Absolutely loved our stay at The Wallace.
Lovely staff, beautiful interior and lounge/jazz bar, fantastic rooms. It has a lovely classy calm vibe unlike so many of the ‘party’ type hotels we had looked at before booking.
Our suite was perfect. Loved the electric blinds, comfy bed, big shower, wet bar area and great view. It was so nice to be able to come back to it after a long day sightseeing. Maid service was great, not that we needed it everyday.
Happy Hour is lovely in the bar with great cocktails, live music and complimentary fries.
Great location, close to a multitude of pubs, restaurants and cafes and a 5 min walk from either 79th St or 72nd St subways. But away from the crazy hustle and bustle of say Midtown.
The close by Fairway Market and beautiful Citarella shops are an ideal place to pick up supplies for the room.
No specific restaurant at the hotel (not that we would have used it). We loved The Wallace! Thank you.
I would recommend 100%, Room was exceptionally clean and staff were so pleasant and accommodating! The lounge was a perfect blend of moody jazz bar and a chic modern spot.
Upon arrival, the hotel staff was kind enough to immediately check me in the room on the 12th floor - which I really appreciated after a very long flight. I stayed in a Superior Queen room which was clean, comfortable and quiet. When I requested a microwave and a desk lamp, both items were promptly provided. All the staff I interacted were professional and friendly. The room key card was necessary to use the elevator. The hotel is located a few blocks west of the Central Park, several subway stops are nearby, and a bus stop is just around the corner. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes in the neighbourhood, as well as the supermarkets/delis to purchase snacks.
I very much enjoyed staying at the Wallace, and would recommend this place to anyone who values professional yet friendly atmosphere, and who can comfortably navigate the city with the public transportation.
This was our second stay at the Wallace. Staff are exceptionally nice and helpful. Everything is in good working order. The hotel is in a nice neighborhood, with subway and buses nearby, so it’s easy to get around. The room was quiet, and spacious.
This hotel is lovely. Slightly pricey but worth it. The UWS is a bit of a hotel desert. Not a lot of options that are this nice. Highly recommend. Also super convenient to the train including the 2 express so easy to get into midtown.
Best sleep I ever had in a NYC hotel! Rooms are exceptionally quiet. Great location close to Central Park, museums and cafes/restaurants. Warm and welcoming staff. Stylish lounge with live jazz several times a week. Will definitely book again.
The Wallace continues to be one of the best hotels in NYC! The staff always go out of their way to make sure that your stay is perfect.
The Wallace is an outstanding hotel, and much of its success is due to its hard-working, attentive staff. They pay attention to detail and are so friendly and helpful. The manager, Justin, was particularly helpful, but the entire staff operated with professionalism and expertise.
The location is ideal; the UWS is beautiful and full of good restaurants at many price points. In addition, the hotel is located near two subway stops, Central Park, and a pleasant stroll from Lincoln Center.
The rooms are very well appointed with everything that we needed. In addition, they felt refreshed (unlike many Manhattan hotels that are a little shabby). The bar is beautiful: lively at night and a quiet spot to work during the day.
I booked an upcoming stay for March and have already experienced an exceptional level of service through the conversation I just had with Durelle, who assisted me when I called to inquire about room types and locations. He went above and beyond, spent considerable time reviewing all options, describing each and accommodating my needs. I've stayed in another hotel nearby for many years (and tried others around the park) but am looking for a new favorite as my former favorite has not kept up with the times! Having already been to the Wallace last fall for a lovely evening in their beautiful jazz lounge, I can see that the entire property is special so hopefully I've found my new favorite hotel on the UWS. Looking forward to staying and enjoying the entire experience in March!
Great room, great staff, great hotel - Listened to some jazz in the lounge before going out Saturday night next to a ski lodge worthy fireplace.
I contacted The Wallace with routine pre-arrival questions and received rude, unprofessional written communication from Justin Cordero (Director of Front Office).
I escalated to Victor Freeman (GM/Owner). He confirmed he reviewed the emails, dismissed my concerns, defended Justin as “faultless” with “99.9% of guests,” and then recommended I cancel because he felt a satisfactory stay was unlikely.
There is also a March 2024 TripAdvisor review naming Justin Cordero, suggesting this behavior is not isolated.
I canceled and booked elsewhere. If you care about professional service, choose a different property.
The Wallace is in a perfect UWS location. It has all the things that I like when I travel: larger quiet room, robe and slippers, good blow dryer and products, free snacks and water bottles, tea pot in the room, cozy bar area with a fireplace, happy hour wine prices. Subway is nearby as well as restaurants.
Located in a quiet neighborhood of the Upper West Side but an easy walk to Lincoln Center, Central Park, the Frick and transportation. The lobby and lounge are warm and inviting. Rooms are tranquil and well appointed. All in all a great place to stay. We will be back!
I very much enjoyed the experience of staying two nights at the Wallace Hotel. The room was perfect, location ideal, and staff friendly and very helpful.
A beautiful hotel with a staff that feel like great neighbors! Espresso machine in every room and the neighborhood is just the best. I brought my one year old dog and The Wallace is only two blocks from Riverside Park and a few blocks from a great dog run. The Lounge has amazing cocktails. Please, more hooks in the bathroom!!
Fantastic rooms, great service. Bar with live music, yet very quiet rooms. Clean. Beds and pillows are just like home. We had a great stay.
We stayed one night NYE . I found the hotel looking for a place within walking distance to the Beacon Theater where we were going for a concert. The walk was a quick three blocks. Having never been to this property before, I signed up for the Insider. I’m not sure if that had any effect on our reservation, but when we walked in on December 31 Durrelle at the front desk welcomed us, and said we would like to upgrade you to a queen suite. When we went upstairs to the room, we were pleasantly surprised at how large a room it was and how upscale and newly renovated it appeared. The room even had a balcony which, even though it was freezing out. We went outside and enjoyed the view for a few minutes. The hotel was just great. We went into the lounge for a drink before the concert. All the staff members we dealt with were polite and friendly. I’ll definitely go back in the future if the need rises.
Loved our stay. Room was perfect. Large and clean. Everything I read in the reviews turned out to be true. The hotel lounge is a great meeting place in the winter. I agree with others that It would be even better if they provided real coffee/tea service in the lobby.
The Wallace is a fabulous small hotel. Excellent staff, beautiful rooms and a great location on the upper west side. Many great restaurants nearby, and close to metro stations. The Wallace Lounge attached to the hotel is a wonderful spot for great live music.
we enjoyed our stay at the wallace so much! great location, comfortable and clean! Had a wonderful trip to NYC and would stay here again.
