We stayed at this hotel my husband and I over the long Easter weekend just gone as Easter Sunday was my birthday
I will start with the positive about this hotel:
1)The location cannot be beaten high up overlooking the bay down below it commands beautiful views over the bay below
2)The food in the restaurant was top notch and reasonable for the quality at both breakfast and dinner
3)Though the room was really dated it was clean and the digital shower in the bathroom was really easy to use and very good too
5)Though we didn’t need to use them the hotel has 3 charging bays reserved for electric vehicles for convenience
6)The hotel stay with breakfast is quite reasonable in our opinion for the location of the hotel
The not so good :
1)It’s not a 4 star hotel in our opinion due to the dated decor and lack of amenities like a pool or gym perhaps
2)The decor in the rooms and reception area is dated and rather bland (a shower curtain in the bath !Its a no no as far as I’m concerned)
the hotel could really do with being spruced up both outside and inside
3)Though we had a small balcony with nice side sea views, the balcony “floor” was so dirty you couldn’t step outside on it as you would bring back all the dirt and mud straight on the bedroom carpet which already had find dirt stains there from that I’m guessing…
4)The restaurant has amazing sea views and a lovely terrace but the harsh spot lighting at night spoils the enjoyment of the views as when the daylight goes down all you can see is the reflection of the restaurant in the windows not the view outside !Shame really as I said the food is top notch but the atmosphere is spoilt by the lack of dimned softer lighting! For that reason we only ate dinner there once on our 3 night stay!
5)The male supervisor at breakfast time was rather miserable and curt imo…the other waitress and waiters were all very pleasant though
6)It’s the little personal things that makes great service really and a hotel stand out from the rest …Although I had mentioned Easter Sunday was actually my birthday and the reason for our 3 night stay when booking ,this was never acknowledged by anyone at the hotel during our stay which is a bit disappointing
7)Finally we have an electric car and the hotel has 3 chargers at the back of the hotel which is great..
We didn’t need to charge during our stay but on one occasion the main car park was full and we didn’t know there was a 2nd car park so we parked on one of the 3 charging bays
Out of courtesy I told the friendly polite young man at the reception that that was the case and was going to leave my number if someone needed the space to charge. He said ideally I shouldn’t park there which I totally agree and told me about the 2nd car park we had not seen so asked us if we could move our car now …I mentioned that there was a rather battered looking old car parked on one of the EV space that shouldn’t be there and could only refer to it as an “old banger” as sorry to say but the condition of the car was really bad!He then told us that was his own car!!!Oops that was awkward !So I challenged ,in a polite and joking way, the fact he was asking us to move our electric car which we were happy to do anyway whilst he deemed it ok to park his own car there which isn’t even electric in the first place ?The cheek of it lol!
So I asked him if he was going to move his car too then and clearly by then he was (understandably)offended I had called his car an “old banger”and that I had challenged him about parking there …in my defence I have driven plenty of older cars in my youth nothing wrong with that but his really was in a poor and dirty condition…had I known the car belonged to him I would have never made that comment but this young man is so well presented overall ,would have never guessed it could be his vehicle to be fair!
We moved our car straight away but this episode just didn’t sit right with us.
Overall we enjoyed our stay as the area is lovely and we had a really nice time but the above points I mentioned could in my opinion have made our stay much better
This hotel is good enough but could be so much better though…
Good location
Looking a bit tiered in places
The garden area was lovely over looking the sea.
Lack of staff so you was waiting for a long time for drinks and food. The website for the view menu restaurant was nothing like they advertised, very disappointing.
Room was very dated not very clean
Great Location for Sandbanks , beautiful views from Restaurant & bedroom..
Nice room , comfortable and very clean .
Good shower
Quiet , peaceful room
(Shoutout to Matt on reception who was very friendly and helpful )
Fridge in room - more like a cool box than a fridge . (Mentioned this on check out and was told they are all like that.)
Room missed being cleaned one day - no-one knew why.
First day at breakfast , staff ( tall guy ) was not very friendly, rather rushed and it was initially unclear where to get certain breakfast items, not very welcoming or helpful.
However the rest of the days ( different staff - Asian staff - sorry didn’t get their names - were charming and helpful)
Shame that the Chinese restaurant at the hotel is now permanently closed.
A option to have room service food would be nice.
View (sea view). Helpful service. Location. Jacuzzi bath.
Small room. Breakfast could have been better (coffee was poor, it needed more choice of breads, full English was OK, but could have offered local products)
The Breakfast had a great choice the staff were friendly and attentive and the balcony view is exceptional
Television in bad location not comfortable trying to watch in bed .overall the hotel is a great location just needs a bit of updating and maintenance especially as it’s only the start of the season . And sound from next rooms is very loud especially if there using the bubble bath we could hear everything
Fantastic location, great reception staff
My wife wanted a Baileys coffee on Saturday night. Amazingly the young barman said they only had half a measure, but still charged for a full one 😳.
Out dated
Hot water took far too long in arriving.
Old out of date wall sockets.
Food menu not enough choices very limited.
A nice hotel with lovely views over Poole Harbour and Brownsea Island. Staff very helpful nothing too much trouble. Good Breakfast. Only thing is that rooms a little dated and could do with a makeover but nothing to spoil our stay.
Location
A bit dated
Room was excellent with a great view of the sea. Restaurant and staff were great.
Nothing
