After experiencing a horrible train journey from Bournemouth to Wakefield, the Kiln hotel was fine.
Pros:

I was very impressed with my 1 night stay. I had had a difficult train travel from Bournemouth. There were delays and cancellation all over the place from Kings Cross. My train was cancelled and I was lucky to get a train to Sheffield, then another to Wakefield. Although I thought it would be quite difficult to find the hotel off Denby Dale Road, the bus I caught got me there. The receptionist was cheerful and helpful. I had dinner there which was good and also an excellent breakfast in the morning. Very good staff and certainly value for money. Thank very much. Richard

Cons:

Just a larger towel in the bathroom would have been more useful. By the way, it's not Mary that stayed at the hotel, it's Richard who was your visitor!

Cheap overnight - glad it wasnt longer
Pros:

Bed was ok
Options for more pillows - non slip bathmat etc were available but need to be asked for at reception ( but once i'm naked in the bathroom and the taps are running the last thing I want to do is walk outside in the rain and try to find a member of staff - then wait for an hour or so for a bathmat ) - these things should be there to be used when needed.
Breakfast was good - but confusing. You need to book a time and at 9.00am I was told it was far too busy - so I booked 8.30. and sat in an empty room, at at around 9.00am 4 people arrived and including me that was 5 in total and it stayed that way until I left at 9.30

Cons:

Noise from bathroom extractor fan ( that does not ever stop ) was like a drone flying overhead
View of a 'wall' of dry grassbank from the window - nothing can be done about this as the building is in the middle of a poor industrial estate.
**** DREADFULL - having to book in car to the carpark on a machine that does not work - add this to receptionists job it takes her 10 seconds !!! - but thats 20 minutes of my life that I can't get back and I'm expected to pay another fiver - but then the girl says 'don't worry - it never works correctly and the parking is free anyway?
Carpet squares don't meet - not a disaster but uncomfortable underfoot
Left the cleaners stuff on the worktop as she may need them next day - don't know what she did after leaving my room that morning
It was a Campanile - and this showed, Changed its name but not its quality
