Lighthouse Inn at Aransas Bay

The beds are horrible for someone with back issues. They actually are double beds, not queen, as advertised, and they are bouncy; I would lean to one side and feel like I was going to roll off. My husband's bed is the same, and he had back surgery a couple of months ago. ago, and it wreaked havoc so we had to leave a day early and without a refund for that prepaid night. and the pillows are like a brick. I honestly wish the balcony railing could be lowered. You have to stand up to get a good view of the ocean bc the bars are so close together, and the top of it is so high that you have to stand. And the rooms are really small!

The only things I’d say that wasn’t well received was the hotel was at full occupancy and they couldn’t stay on top of breakfast the morning we ate there. An employee stated that the following day they had to throw a lot out so she wasn’t making a lot at a time but regretted doing so since they couldn’t keep up. We had to wait on eggs, potatoes, bacon, waffle batter, juice cups, coffee and coffee fixings. It was frustrating but not a big enough issue that we wouldn’t be back. The other issue we encountered was the day after we checked in, we were coming back and inquired at the front desk how to get to the pool. The woman; who I later found out her name was Kaycee, very rudely answered me but then rudely asked if we were even staying there. I was very caught off guard by not only how she spoke to us but also the inquiry. From someone that’s worked in customer service for 26 years, that’s not how you speak to a customer nor how you approach them with a concern.

carpet in the water side suite was a little dingy. Vinyl plank flooring would be perfect considering the elements.

The room was nice and I got the room with an AC unit.

The only discordant note during our whole 3 night stay this year was a short, grumpy older maintenance man who confronted us while we were relaxed by the pool lounge chairs the first morning, with our small Service Dog restrained in his cart and wearing his bright vest. When he noticed us there, I saw him make a beeline to our spot to grudgingly warn us, in front of other guests already there, that "it was okay to have the dog by the pool, but that we were not allowed to have him in the water", something we would have never thought of even attempting. We had given no indication of even wanting to place our doggie near the water, as I am a very disciplined, senior disabled military retiree and returning guests from last year! Most definitely, he seemed like an individual that's given a bit of responsibility, it gets inflated in his head and he enjoys the power trip in front of everyone there. Other guests even gave us a sympathetic nod, as they were also at a loss to explain his absurd remark. No further incidents with the "hallway proctor" after this!
