La vue sur le lac extraordinaire
We had the most amazing time at Kamana & will be booking in at Kamana every time we are back in Queenstown. To Andrea at reception & all the staff at Kamana for their amazing service & genuine kindness. We met some amazing people here. The rooms & the entire place is immaculate. Thank you Kamana Lakehouse
Stunning views and fabulous food served by really lovely staff.
We loved it!
Room was comfortable and spacious. The hotel restaurant and bar was also great.
The value for money seemed to be lacking. For close to AUD 650 per night, there seemed to be a large lack of services, amenities and staff assistance.
Wonderful views from each room with was very clean and tidy. The restaurant has a great atmosphere.
The degustation menu with matching wines was superb.
Great view and great staff.

Was probably a great view once upon a time, but overlooks a condo development and active construction today with regular tours taking place. Not a pleasant picture and absolutely no privacy on what should be an enjoyable deck. Food at the hotel is crazy expensive, especially given fixed choices. Far better to Uber into town for many food options at more reasonable prices. Uber worked great. Thanks to Jimmy for promptly bringing us better pillows.
The dining and bar facilities were brilliant and quite good value.
Moving around the property was a bit awkward at times.
It is a long way away from the town, but this gives it the exceptional views.
The view from Nest restaurant is amazing. That’s what got us there.
View from our room quite obstructed by the hotel roof and overlooked the car park. I was expecting more for the price.
U fortunately building going on in front of the hot tubs detracted a lot from the experience.
Beautiful setting and the wedding were beautiful. enjoyed the stay at Kamana Lakehouse.
Enjoyed the soak in the hot tubs, service was great for breakfast and overall front of house.
The interiors of bar /dining and the view of the lake.
The hotel itself looked dated once you stepped out of the lobby and dining areas. You can tell they spent all their time on the common areas and neglected the rooms.
Hospitality was poor for the amount you’re paying. The restaurant was fully booked out so we had to settle for bar food only.
They don’t advertise it but they have HUGE construction going on right in front of the property. If you walk out on to their main deck it’s just below it and in front of their spa and other guest rooms.
I travel to Queenstown often and I usually stay at the St Moritz which is bar far superior for similar money and closer to town. Only reason I booked this location was because they offered rooms with 2 beds for my travel dates at a “high end” hotel level.
Kāmana Lakehouse has beautiful views (we had the Lakeview Luxe room) but the service was lacking for a property that cost us nearly $3,000 USD for a three night stay.
We travelled the South Island for a little over two weeks in February on our honeymoon and this was our one “no budget” stay. Weary from several days of road tripping, we parked in front of the hotel expecting a warm welcome and some assistance with unloading our luggage. We received neither. After checking in with the front desk associate, we dragged our luggage to our room ourselves over a couple of trips in the small lift near the lobby.
Upon entering our room, we noticed that it felt much smaller than it appeared in photographs. You are definitely paying for the balcony and view. We had a dessert and handwritten card in our room, which was appreciated, but the card celebrated the Lunar New Year and not our Honeymoon. This disappointed us as we had mentioned our reason for visiting to the property a couple of times before our arrival.
A few other comments:
We skipped the soak pools due to construction since according to the front desk you cannot see anything from them while construction is ongoing. I’d estimate that construction is probably a year out from finishing.
Dinner and breakfast at the Nest were good and the views there lovely.
A couple of weeks after our stay we spent three nights at the Park Hyatt in Auckland for almost 1/2 the price. Our luggage was quite literally taken out of our hands and brought to our room before we could complete check in. At check-in, the front desk associate warmly welcomed us, introduced themselves, congratulated us, and enthusiastically explained all of the amenities at the property. Throughout the rest of our stay staff members greeted us by name, the breakfast wait staff remembered our coffee orders, etc. This is the level of service I would expect from a boutique property.
Overall we appreciated our time in Queenstown but would probably choose a different property on our next visit.
Extremely Extremely Poor Service, we paid approx. NZ 2,500 for our 2 night stay & it was the worst stay experience for the both of us till date. For this handsome amount for a 2 night stay, one would expect top notch service but in return we faced not 1 but 3 terrible incidents during our stay.
Incident-1
The shower area of our washroom was leaking a lot of water which eventually led to the entire washroom floor being covered in water, upon notifying the same to maintenance during evening time they assured us that it’ll be rectified tomorrow as in the evening time there is no one from maintenance who can take care of it. To our surprise, the next day also it wasn’t rectified and we were just given 2-3 towels to put on the floor & use the washroom as it is. Very disappointing & dissatisfied response from the hotel team.
Incident-2
The Front Desk never picks up calls from afternoon-evening, this is very much concerning keeping in mind a guest might be in need of help, at least one should answer the call or have the courtesy to call back & check.
Incident-3
The door lock of our room was not opening through the card key & upon a continuous to & fro by the Front Desk team, it was found out that the door lock machine has ran out of battery & the room can only be opened with a manual key so we were advised that every time you leave the room & want to enter again then pls get in touch with the front desk, they will come with you to your room to open the gate manually.
Never recommending any of my friends & family to stay at KAMANA Lakehouse.
Fabulous luxury hotel nestled at the top of the hill jist a short drive or walk into the centre of Queenstown. David the manager runs a great hotel. We had a fab room overlooking the lake. Staff very efficient and we were looked after for our special anniversary
