Quiet location up a hill with good views of the sea etc if you had a balcony room or from the pool area.
The hotel was built in 2001 so is at stage for bathroom upgrades at very least but rooms were good enough we had pool level with an open view but some were next to outside snack area and right next to sunbeds so privacy was a little comprised.
All staff were excellent, even the young guys on the bars, the pool bar was generally quiet on an evening so they must get bored .
Jet2 said in information that it was international drinks, maybe they were but not a brand in site I recognised, mixers from the tap and no bottled mixers which a little lacking.
Peroni on draught was only beer on offer which was fine but not everyone likes lager.
Meals were good enough and plentiful but , fish night I looked forward to but a few prawns and rubbery squid didn't quite do it although swordfish was fine.
Pasta with mussels was on offer and I was lucky enough to get 1 mussel!!
Brekkie was fine eggs made to order so always hot but required waiting if the omelette queue was big, small frankfurter sausages were a poor choice for me .
The walk to the shops was downhill and narrow roads and intermittent pavements so you had to keep and eye on traffic but the locals are probably used to it so no big deal if you liked walking but not suitable for the bad hip brigade.
Shuttle bus to Sorrento was regular enough and helpful, we walked it a couple of times into Sorrento so no big deal if you were able to.
Entertainment was ok if you liked it sedate, apart from disco night where the head waiter (uncle fester) was the dj and turned into John Travolta which to be fair was good if a little cheesy.
The other nights were OK if you liked it chilled and audience participation was the best way to generate an atmosphere.
Sunbeds were an issue on a couple of days and a suggestion would be to increase number on sun terrace to aliviate the issue.
Mine was removed from there to help out on pool area but no big deal.
All in all a nice holiday and hotel with great staff if just a little isolated which just took the edge off it slightly for us.
Never been to Italy before searched lots of areas and hotels .looking for late deal in July 2026 This gorgeous traditional old
School Italian hotel caught our eye .
Reading some reviews I really think they are very unfair . Mentions about food and choice . Your in Italy - if you ate out it wud be pasta , seafood, fish , pizza etc so not sure why ppl complain . Every breakfast loads of fruit , cereals , bread , omelette eggs cooked
To order , bacon etc . You didn’t need anything more . Lunch was around snack bar everything super fresh , lush salad and fresh pasta
And pizza with choice of grilled fish , chicken , pork -and deserts . The pickiest of eaters would find something to eat . Evening meal I have 2 fussy teenagers who found something they
Loved every night . always lots of choice -roast potatoes meat etc you don’t need a restaurant with a choice of 60 dishes it’s more quality than quantity . Rooms were stunning yeah some may say dated but pristine and clean bedding and towels daily . We had x2 pool level rooms were ideal . No issue for sunbeds - some ppl complained but if you want to rock up at 10.30 don’t expect a bed get
Up in good time ( just saying ) . mainly English guests all ages fab vibe although quiet . We’ve stayed in 5 star across Europe and yes it may not be super modern in parts BUT your made
To feel welcome ,like family not just a
Number like some huge 5 star places . It’s an older hotel and some ppls comments about things like carpet or marks in bathroom - come on does this really affect your holiday or do they just like to pick fault ! It’s situated in Sant Angello and yes the walk back is hilly but ppl need to do their due diligence and if walking or mobility issues may not be hotel for you somewhere more central ( with a treble price tag to match !) courtesy bus to Sorrento and back several times a day picks up at parco de sol you can get
Off there and shorter walk into Sant Agnello . My verdict - gorgeous place not all singing and dancing like some other all inclusive- for us the ideal place
To relax and enjoy Italian life .
Drinks 🥤 lots of cocktails , Baileys etc and peroni on tap . Red and white wine and prosecco plenty
Choice -
reception team were so helpful too . We back next year no question - great place , lovely food , great
Location (
For us ) grand la pace you have stolen our hearts ♥️
This is one of the finest hotels I have stayed...the decor felt like you are on a cruise ship. The location is perfect as you can walk to the train station and there is also a free shuttle bus that runs into Sorrento Town free.
The bedrooms are large and great for 2 adults sharing. Exceptionally clean and plenty of towels.
Its adults only so very peaceful and relaxing...plenty of space round the pool. Lots of different areas to sit and relax with a good selection of books to burrow.
People are friendly and staff are fabulous however it's a shame the young men working the bar are not so great.
They admitted being drunk on shift in the evening and getting wrong drinks for guests.
They where rude to some older guests and thought it was funny making the drinks way to strong to drink its unfortunate that they let the hotel down.
The staff in the restaurant where absolutely fantastic and couldn't do enough for you.
The Jet 2 reps in the hotel where friendly and helpful, our favourite was Victoria who was Italian and one of the best reps we have met. She is a credit to the hotel.
We went in April when it was quiet, great time to go as the weather was perfect and not to busy to take the trips available. It was the start of the season so perfect time.
Sorrento is one of the most beautiful places I have visited and would return...definitely to this amazing hotel.
The owners son, Angela who we met after I was rescued from a revolving door is one of the kindest gentlemen I have had the pleasure to meet.
Always had time to chat and ask how your day was going...
I would absolutely recommend this marvellous find and at a really affordable cost.it is very elegant and you would not find somewhere as stunning as this for the price.
Absolute gem of a place! Great stay, peaceful and relaxing but with the right balance of entertainment. A warm welcome and lovely staff with Giovanni the surprise all round top man!!
Lovely hotel, in a peaceful location. Shuttle bus available if you want the faster pace in Sorrento
Food was lovely and staff friendly. We love the adults only theme, we enjoy family holidays too but nice to get some peace away from the little ones.
Great all inclusive hotel for adults.Good aircon in rooms quiet rooms,no noise even though we were opposite the lifts.
Made in the old grand style.
Welcoming staff throughout.
Plenty of choices in the all inclusive food.We had to self limit our food intake to avoid putting on loads of weight as food is available pretty much all day.
Free coach to Sorrento is a bonus .
The hotel itself is lovely. It is clean, well-maintained, and the facilities are great. We really enjoyed many aspects of our stay, which is why it is such a shame that one experience overshadowed what was otherwise a pleasant holiday.
During dinner, my friend and I, who are two young women, were approached numerous times by members of the waiting staff who asked for our Instagram accounts. The conversation then progressed to them asking for our room number. We felt this crossed a professional boundary and left us feeling uncomfortable and unsafe.
We reported the incident to the hotel manager. They took the time to listen to our concerns and told us they had spoken to the staff involved. However, we later understood that the wrong member of staff had initially been spoken to, and we felt the seriousness of the situation could have been handled with more empathy and reassurance.
We appreciate that the manager did respond to our complaint, but when guests raise concerns about their personal safety, it is important that they feel heard and reassured. A more thorough investigation and clearer communication about the steps being taken would have helped us feel much more at ease.
We genuinely hope the hotel takes this feedback on board. The hotel itself is lovely, and we don’t want this to take away from the hard work of the many professional staff members. However, we also hope appropriate boundaries are reinforced so that future guests particularly young women or solo travelers can enjoy their stay without experiencing something similar.
This hotel is something I've never experienced before, it's so grand and traditional with lots of space , it's bright and airy in most places even though it has a lot of traditional charm , the entrance is lovely, it does have faded carpets and strange wallpaper and the paintings are all similar but it's lovely and welcoming. Staff are lovely, the food is mostly delicious. The drinks are ok , a lot of sugary pop and cocktails which got a bit too sweet but there's always water of course .
Only 1 relaxing pool here
I would recommend this for hotel adults.
The shuttle bus comes in handy because the hill would be too much to walk up and down.
Please ignore the negative reviews about this hotel. We have just stayed for seven nights, and it was amazing. From the moment you arrive you can see this is a luxury hotel. We stayed in a room on the side of the building with a view of Vesuvius and the bay. The room was on the fourth floor well proportioned with a large double bed. The air con was a god send as the temperatures soared. All the staff are attentive and work extremely hard to give you the best experience. Good breakfast selection including traditional, continental and omelettes cooked to order. Lunch was in a shaded area near the pool and again there was a good variety of hot and cold and delicious ice cream. In the evening the large dining room gave you the opportunity to sit with your partner. The food was excellent and the choice of meats, fish and pasta based second to none. We ate in every night as we did not feel we needed to go to the local restaurants. After your meal you can retire to the bar which again is a good size. The cocktails are amazing and all drinks are of a high quality. Again, the staff were attentive providing any drink you wanted. The hotel has a coach which takes and picks you up from the hotel to Sorrento centre and visa versa. We celebrated our 37th wedding anniversary during the stay and we could not have asked for a better hotel.
We stayed at this hotel for 10 nights from june 12th to 22nd.
The staff were so friendly and helpful, couldnt do enough for us, the lady on reception even took the trouble to help book us a couple of trips.
The decor is what i call art deco, and was kept nice and clean.
We celebrated our 31st wedding anniversary there and the gave us a nice bottle of champagne to celebrate.
There was a good selection of food at mealtimes.
The pool area was kept nice and clean.
The courtesy bus was a welcome addition as is a good 40min walk to Sorrento centre.
I will definately be looking to go back to this hotel again
La Pace is a typical " old style" Italian hotel. The lobby and entrance area is really spectacular. The welcome is professional but but friendly and the staff throughout the hotel are very helpful and attentive.
The rooms are clean and serviced every day and the restaurant is lovely. There is a good choice of food available at meal times and the all inclusive drinks package has plenty of choice. The pool area is clean but gets very busy at peak times.
We enjoyed our stay here on the Sorrento coast.
First impressions were excellent. The entrance is absolutely beautiful and gives the hotel a real sense of luxury. Unfortunately, once inside, it doesn’t quite live up to that first impression.
Our room was perfectly adequate. Yes, it was very dated, but it was clean overall. The one exception was an ashtray on the terrace that was already full of someone else’s cigarette ends when we arrived and wasn’t emptied at any point during our stay. The air conditioning worked brilliantly, which was a huge plus in the heat. We also had a lovely terrace, although it would have been much more usable if it had some sort of awning or shade. The bed consisted of two single beds pushed together, which wasn’t particularly comfortable, and the pillows were rock hard - honestly, it felt like trying to sleep with your head on a block of cement!
We’re a couple in our early 50s and, if I’m honest, we felt as though we’d accidentally wandered into a retirement village. The hotel had a definite “care home” atmosphere, which may suit some guests perfectly but wasn’t really what we were expecting.
The pool area could definitely do with some investment. We only spent one full day there, but both of us ended up with backache from the sunbeds. I genuinely don’t know how some of the older guests managed! Although there are signs stating that reserving sunbeds isn’t allowed, this rule is completely ignored. I went down at 7:30am one morning and managed to claim the last two beds that didn’t already have towels on them. The parasols have also seen much better days, and the exposed metal spikes are a bit of a hazard.
One thing the hotel does exceptionally well is its complimentary shuttle bus into Sorrento. It was always punctual, ran regularly throughout the day and made getting into the town centre incredibly easy without the hassle of driving or finding parking. It was one of the highlights of our stay and a real bonus when choosing this hotel.
Breakfast and dinner are served in the main dining room. The food itself was perfectly pleasant and tasty enough, but the biggest issue was that dishes didn’t seem to be replenished. Dinner is served from 7:00-9:30pm, yet on our first evening we arrived at around 8:15pm and there was very little left. Staff already appeared to be clearing away despite there being well over an hour of service remaining. The same thing happened at lunchtime by the pool. Food is available from 12:30pm, but if you arrive after about 1:00pm, many items have already run out. We quickly learned to collect our desserts at the same time as our main course because otherwise there often wasn’t anything left by the time we’d finished eating.
The cleanliness of the glasses and cutlery also needs improvement. I found myself swapping dirty forks on several occasions. On the plus side, the restaurant staff were excellent at clearing away used plates and glasses promptly, and throughout the hotel the staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful.
Would I stay here again? Probably not… although perhaps when I’m 90!
We booked this holiday at a very good last-minute price, so overall we felt we received reasonable value. Had we paid the full advertised price, though, I think we would have been quite disappointed. In its current condition, I don’t feel this is a true four-star hotel. However, with some investment and attention to detail, it really could be a lovely place to stay.
Anyone who gives this hotel a negative rating needs to give their head a wobble.
You certainly get the WOW factor on arrival.
Booking in was easy and took just a few minutes. We arrived late due to immigration issues at the airport, but food was made available in the dining room (@ 1.30am).
Room on the 3rd floor, disappointed that there was not a balcony, but its only a room and it was spacious and comfortable.
Breakfast was an assortment of continental and English, always something to start your day.
There are the usual towels being left on beds all day, but we should all be used to that "brits abroad". But we always managed to find a bed or a seat in the sun.
Dinner/lunch served by the pool, this is more snack time than a meal, but always a variety and hot.
Evening meal, I think the hotel has got this right(personal opinion). A meat table, different each night( not Pork every night via previous post) a variety of other dishes, but not the usual mass of food that usually goes cold or to waste. Dietary requirements are taken into account and if you have preferences, ask the restaurant manager who will be happy to help. Also the dining room is very spacious , so you are not on top of each other or waiting for a seat.
The staff in the dining room and at the various bars are excellent and very personable.
We did not take in any of the entertainment so no comment.
We stayed 26th June for 7 days, loved it and will return.
David & Jayne
AVID this is not a 4 star more like 3 as mentioned previously. Room was nice hotel nice food was terrible pork every night no verity if you like pizza you will not be disappointed. There are a lot if steps in the building before you get to the lifts. No where to walk from the hotel roads are to dangerous so you would need to use the shuttle. Would I return again no thank you
A lot of money for a 4 star very let down.
We had a lovely stay at this hotel. The room was spacious and very clean, fresh towels every day and complimentary toiletries. We were on the 4th floor with a balcony with beautiful views down to the sea. Breakfast was cereals, variety of juices, fresh fruit, different breads and pastries and several hot choices. Buffet dinner with plenty to choose from and always a vegetarian option. Giovanni and his team in the restaurant were very courteous and nothing was too much trouble. There is also a pool bar serving light lunches and snacks, ice cream etc. The decor is very Italian in style. The entertainment was ok but on our last night there was an Italian folk dance group that was very good. The hotel is a bit out of Sorrento itself but there's a free shuttle bus running up until late at night. We would definitely stay here again, very good value.
had high hopes for Grand Hotel La Pace, especially after seeing the impressive entrance. The lobby is beautiful and creates the impression that you're staying in a quality 4-star hotel. Unfortunately, my experience didn't live up to that first impression.
The room was very dated and looked tired and poorly maintained. The bathroom was disappointing, with rotting wood around the bath, and the shower wasn't functioning properly, spraying water everywhere. We had booked a double room but were given two single beds pushed together, which wasn't particularly comfortable.
Food
Breakfast: Limited choice, and the bacon was virtually inedible.
Lunch: Served outside beside the bar. It felt more like eating at a roadside truck stop than at a 4-star hotel, with little atmosphere or presentation.
Evening meals: Again, very basic. The food lacked variety, quality and flavour, and was well below what I'd expect from a hotel of this rating.
Pool
The biggest concern was the swimming pool. The water was very cloudy and looked dirty, giving the impression it hadn't been properly maintained. It looked like it needed shocking, and I wasn't confident it was hygienic enough to swim in.
Overall
The hotel has the potential to be much better because the building itself and the lobby are attractive, and the staff were polite. However, the bedrooms, bathrooms, food and pool maintenance let it down badly.
In my opinion, this is closer to a 3-star hotel than a 4-star hotel.
My ratings:
Lobby & first impression: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Rooms: ⭐⭐☆☆☆
Bathroom: ⭐☆☆☆☆
Food: ⭐⭐☆☆☆
Pool: ⭐☆☆☆☆
Overall: ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ (3/5)
I wouldn't return unless the hotel underwent a significant refurbishment and improved its food and maintenance standards.
Amazing hotel with royal decor, makes you feel like royalty, wonderful staff that attends to your every request, delicious food, very good bar.
There was nothing we didn’t like.
We have just returned from a weeks stay here & were so happy with our choice to stay here. We stayed as a couple in our late 30s/early 40s and loved the traditional, relaxed feel the hotel had.
We stayed in a triple room with a mountain view on the 6th floor. Very peaceful with no surrounding noise. Decor is traditional and authentic. Rooms were cleaned daily and maids did a great job. Room was very spacious with good storage options.
Food was served in the main restaurant for breakfast & dinner and the pool area for lunch. The buffet selection was more limited that other all inclusive stays we have visited but everything we ate tasted lovely and we always enjoyed our meals. During lunch there is limited seating in the shade which could be an issue for some.
Pool area is nice & relaxing. Similar to other guests, we did experience some struggles with sunbeds. There were not enough there for the volume of guests and feel more are required.
Entertainment is very relaxed. There is a weekly disco night which we did not attend. Some low key entertainment is on other nights.
The drinks menu has a good choice - the aperol and limoncello spritz' were lovely but they are served in a glass tumbler.
The shuttle bus down into Sorrento was perfect. Great schedule with departures running prompt and on time.
Overall a really lovely stay. Don't be discouraged by the negative reviews. I went thinking I would not enjoy the decor or aesthetic of the hotel as it is unlike our usual holiday choices, but we both ended up loving the decor and overall vibe of the hotel.
Would 100% go back.
Staff were all lovely - found everyone to be so calm & polite.
