I was able to have my dog with me which was excellent. The room was basic and simple but comfortable. The price is lower than most places so this the lack of decor is reflected in the cost.
The food wasn't good, though I did like that you were able to eat in your room. The hotel had problems with the escalators, one wasn't working and as a result I wasn't comfortable using the other escalator, which at one point when I wanted to use it wasn't working. The staff were very helpfeul and there was a person on sight fixing them, as I was told the one that was working had only just recently been installed. I didn't want to find myself trapped in the elevator so used the stairs instead.
Staff in check-in were very helpful and polite. WIFI seemed to work fine. That is about as positive as I can be about this place.
Oh where to start...
Check-in was simple, got room key. Issues with lifts took a few minutes to get to room. When arriving, there was a sign on the door saying "do not enter, Ozone in progress". A trip back to the front desk revealed that previous occupant had smoked in the room, so it was being 'cleansed'. After accompanying to the room, the receptionist entered to find an odour neutralising device active which left a chemical smell in the room. We returned to reception and was given a new room on the ground floor.
The room was quite tired looking, but for a 3-star what else did I expect. As I was tired from 4-hours of driving, I just wanted to sleep. Judging by the burn marks on the table, this room had also been smoked in (what is wrong with some people!!). Neither of the bedside light worked. The main lights made a high pitched humming noise. The electric radiator was set to 8'c, so the room was freezing and took a while to warm up. The mattresses were very thin and didn't support very well. The duvet was also very thin, so had to take one off the other bed to double up. The shower had mould spores growing on the ceiling. The room was next to what I guess was a boiler/pump room, so there was also a permanent high-pitched whistling - had to try to sleep with pillows wrapped around my ears. At 1.30am it sounded like a family was being moved rooms, as there was some male voice apologising, whilst a loud woman kept complaining, followed by the sounds of screaming children running up and down the corridor and banging on doors. This was followed by the loud woman shouting at her kids to get in their room...
Finally got a few hours sleep. Good job I set an alarm because the requested wake-up call never happened.
Went to breakfast. There seemed a good selection of food, but it was terrible. If you enjoy your food at a cold-to-tepid temperature, then this is the place.
