The Gardens Hotel

Quaint, beautiful and serene

This hotel is amazing. There were 4 of us (my husband and our 2 adult children (24 and 27). We stayed in the Poolside Cottage (Cottage 1 & 2), which had 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms with a pull-out couch in the living room and a large kitchenette and air conditioning, which was a must for us! Outside our cottage was a pool, shared only by the people in the other cottages. There is also a larger pool in the common area, where there is also a bar, seating area (where an amazing, included breakfast is served) and grounds that are right out of a tropical fantasy. There is also nightly entertainment, sometimes outside, sometimes inside. The inside sitting area is lovely and has a wine gallery (self-service wine bar!) The staff is incredible. We were greeted by Judith, who treated us like family as soon as we arrived. Annette, who served us breakfast and sometimes tended to the outside bar (among other things), was amazing. Funny (loved to joke around with you) and the hardest worker I have ever seen. A true gem. The rest of the staff was also amazing. The cottage and everywhere on the property was well cared for and very clean. It is one street over from Duval Street, but you would never know it. Quiet in its own little oasis. You can find properties less expensive, but for what you get, it was well worth it. We had an incredible vacation in Key West and would highly recommend The Gardens Hotel for your stay!

Beautiful grounds. Pools were very nice. Staff was mostly very friendly. Breakfast was excellent. Very convenient to everything.

Private lovely grounds no children

The Gardens is perfectly located close to the restaurants and shops but far enough away to feel like a retreat. The common areas are comfortable and surrounded by lush greenery . We were in one of the "historic" rooms in the main building and had daily housekeeping ( not something to be taken for granted these days) plus a small refrigerator. The bathroom was very small but the bed was comfortable and the linens very nice.Next time we will likely try to get one of the King Garden rooms which are larger and have a bigger bathroom. Key West is a noisy place...airplanes , traffic, etc can be heard pretty much anywhere you stay , but the lush surroundings seem to buffer the noise. The staff was very helpful and we took advantage of the concierge to schedule a sail and they were and excellent resource. The office was staffed every day and there is live piano music every evening from 5 til 7 with a serve yourself wine room as well as a hosted full bar. Things close down early which suited us fine . We did not have a car and did not miss one at all, in fact the ability to walk and ride everywhere is one of the charms of Key West. Morning breakfast is included and is served from 8:30 until 10:30 so you can get out for a nice walk or ride before the sun is too strong and still get back in time to have a served breakfast. Wife and I with daughter and husband in 2 br poolside cottage. Have stayed over new years now multiple times . As good as it gets !

It was a great stay with my wife and son. We stayed for a night but would definitely return. The pool and turtles were uniquely comfy.

Wonderful accommodations and location. Our vacation could not have been better. Staff was extremely attentive and polite. Would definitely recommend and would stay again.

We truly do not have the words to do this lovely slice of heaven justice. My hunny surprised me with a trip to Key West - our first time here- and we stayed here for 4 nights. This is the most beautiful hotel we have ever stayed in- bar none. The ladies at the front could not have been kinder or more helpful … thank you Rhoda !
The gardens and paths surrounding the houses/rooms are full of little secrets and treasures- look out tor the tortoises and sweet resident kitty🩵
Our room was #9 upstairs ( no elevator in case you need to know). It had comfy chairs out front we relaxed in and made our daily plans. The room was perfect- comfy bed and pillows, plenty of room to spread out. Home away from home feel everywhere.
The pool area has many lounge chairs and umbrellas.. trust us, you’ll want to spend at least one afternoon soaking up the vitamin d here. They have piano music most nights and a self serve wine bar. There is a full bar in the pool area too. The location cannot be beat- off Duvall but walkable to everything you’d want to do. We did a few excursions and easily walked to the docks. Lots of good restaurants and bars near by.
We are already planning our next trip which will include staying here.

Wow! We had an amazing stay at The Gardens Hotel. It's a beautiful and intimate hotel. Once you step inside the gates, you would never know you are only a block away from Duval. It was nice to be close to everything but able to escape into the beautiful gardens and the serene atmosphere of the hotel. We loved the turtles (one laid eggs while we were there), the birds, and the sweet cat, Lucy! The staff was warm and welcoming. The heated pool with the holiday themed floats was a great place to chill. Having breakfast included was a great start to the day. The room was comfortable and the bathroom was well-appointed (even had a magnifying make-up mirror). It was a really quiet stay. We were not disturbed by any noise during the four nights. I think the price for the hotel was a great value since breakfast was included and we were able to walk everywhere so no need for a car or Uber. We had such a great stay that we're already talking about making the pre-Christmas trip to Key West a tradition and will definitely stay at The Gardens any time we visit KW. These accommodations were superior. Will definitely return. Hosts and staff are very friendly and rooms are delightful. Gardens are an added bonus.

Wonderful stay. Very convenient location one block from Duvall Street. Beautiful property. Clean, comfortable room. Tasty daily breakfast included, available indoors or on the patio. Staff are so friendly and helpful. Bonus feature: self-serve wine bar with great options. Loved this place and will be back!

An absolute gem of a hotel on stunningly beautiful grounds. The staff is friendly and the daily jazz is a lovely way to start the evenings. The complimentary breakfast every morning is delicious and our waitress Annette was the best, offering local suggestions. Even though it rained two days we were here it was just as lovely grabbing our books and sitting in the gazebo by the pool hearing the running water of the ponds and the on site birds. Would not have expected the tortoises either. You get much for your money at this hotel. We will definitely be back!

incredible place - located 2 blocks off the busy traffic area and near the center, so an easy walk to either coast - everyone there was wonderful to deal with.

Second stay here. Can’t say enough good things about the staff, amenities, location, and property. It’s such a great place.
