Pros:

An OK price for a very basic room. Great location. Hotel was not memorable. I will not go back.
Pros:

Excellent location within easy walking distance to Times Square, Rock center, Bryant Park, 5th Ave, etc.

Cons:

Hotel is dated, very basic - a small-ish room with a TV, and a bathroom. .... No coffee in the building.

Fast, economical, and comfortable. One of the desk clerks is a real gem of an old-time New Yorker.

Simple, clean, comfortable stay in a perfect Times Square location — great value for NYC.
Pros:

Stayed here for the location and it really can’t be beat — just steps from Times Square and the Broadway theaters. I had a queen room that was actually larger than most Manhattan hotel rooms, which was a nice surprise. The bed was comfortable and everything was clean. It’s a pretty standard hotel and not fancy, but for the price it’s a great value and worked perfectly for a NYC trip

Cons:

They do charge $25 for early check-in if a room is available, which is something to be aware of.

The room doesn’t have central heating or a thermostat. Heat comes from a radiator, and the window A/C unit isn’t fully sealed, so the room was a little chilly during my winter stay

There’s no microwave or mini refrigerator in the room—just a heads up.

Great location and nice people . Hard to beat for value.
Pros:

Location excellent and staff helpful

Cons:

Needs some TLC but not major things . Example - sink faucets had “hot and cold” markers gauged off the tops. Works fine but should be fixed. Bed was comfortable,room a bit hot.

Great location for a weekend away when you aren't planning to spend a lot of time in your room.
Pros:

The location is excellent. Very close to Times Square but not right on the main street so noise is minimal. Front desk staff was professional and helpful. Despite not being a 'big name' hotel it felt safe and comfortable.

Cons:

It's an older building that could use some freshening up. My room was clean and the bed was comfy but everything was very 'economy'. Scratchy towels, cheap amenities, slightly broken bedside lamp etc.

タイムズスクエア周辺の散策に適したホテル
Pros:

・ロケーションが良く、タイムズスクエア、ブライアントパークといった観光名所の散策に適している。夜遅くにシアターディストリクトにあるjazz clubに行ったが、ホテルまで歩いてすぐに帰宅することができた。
・チェックインの1時間弱くらい前に到着したが、部屋の準備が出来ていたため早めにチェックインをさせてくれた。
・この価格帯にしては部屋が広く感じた。一人旅に適していると思う。

Convenient, clean and value for money in New York
Pros:

Hotel St James is close to Times Square and was convenient for our stay over new years eve. It's an older hotel though the room was clean with a hot shower and served our needs.

Cons:

The bed required a new mattress. The springs were making noises and was not the most comfortable to sleep on. A little bar fridge and coffee making facilities would also be nice for guests in the future.

Great Budget Option
Pros:

We used this hotel for a mother/daughter trip and it worked well for our purposes. The location is perfect. Our view was odd: our windows looked out on another building's windows, which were very close to ours. It seemed to be a co-working space. We kept our curtains closed the entire time because the people in those windows could clearly see right into our room. If you can deal with that, I highly recommend this hotel.
