are very comfortable. We were fortunate to have an Executive Suite on level 1. It turned out to be a large room with a sitting area (sofa bed, coffee table, TV), large bathroom, wardrobe and then a wide enclosed balcony with its own fold up coffee table and four chairs. A stunning view up and down the street and out to see. Plentiful supply of tea, coffee and UHT milk.
We had dinner several times in the hotel bar/restaurant and were pleasantly surprised by the menu choice and serving portion.
The hotel consists of several buildings merged together, resulting in some rooms reached by taking the lift then half a flight of stairs. Every floor is carpeted so noise is kept to a minimum.
The staff are superb.
Excellent hotel staff excellent spotless
Excellent hotel great location staff friendly and helpful can’t fault them nice breakfast excellent room
Very helpful reservation team, had a few queries that were dealt with very easily.
The executive suite we had on the 2nd floor was really good, very clean, comfortable 4 poster bed, quiet with an amazing view across the sea from the enclosed balcony.
Great air conditioning, very useful on the hot weekend when we stayed.
The staff on the desk were friendly & helpful.
The one thing that really let the hotel down was the dining experience. The self-service breakfast was very poorly staffed, the food was ok but on both mornings some of the items were cold as the hotplates, on which the tins were laid, were virtually cold. Plates had to be requested when the initial pile had been used & they were brought out cold, so eating cool beans, sausage & bacon from a cold plate wasn't the best experience. The following morning most items were not hot, however we put them on our cold plates & then had to wait for new eggs to be brought from the kitchen. They were hot but by the time they arrived the rest had got colder!!
We did like the self-service drink machine with a good choice of hot drinks.
Small choice of breakfast cereals so for anyone wanting a continental breakfast there wasn't anything apart from a choice of 4 cereals, fruit juice & toast & jam.
Just to mention a super place for cake & coffee/hot choc, ices, cold drinks can be found at the end of Victoria Parade, go out of the front door of the hotel, turn left & walk for less than1/2 mile through the gates to the lovely park to find ALISON'S SEA VIEW CAFE. A great selection of home made cakes! (Not open for a couple of months in the winter.)
This is a really beautiful hotel in a great location. The Victorian architecture is very appealing and the hotel has been nicely done up so that the interior and amenities are modern but the hotel still retains its period charms.
We had one of the suites which had stunning sea views. What a view to wake up to! The 4 poster bead was also extremely comfortable and I slept really well. The room was well equipped with a fridge, smart tv and tea/coffee facilities.
The hotel is ideally located on the clifftop overlooking the sea. The beach is only a short walk away and easy to access via steps ( 5 mins and you are on the beach).
The restaurant and bar are good and we had an enjoyable couple of dinners in the restaurant. The Indian cuisine in particular was great. We enjoyed the live music on the Friday night too.
We really enjoyed our stay snd will definitely return. Many thanks!
Pleasantly surprised- good location, rooms were spacious and staff friendly and good
Nice clean room and bathroom. Bedding and pillows also clean. Balcony room with a great view was expensive, however with full breakfast included it seemed ok, that is until you get to breakfast and here is where it loses marks. It's simply packet cereals and then a fry up comprising bacon, sausage, fried egg, hash brown, tinned tomatoes and baked beans. (some times you have to actually pay extra for the cooked) It really is minimal effort. No pasties, cheeses, meats, breads. Aside from white bread and a toaster. No one bringing fresh filtered coffee just a help yourself machine. The food in the "Brasserie" also left a lot to be desired.
Found hotel to be in good location in a quieter part of Ramsgate on the sea front. Parking was easy as hotel out of the restricted parking zone ,it also has small car park .
The hotel has a lift to all floors and the room was quite large with side sea views and a large 4 poster bed, and bathroom with walk in shower. The cooked breakfast was included , we also paid extra for a evening meal that was excellent, also had live music on the Friday night at the time we stayed. Ramsgate harbour and town would be a 20 minute walk which is a lively town with bars and restaurants .
Great 4x poster bed with good pillows, room 313 is just lovely-quiet with a sea view and near the lift.Big bathroom plenty of hot water and big white fluffy towels.Staff brilliant, happy helpful and knowledgeable of the area.Especially the blonde lady on reception!
Excellent location; very helpful staff
I stayed here for three nights last week. Was really happy with the overall experience.
A very friendly and informative girl checked me in. My room, a fairly basic but spotlessly clean single, was fine and had a really excellent bathroom with an extremely good shower.
Given that my stay coincided with a serious heatwave, the very efficiently functioning air conditioning was very welcome.
The breakfast was good, also with good service.
And, the hotel bar is also good - especially good to sit outside on the terrace overlooking the English Channel with a drink at the end of the day.
Extremely noisy during the week early mornings with trash van and linen van collections at 5am. Outside noise in the evenings with traffic and party goers kept us up late.
The rooms were ok but they forgot to remove the many spider webs. Bed was quite uncomfortable but clean and staff made up the bed every morning. Tea and coffee available with bottled water each day.
Breakfast had a very good choice but evening menu was drab and normal restaurant menu had nothing appealing.
On a whole the staff were friendly and helpful and view was great.
I went here with my husband for a couple of days, we had a wonderful time looking around, enjoyed it so much that we are going back in August for 4 days staying at the San Clu hotel as before only this time our son and daughter and there respective partners have decided to come with us
Room was smelly, cracked wash hand basin, shower door didn’t shut, basically very overpriced. Breakfast was offered as continental but only full English was available. Had to wait for tea cups as were still in dishwasher, very dissatisfied
The hotel is much improved since it was under Comfort Inns. The rooms were lovely and clean and bathrooms very smart and updated.Breakfast was excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We would certainly return for another visit.
The position overlooking the sea was spectacular. The staff were friendly without being obtrusive. The entertainment on Friday evening was great fun.
