We were in San Antonio for a family wedding and chose the Mokara. What a fantastic choice it turned out to be. We were booked for two night but due to an ice/snow event at home in DFW we needed to extend our stay. The Mokara accommodated us for the additional two nights. This is a beautiful boutique hotel on the Riverwalk and we enjoyed our stay and will return on our next visit to San Antonio.
This is my second time staying here. The first time was very nice- the room was spacious with a beautiful view. The second time we were placed in a room facing a full brick wall. I asked the front desk about it but they were pretty dismissive. The hotel advertises itself as luxury but this may not be the most accurate descriptor.
First time stayed at this Omni affiliated property on business trip. Was a great experience. Highly recommend staying at this this property. I love the Omni La Mansion, but this is the grown-up version. Lobby is really charming like an old grand hotel. Gym is great. Pool with great view of city Skyline. Room on with river view and balcony was very opulent. Great get a way for a couple. Front desk staff very accommodating. Very Early I morning asked for coffee they immediately went to kitchen and got me some. Will stay again and bring my wife next time as property and service will impress.
My husband and I were really excited for this trip because it was the first step of our honeymoon. We got married on November 8th, and with everything going on in life and work, we decided to treat ourselves and celebrate in stages. This was our first time staying at a luxury hotel like this, so we were looking forward to the experience.
From the beginning, the staff made a wonderful impression. The first two valet attendants we met were so friendly and helpful, directing us where to park. Then we met Shannon at the concierge desk, and she was absolutely amazing. She has a real gift for making people feel welcome and comfortable. Room service staff were also kind and professional each time we interacted with them. We truly have nothing but great things to say about the people who work here.
Unfortunately, the experience itself did not meet expectations, and most of what went wrong was due to unclear communication. I found the hotel through TikTok and called what I thought was the property directly. It turns out it was a third-party booking service, and the information I received was inaccurate. I was told we'd have a Riverwalk view, and that our room would have a soaking tub with jets. We also were not told that the spa facilities are not co-ed. Because of this, we were unable to do a couples massage on site and had to go to another spa (Woodhouse) instead.
We had heard great things about the dining, but when we arrived, it was brunch with a completely different menu. Had we known, we would have come for dinner instead. The brunch food was not good and felt like a waste of both time and money, though our server was wonderful and took great care of us.
When we finally got to our room, at first glance it was beautiful—rose petals on the floor and a romantic setup that made us excited for the evening. But when we opened the curtains, we realized our window faced a brick wall. No view at all. After being told to expect a Riverwalk view, this was extremely disappointing and honestly took the wind out of the entire experience. So much of what we were looking forward to—relaxing in a nice tub, enjoying the spa together, taking in the view—just didn’t happen. It felt like we paid for an experience we never actually received.
If we had gotten the room and amenities we were promised, the room itself would have been an 8/10. But without a view and with the missed expectations, it drops to a 4/10. The staff was wonderful, and none of this reflects on them. However, the lack of accurate information and the mismatch between what we thought we were booking and what we actually received made the stay disappointing overall.
I wish we could have had the full experience to give a proper review, but we didn’t, and that’s what made this stay feel like a waste of money instead of a celebratory honeymoon moment.
Amazing location. Hotel is beautiful the balcony view rooms are perfect for people watching looking over the river. Clean room with amazing bathroom and really comfy bed. The staff were all amazing from valet parking, reception and pool staff. We loved it so much we booked an extra night. Highly recomended
Excellent hotel. I don't expect to come back to SA but if I did I would very much look forward to staying in this hotel. Very friendly staff. Beautiful hotel atmosphere. Exquisitely decorated and clean rooms. Hotel restaurant is above average (though a bit pricey). Only complaint, which does not remove my 5 start rating, is that I like a hotel lobby bar that stays open late. No food or bar on in the lobby level. But there are plenty of options nearby on Riverwalk.
Hotel in a good location, adequate room amenities.
Upon arrival requested a kettle and a mini fridge, within 4 hours I had to request it one more time and finally begged to have it delivered, finally arrived.
Be extremely careful,if you are part of FHR, at checkout I was charged for expenses covered by the credit. Certainly was not expecting this experience.
Beautiful property! Great location right on the Riverwalk! Suite was spacious with two full bathrooms, living room and bedroom. Rooftop pool was quiet and had food/drink service as needed. Staff was friendly and very helpful, especially Shannon the concierge with some great suggestions on activities and restaurants. Unfortunately the spa was closed for renovations but would love to return and try it!
Everything in order
Excellent hotel and perfect location, will definitely return!
Exceptional service, clean and modern rooms, front desk was welcoming and helpful!
My family and I stayed for a family getaway and were completely impressed by the hotel. It was conveniently located on the Riverwalk and loved the local restaurants. The service of the staff was TOP NOTCH!
Love this hotel for the spa. Excellent for a romantic and relaxing getaway.
Great hotel with wonderful staff
We did not have a balcony. The beds were not big enuff for 2 average people they were very small. When asked do r better view I was told they didn’t have one.
I booked a stay at Mokara Hotel & Spa in San Antonio for my birthday and was extremely disappointed with the experience.
I arrived about two hours early for check-in and was told my room would be guaranteed ready by 4 PM. That was fine, so I decided to use the spa. Unfortunately, no one explained that I could have entered through the spa and used a locker, so I ended up changing in the pool restroom, which felt far from welcoming.
After 4 PM, I finally received a text that my room was ready. I walked in excited for my birthday staycation — only to find a standard double instead of the deluxe king I had reserved. No one at the front desk had informed me that my reserved room was unavailable. When I addressed the issue, I was repeatedly told that there was “nothing else available,” and the front desk was dismissive and unaccommodating. Only after a lot of back-and-forth did they finally offer a very small king room, but by the time I got into it, it was nearly 5:30 PM.
This delay completely disrupted my plans. I had a concert at 6 PM and had to skip my birthday dinner reservation at the hotel’s restaurant, eating quickly at the pool instead. On top of that, my bags were never delivered to my room — they weren’t waiting in the first room, nor were they promptly brought to the new one. I had to ask multiple times before they finally arrived.
What should have been a special and relaxing birthday stay turned into stress and disappointment. The lack of communication, transparency, and hospitality — especially at the front desk — was unacceptable.
This was a wonderful location along the river walk. The staff was friendly and made you feel welcome. They really tried to make your stay special. The only thing we didn’t like was that the air conditioning could not keep up with the heat and and also construction was going on and woke us up every morning.
Exceptional!
Customer Service is second to none.
Location, internal restaurants, and deck top pool were awesome.
I had an amazing stay and will 100% be back soon!
Great property.
