Lift not working, hairdryer in room not working, nor bathroom light. Bathroom door swollen and sticking.
Hi, you had to change our hotel to the Queens Hotel as the Royal beach couldn't book us due to unforeseen circumstances whatever that means, however the Queens Hotel and staff were excellent, got a welcome pack for the dog, and they get 11/10, so cant comment or review the Royal beach
I did not stay at the royal beach hotel, it has been requisitioned by the Home office. I stayed at the Queens hotel Southsea.
Cancelled with no notice shut for 6 months
The hotel is not modern but was clean and the staff were some of the most pleasant we have found anywhere, much better than many of the more expensive "wan-a-be" hotels in the UK. The decor is a little bit tired in places and the plumbing in our room was "interesting" but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room was quite large and the sea view was great, to be able to watch ships coming and going and to hear the waves at night was what we stayed here for and we were not disappointed. Again i must say the staff were excellent
Very clean and confortable room.
Wonderful Staff
Lovely stay comfortable bed, rooms too hot,no windows open round hotel.overall a lovely stay excellent breakfast, friendly helpful staff.
Hotel seemed clean and well run. Good position. Very friendly, helpful staff. Freshly cooked breakfasts were very nice. Good number of coat hangers, unlike most places.
Nice sized room with good view over southsea pier.
Staff friendly and helpful.
Evening meal and breakfast were both good.
Third time there and as always very comfortable accomodation.
Excellent views and location a shame the lift didn't work
Good Service, nice food, relatively clean, reasonably comfortable room but small and dated . Hotel is however very old and run down inside and really in need of refurbishment .
Was awaken just after 4 in the morning with bed bugs crawling over me and the bed. We were moved to another room but obviously didn’t feel clean enough to be able to sleep. Had no alternative to stay as was visiting a sick relative and hotel was the closest. I have been offered a refund but I’m still waiting after a week!
Clean and tidy
Our stay was good the only thing we would say is that the hotel needs modernising, breakfast and service was excellent
We arrived at 9pm
We’re advised no food available from the restaurant and no bar food. We asked if we could order a take away and eat in the bar - were told a stern “no we do not allow food from outside”…..we would have gladly ordered several bottles of wine from the bar so the hotel list out completely. We had to walk to a pub along from the hotel. We will not be returning. Hotel was very poor condition and service was appalling. I’m also very disappointed to see that hotels.com rate of £148 when the rack rate displayed at the hotel was £95. Why have I been charged £148 from Hotels.com? I am a loyal client! This is very concerning the difference in room rate. Please explain?
The receptionist Hannah was extremely helpful.
The building is old and tired but the customer service was excellent.
I did feel that the staff in the restaurant could have served the breakfast from the buffet to reduce the amount of guests handling the serving utensils rather than standing in the corner chatting.
Breakfast was very good with a very good selection of hot and cold food.
Location was excellent just across the road from the South Pier
The Number 23 bus to and from Portsmouth is near to the hotel.
.
Considering how outdated this hotel is, I can't fault much of it. Breakfast area and actual breakfast was something out of the 80s but my little single bed was fine. It basically needs modernising
Hotel needs a re-vamp as it's outdated but it is on the beachfront and it was clean and comfortable. Windows need cleaning as paid for sea view but windows were dirty. Very large room with a plug in fan not air con and unable to open windows but nice comfy big bed. Pillows too high for me and no alternative in the wardrobe. Coffee and tea making facilities and biscuits provided also decent toiletries in the large bathroom. We arrived late afternoon so no parking left and had to pay £12 to park on the street. Bars and restaurants are a 15-20 minute walk away. Staff on front desk very friendly and polite.
The Hotel is on the seafront had a lovely sea view room
