For us Our break in Ibis, Carlisle was enhanced by the friendliness of staff.
Pros:

The staff were extremely helpful and ensured that we were as comfortable as possible. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Breakfasts were deliciously well presented and plenty of everything.
Hotel does need a bit of TLC but the staff made up for the lack of frills.
Everyone from Manager to cleaner were so helpful and nice.

Cons:

The fact that IBIS do not appear to be spending money to update the hotel is disappointing as the staff go way beyond the company’s lack of interest to ensure visitors have a welcome break.

Best budget hotel I've stayed in for a long time
Pros:

Couldn't have asked more from a basic hotel stay. A well-located hotel with free car parking and an excellent cooked breakfast. The room's pod bathroom was compact but contained a large shower area with good water pressure and plenty of hot water and the room and a bed of a decent size and comfort. Despite facing a main road the window was double and secondary glazed. Opposite a Wetherspoons with a very large beer garden.

Cons:

Stayed two nights. On the second day Housekeeping only got to the room very late in the afternoon, apologising because they were short-staffed, so I decided to skip cleaning as I had already returned to the room.
Also it's in Botchergate which is not the most upmarket part of Carlisle. Not a problem for us during the week but might be a bit different at weekends

Good value overall. I would recommend for a stay of two or three nights or longer. I woul stay again
Pros:

Very good buffet with a hot plate and more continental style offerings. We requested quiet rooms facing the car park rather than the busy street. The rooms were really quiet and peaceful and great for a good night's rest.

Cons:

Rooms are generally clean. Nice comfortable beds. Spacious and very clean bathrooms. But I think the wood floors need a bit of attention around the corners, etc.

Great price, friendly staff , parking included bargain
Pros:

Location was central and 10 mins walk to the venue I was going to, the price was amazing and included parking, the breakfast was good, all you could eat and of a good quality, recently stayed at a hotel in Edinburgh that cost over 4 times as much and the ibis was so much better, staff friendly, room comfort, air con , shower etc very affordable and brilliant staff

Cons:

Rooms are a bit worn around the edges but nothing major
