Misleading parking charges
Pros:

The rooms were clean, and the bathrooms were spacious. Despite being in a central location, the room was surprisingly quiet. I was staying on the 10th floor, which may have helped with the noise level.

Cons:

I stayed for three nights and paid around $500 for the hotel, but was charged $180 for parking. When I arrived, I was verbally told that parking was $20, which is also what the prominent sign at the entrance advertises: “Daily Parking $20.”

The only place I saw the overnight rate was a small sign inside the garage stating $59 for overnight parking

. This was not clearly communicated to me when I checked in, and the much more visible signage at the entrance prominently advertises $20 daily parking. I find this extremely misleading. Parking ended up costing almost half of what I paid for the hotel room itself.

To make matters worse, on checkout day, housekeeping woke me up at 8:30 AM on Labor Day, while I was still a guest and had not checked out. Being woken up that early on a holiday was completely unnecessary and very frustrating.

For a hotel at this price point, I expect transparent pricing and basic consideration for guests. The unexpected parking charge and the early housekeeping interruption significantly took away from the experience.

If you stay here, I strongly recommend confirming the parking rate and any overnight charges in writing before parking your car.

Pros:

Greeted well from check in to check out. Was a vintage vibe but extremely nice. Close to just about everything you could want to do in downtown.

Nous avons séjourné dans une suite très spacieuse, confortable et agréable.

Le seul petit bémol concerne l'absence de bouilloire dans la chambre. J'en ai demandé une à la réception, mais malheureusement l'hôtel n'en disposait pas. Dans un établissement 5 étoiles, la présence d'une bouilloire dans la chambre est pourtant, selon moi, un équipement de base.

Je tiens en revanche à souligner le professionnalisme d'Umar à la réception. Il a été exceptionnel tout au long de notre séjour : toujours disponible, très serviable et d'une grande gentillesse.

Enfin, le petit-déjeuner était excellent, très varié et complet. Il y avait tout ce qu'il fallait pour bien commencer la journée.

Hotel Icon is the best in downtown Houston
Pros:

Hotel Icon is the only hotel I want to stay in downtown Houston. It’s just such a nice hotel! I sleep better here. The rooms are big. The shower is hot. It smells good. The breakfast is the best, and Driss, the breakfast attendant, is an incredible representative of the service you should expect from an Autograph-level Marriott. I have stayed at most of the hotels in downtown Houston, but now that I found Icon, this is my spot.
