Lovely hotel, the restaurant team did an amazing job - incredible food for Christmas Day. Would highly recommend for a trip over Christmas/New year. I have a food allergy and the chefs came out for every meal and talked me through what I could or couldn’t have. Only minor point for the hotel is that our bathroom needed to be refurbed, but overall we had an amazing time, would go back.

We recently stayed at the Hotel in the “Royal” part !! What I would say is that not having a evening bar area in this part of the hotel is a huge oversight, being able to have a quiet drink and listen to some music in the surroundings you have chosen to stay was disappointing, yes the other part of the hotel had a bar area, but if you have chosen to stay in an adult’s only area, there is a reason for that.
Agree with the comments on food, if you want to select hot food you want it hot, not lukewarm or cold….the plastic curtains in front of the hot food and salad appears to be a left over from Covid, not needed.

Afternoons around by the pool were peaceful and no pressure on getting up early for a sun bed, very relaxing.

Good price, clean and modern hotel, staff were friendly, good food and good alcohol options. Couple of points around potential improvements would be, the mattress protector on the bed I slept in was like I was sleeping on a plastic sheet! Crinkled and made noise with any movement, food was good but our first night, the international option was Mexican and they had some great options like tacos, nachos etc but pretty much all 6 nights after, it was different soups! We did really enjoy our trip though and would definitely return in the future!

Just spent an enjoyable 6 nights in the royal level hotel. We had a suite which was spacious and had a nice view. The hotel was very clean and all staff were pleasant and helpful.
The hotel is located about 30 mins walk from the beach but there is a free shuttle bus service.
The only slight downsides were that the evening entertainment was not too good and although the food was nice,it was a little samey.
Overall though a very nice hotel.

Nice hotel, but still quite disappointing.
The staff was friendly and helpful.
First room I was allocated needs a lot of improvements (bathroom, furniture, lights) and it was very noisy, being right behind the elevator. But we manage to change it in the third day. The second one looks better. A big thank to the staff for their assistance.
Breakfast was repetitive with a very limited selection and dinner was good, with plenty of choices most of the days, but the food was not at the level of other Barcelo hotels.
Overall, the hotel needs serious improvements in both its facilities and services

Good quality drinks and food. Lovely clean rooms and friendly staff. Food could be a little warmer but overall I would definitely stay again.

We recently stayed at the Barcelo Margaritas, adults only ‘Royal Level’. This did also give us access to the whole hotel complex including the family amenities which was useful for some nighttime facilities (evening covered pool bar etc)

Overall a lovely Hotel complex as you come to expect from Barcelo chain, landscaped very well, range of food was great and good quality well presented, the Adult Pool area has good sun exposure whilst the palm trees etc don’t create too much of a shade problem for sun bathing, in winter months you may have to move one pool side to next as the sun is lower. The App to have your drinks delivered direct to your sunbed is great and took a hammering :)
The Reception staff are wonderful and have great stories to tell if you take the time, however at check in time we had to wait near 30mins to get our keys/ wristbands as it’s quite a comprehensive detailed check in, but with only 1 reception staff on if there are multiple people waiting it causes a jam. If the ‘welcome bubbly drink/s’ was immediately available upon arrival whilst you waited (instead of only once you sat in front of the staff) it would make the wait a lot more pleasing especially after 8+ hours of travel.

The frequent hotel courtesy shuttle bus down to the Maspalomas beach areas was very useful and we made use of it multiple times, Maspalomas beach definitely worth a walk along the sea front for the designer shops and the light house area. Playa de Ingles for the Sand Dunes, atmosphere, endless bars and restaurants, completely different vibe to Maspalomas!

There were a couple of disappointments with the stay which are worth a note:
Room 1016 and probably 1017 should NOT be used for hotel guests! it sits immediately above the hotel storage area and so from very early in the morning the activity ramps up which comes with banging and rolling of trollies, staff smoking drifts into the open bathroom window, it did become quite noticeable after a few days, if we were staying longer we would have insisted on a room change. We heard someone say similar to the lower floor rooms so just take note on checkin and ask for a higher room.

A comfortable area to relax in the evening for the Adult only section was non existent, anywhere warm with access to drinks easily. Whilst there are 2 other bars about the hotel mainly in the family section they come with all the family noises which we were trying to get away from as Adult only stay . The Royal level needs at least an area (warm in the winter months) to relax after your meal, with easy bar access and just some soft light music playing in the background, doesn’t need singers or dancers etc, just a warm chill out area with bar access. There’s a seated area behind the Adult restaurant for use during the day which is very nice sun trap, but bar access is difficult there as that serves the restaurant so you do feel like your in the way and in the winter evening it is quite fresh out there.
We usually make our own entertainment, playing cards, people watching etc, but we mainly had to sit in the family pool bar which came with those expected noises. The one positive was the bar staff know how to make great cocktails :)

One of us did have a dodgy belly on the last day, obviously it could have been anything, easy to blame the food but who knows, did make for an uncomfortable journey home though.

Overall though a lovely resort, would possibly come back and definitely if the winter evening area was sorted.

If you are walkers do some research before you go as hotel does not help in this regard. We suggest a company called Climb based in Las Palmas who did a lovely all day tour to the volcanoes - but you need to be fit and mobile as some of the walk is challenging to non seasoned hill walkers. It’s steep in places over rough ground but well worth the effort.

Really good price/value ratio. The hotel is a bit further from the beach, so if you prefer to spend time on the beach, it may be a disadvantage. If you intend to explore the island like us, I definitely recommend it.
