I have good and bad things to say about this place.
I really was excited to stay here…..THIS IS A HILTON boutique hotel. Was expecting it to be on par with the Hilton name brand.
It is a Great location. Has Charming aspects….and was thrilled to get an early checkin -much appreciated.
It was nice to have a kitchen, and large room.
However , many things were awful.
EXPENSIVE FOR WHAT YOU GET
It’s not cheap, to stay here, and I don’t feel like the ammenities and room reflect the price.
SMELLY
The room has ancient smelly musty carpet, with bleach stains. It smelled like it was never aired out.
LACKING ROOM CLEANING
We did not know they only clean the room and make the bed every THIRD day! Which is insane for the price you pay.
So, after one day of no room being done, I was told to request room cleaning in person, which I did, and it still was mot done the next day, so I asked again….at 4pm that day, they said the staff go at 5, and I said well, they have an hour. Just unacceptable. It’s like a glorified backpackers.
The next day. Was told it would be cleaned at 10am, as per request. Never cleaned.AGAIN…After requesting.
When we asked at 4pm, another new face at the desk, same old line, we only clean every third day.
No one knows what’s going on here.
Also, before booking maybe they should tell you, they don’t have room cleaning, as most people assume that is a GIVEN in a hotel.
So, something to keep in mind, to mention.
OUTDATED SHOWER
The shower does not turn on or off properly and was a trickle.we had to get the maintenance man in to show us how to stop it from running, and to figure it out properly.
PRIVACY from street
The windows needed sheer curtains for privacy, as there are only block out curtains…so if you want privacy, it is literally pitch dark.
POOR BED
The room is so large, but only a double bed.it was too soft. Terrible pillows and linen.
LOBBY LIKE AN OFFICE
The entire lobby, every day, all day, is like WEWORK. Just laptops and singles taking up all tables and booths.which was beyond odd. There was nowhere for us to eat breakfast.all seats taken.everyone seems to come there ,to talk on phone, video conference, school work, god only knows what….but it’s not relaxing, which is a shame, as it is a beautiful space.
NOT ENOUGH COFFEE
Coffee is complimentary, in the morning , but they make two large pots, and if you miss out, they don’t make more.
But they do have jugs of lemonade and fresh cookies, which was a nice touch.
This place is like a 3 star hotel.
The concept is lovely but the outcome is lacking.
Where do I begin? My girlfriends and I loved our spacious grand residence room! It was stocked with a variety of hardback books that kept us company during the quiet hours of the day. Being near the coast made it possible to keep our windows open during the mornings and evenings. No mosquitoes anywhere! We also loved being able to walk down the street to shop for a few staples and prepare light meals in our stocked kitchen. The grounds were beautifully kept, and the building was designed with charming historical touches. The breakfast was delicious. We especially enjoyed the house made yogurt and granola. So delicious! Oh, and the people! Absolutely beautiful people - inside and out! I wish I could remember all their names since some didn’t have name tags. Bryan the valet was the sweetest person. He always had a cheerful disposition even when we needed our car several times a day for our excursions. I think we’ve found our forever home away from home.
Excellent hotel; lovely building, grounds and location. Very friendly and helpful staff.
We really enjoyed our time. It is a great location. Rooms are very spacious with very high ceiling unlike typical hotel. It is a old building so it has quirks but it was absolutely amazing and relaxing. Staff is very nice and freundly.
Great location, atmosphere and value. We arrived really late at night and check in was smooth and fast, and the super friendly staff even accommodated a late check out. And it’s a short walk to the beach if you want to jump in the water! We will be back.
Emplacement idéal. Chambre spacieuse et calme. Petit déjeuner parfait. Terrasse extérieure magnifique, jardin à l'entrée de l'établissement absolument superbe et bien entretenu. Batiment magnifique.
I had a wonderful stay at Maison Twenty Seven, the staff was friendly and welcoming, and the property is absolutely gorgeous. The room was charming along with the entire property.
A few small things kept it from being a perfect stay: I had requested their complimentary homemade cookies and a personalized celebration card to celebrate a birthday days upon arrival, but unfortunately never received either. I also had some noisy construction happening right outside my door on the morning of our last day, which continued throughout the morning which wasn't ideal.
That said, the charm and unbeatable location more than made up for it, and I'd absolutely return. I didn't get the chance to try the restaurant this time, but definitely would want to!
The cutest room and the staff was so friendly and helpful! Awesome location too near the restaurants, beach and Pier in Santa Monica. Quick drive to Malibu and the shops and beaches there.
Comfortable room with very cool decor. The hotel has bikes and lots go garden spaces too.
Muy lindo y bien ubicado. Staff excelente
Ducha mala. Ventanas antiguas no abren bien. Caro para lo básico
easy access to the hotel via unbusy street, valet-access to make street-parking an afterthought (though we found a spot right by the hotel for free) & a spacious, colorful, neatly decorated room. Lobby was immaculate and quiet, having the air of an old monastery.
Pleasant and helpful staff, charming building and location, and comfortable bed. Seems like a lot of deferred maintenance that new operators will hopefully address in time. I heard one patron exclaim, "I love this place, I'll be back!" so possibly some suites are more updated than mine? For the price point, I would have appreciated an included breakfast. Good food at the restaurant downstairs, would have dined there more, but people working remotely monopolized the most comfortable seating for what seemed like most of the day.
This charming old-world hotel perfectly balances thoughtful updates with its classic character and charm. The location is excellent, and the staff consistently goes above and beyond. From providing toothpaste when I forgot mine to bringing me tea and honey after the café had closed because I wasn’t feeling well, their kindness truly stands out. We always stay here when visiting our kids — it genuinely feels like our home away from home.
The building is unlike any other in Santa Monica with charming historical details. We love staying near the Montana area, too. It's quiet with plenty of cafes, restaurants and shopping. Staff is so friendly and accommodating.
Charming place with so much character and excellent location. We could walk to local coffee shops, restaurants, beach area. We were upgraded to a suite with beautiful balconies -- though the one night of our stay was hardly enough time to enjoy it! Service was very friendly and welcoming. Very comfortable sleep and accommodations.
We had a wonderful stay and Maison twenty seven. Beautiful, unique hotel that was beautifully decorated. The location is great, removed from the chaos but short walk to the beach and 3rd street/pier easily walkable.
The staff was the best part of our stay. Michael helped us with check in and restaurant recommendations and even upgraded us to a bigger space which was really wonderful as we were traveling with a toddler. Gavin went above and beyond, helping us get up and down stairs and elevators with our toddler and providing fans ect for the room. Dine helped with check out and was very kind and helpful. The valet staff was also wonderful.
They also had free coffee/homemade cookies/juice!
Can’t wait to come back for another stay!
We came back to this property after 4 years and yet again had the most wonderful stay. We had two rooms booked and both got an upgrade upon arrival which was a lovely surprise. This hotel feels like a cosy home away from home. Living room is charming and everything feels like an old world chic. Looking forward to be coming back!
I go down to Los Angeles every month for work, and i've been trying all of the nicer hotels in the area, and this one is my favorite. The minute you get to the property, you are met with peace and tranquility. The central area is so inviting, and there is a front area and back area to sit quietly and read or eat. It's the Chateau Marmont of the westside. Entire place is clean, rooms are inviting and have character. Looking forward to getting to know the staff more on return trips, all of them were wonderful.
Gavin was super knowledgeable and helpful.
Bfast was okay not great. Granola was a puddle of yoghurt with a few bits of granola.
Front staff were hit and miss in terms of how much they wanted to help, didn’t go out of their way to help with anything. Michael, who checked us in when we arrived late was friendly. Neri was lovely woman, personable.
The place has changed from when we stayed and it was PaliHouse owned. It is still a beautiful property but lacks the precious warmth.
