The breakfast items were in some cases inferior. Eg the scrambled egg was like reconstituted dried egg and the sausages weren't very nice.
All the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean, quiet and comfortable. Breakfast is pretty good.
We accidentally booked the wrong date. We had booked on a non-refundable basis, but were disappointed that Holiday Inn wouldn't let us move to the night before. We had to book an extra night at a considerably higher rate. Would have been even more if we'd added a date in our booking.com reservation, so we booked a second night separately. Fair enough, but not great customer service. Decided to stay two nights anyway.
The room on our first night was at 28.5C when we entered and turned on what we thought was the A/C. It was 29C 90 mins later. Windows can't be opened more than a crack. Went to ask if there was a problem, to be told that we should have been warned that there was no A/C in that room, and that it was 'air cooled'. Unfortunately on the top floor it was completely ineffective. We were able to move rooms the following night to a much more comfortable room on the first floor. Moral of this story - check you're getting a room with A/C when it's hot!
The staff were great about handling the issue we had.
Only other grumble is paid parking at what is effectively an out of town hotel, but £6 is not ridiculous, especially in Cambridge, and there are 4 EV charging bays, which is good to see.
Location, secure parking and quality breakfast offering was good
Attention to detail there were unnecessary wants of repair banging entrance door to the kitchen which required little attention to resolve. Scuff marks on the walls which a touch of paint could conceal. Plus the air conditioning didn’t work as a fan was provided in the room being on the ground floor we did not want to leave the windows open

Would not recommend. False advertising of having air con. I purposely booked this hotel due to having parking facilities, air con, breakfast included and walking distance to city centre. Walk to city centre was awful, felt unsafe. Parking was fine at a charge of £6. Air con was non existent. There was a desk fan in the room which was of no help as it just circulated the ridiculously warm air round the room. I have never experienced a hotel room so uncomfortably warm! Lots of noise from 6am onwards of room doors opening/ closing, of which didn’t disturb us on this occasion as it was too warm to sleep. Checked out just after 7am without having breakfast as just wanted to leave and have fresh air after the unbearable room conditions. Would not recommend.

Das Zimmer war deutlich teurer als auf Booking ausgewiesen, wir waren vor zwei Wochen schon mal da da hat es gepasst. Dieses Mal haben wir einen deutlich höheren Preis bezahlt, was überhaupt nicht nachvollziehbar war. Damit passte Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis auch nicht mehr voreinander.
