Sehr großzügige Zimmer und alles in sehr gutem Zustand. Toller Garten mit großem Poolbereich. Schöne Lage nah an der Uferpromenade. Sehr gute Restaurants und top Frühstücksbuffet. Super freundliches Personal. Sehr gute Anbindung an die Stadt, da Bushaltestelle direkt vor der Tür.

Der Höhepunkt - ist der Baldachin in der Anlage - sogar drei davon - das hat mich dorthin geführt - Zu Ehren der Verborgenen Insel - was sich im Ewigen Frühling Zeigt - zu lösen für die Zukunft

the quality and service here is excellent the staff are very interested in how you are in every department they was always a hello , the layout and location is great with plenty to around the hotel access to the seas great also, couldn't fault the place and i'm very fussy about hotels .

Nice hotel and easy stay - with a beautiful garden, a heated pool, lots of sun chairs - and also very nice buffets, morning and evening, with well prepared and various food, - and we we’re lucky to have free parking all days. The room was spacious and had a view to the garden and the sea.
Busses to Funchal and the rest of the island right outside the door and two supermarkets right outside/near the hotel.
There was entertainment every evening in the bar (live music from 21.00 to 22.30) but still it was a nice and quiet stay - and lots of places to sit down and have a cosy time.
I saw mostly my own generation + 50 years, but more family’s arrived at start Easter week and it seemed that the hotel came up with some entertainment for them also, but we leaved to early to experience that for more than one day. Maybe there would be more (happy) noise with more kids/families…
We had a wonderful week at the hotel, - and driving round the beautiful island on both small roads, to get stunning views, and bigger roads / tunnels to get somewhere quicker - in a rented car - and using Yellow Hop on and Of Busses for going round the Funchal area, as parking seems to be a problem there. They have a ticket sale right next to the hotel.
If you like to walk, be aware with old legs, that everything is up and down everywhere. In the old town of Funchal there is okay to walk around, but getting around from A to B is easier by car or bus. A small walk on the map can easily be a hard one in real life going uphills - I just say…
But still it was a wonderful experience. Hope we will be back some time!

great hotel and in a great location. Have been many times and will definately return. Funchal and Madeira has all you need for a first class holiday destination.

Personal war sehr hilfsbereit. Die Anlage ist wunderschön. Die Zimmer sind sauber. Der Ausblick aus den Zimmer mit direkter Meersicht ist atemberaubend. Das Massageangebot und der Spa-Bereich ist top.

Our stay at Porto Mare was overall very pleasant and enjoyable, with many highlights – but also a few minor drawbacks.

We would especially like to highlight the outstanding service throughout the hotel. A very friendly young gentleman at the reception kindly arranged a complimentary upgrade for us, even though the hotel was quite busy – something we truly appreciated.
The spa team, particularly Anna, Claudia and Monica, also did an excellent job – the massages were outstanding.

The hotel grounds are spacious, beautifully maintained and very inviting. The view from our upgraded room was absolutely stunning. Both breakfast and dinner buffets offered a good variety and were of high quality, and the spa area was clean and perfectly adequate. Overall, the staff were consistently friendly, attentive and professional.

A very thoughtful touch was the birthday surprise with a card and a bottle of champagne. Although I do not drink alcohol, I still very much appreciated the gesture – and the alternative of fresh fruit juice was equally kind and considerate.

That said, there are a few points worth mentioning:
The complimentary beverages in the room were very limited (one bottle of still water and two colas for the entire stay), as were the coffee capsules. Any additional drinks had to be ordered via room service at extra cost.

While the food quality was good, the pricing is on the higher side – particularly the dinner buffet, which came to around €85 for two people including drinks. In general, prices within the hotel (for example at the pool bar) felt quite high, although this partly reflects the overall price level in Madeira.

Additionally, some areas of the hotel are starting to show their age. Our room had visible signs of wear (e.g. the bathroom door), and the extensive carpeting throughout the hotel showed some stains, which slightly detracted from the otherwise well-kept appearance.

👉 Conclusion:
A very nice hotel with excellent service, beautiful surroundings and many positive aspects – with some minor drawbacks regarding pricing and certain details of the facilities. Overall, we would still recommend it for a relaxing stay in Madeira.
