Super 8 by Wyndham Santa Cruz Beach

We were really disappointed with our stay and wish we had chosen a different hotel. We travel as a family, so these are the things that stood out to us:

1. Breakfast was misleading. One of the main reasons we booked this hotel was the advertised breakfast, which showed eggs and breakfast meats in the photos. In reality, breakfast consisted of two types of cereal, cereal bars, bananas, coffee, and orange juice. When we asked, we were told they haven’t served the hot breakfast since COVID. We feel the listing should accurately reflect what’s currently offered.
2. The air conditioner didn’t work properly. The PTAC unit only blew air with the fan—it never cooled the room. We also noticed a pallet of replacement air conditioners being delivered during our stay, which made it seem like this was a known issue.
3. Very limited parking. The parking lot is quite small, which made parking difficult at times.
4. Small pool. The pool was much smaller than we expected from the photos.
5. Out-of-service vending machine. The soda machine was out of order, and the sign looked like it had been there for quite some time. We were told it was because of issues related to the homeless population in the area.
6. Our daughter’s belongings were moved without our knowledge. When we checked in, our room had a cot, and we assumed it was included. We left for lunch, and when we returned, the cot was gone. The front desk explained it had been placed in our room by mistake and would have cost an additional $30 per night. The charge wasn’t our concern. What upset us was that our daughter had left her clothes on the cot, and hotel staff removed her belongings and placed them into a suitcase without contacting us first. We feel a quick phone call asking us to clear the cot before removing it would have been the respectful way to handle the situation. Our daughter felt that her personal space had been invaded.

Breakfast is not breakfast it’s terrible

The only thing I don’t like is that the parking spaces are very tight, and people park poorly. We hade an issue with another tourist over parking because they parked badly leaving no room left and got upset. There needs to have control, someone should be there to direct people on how to park so we don’t run into problems with others we went there to have a good time.

Scruffy, rusty walls, almost impossible to park in the tiny car park, worst breakfast ever, place seemed to be on its last legs.

Just no elevator had to carry everything up stairs that were not safe because of all the cracks so we left our stuff in the car. This was our only complaint we had to keep going to the car for items.

The road noise was considerable, but it was worth it to us for the short walk to the boardwalk.

The parking is very tight.
Prices of room were high.

Breakfast is pretty basic. Maybe some pastries and different fruit. Discount for returning guests.

Thin walls. I could clearly hear the people next door talking and watching their tv loudly at 1am. Rooms facing the street will hear traffic all day/night.

It did not offer breakfast (besides cereal and coffee)

No early check in. Early check in costs $20 per hour. Check in is at 2pm.

The only thing I didn’t like was the weird people staying there but other than that, everything was perfect
