The hotel is nice but very dated
Everything was a bit old and dated. The hotel definitely needs a revamp
Property had traditional style
Service
Rooms could do with modernising but comfortable
A bit old fashioned but the bedroom was very clean, as was the bathroom with clean towels each day. The staff were very friendly, polite and plenty of them at breakfast time to clear tables and bring tea and coffee. The breakfasts were buffet style but served to you which was good as you didn’t have everyone touching tongs and serving spoons. Plenty of choice. The bar meals were exceptional. First night we had the sharing platter and there was more than enough for 4 people never mind 2. Staff wrapped up what we left as a takeaway. Second night I had fish and chips and we could have had one between us as we again couldn’t finish it. Loads of parking and so central for all the attractions. All in all we will definitely be back. Great value for what we paid.
Nothing except we were on the 3rd floor and the lift was a bit temperamental as they were waiting for the lift engineer to arrive.
Free parking
Tired public areas and room was grim. Bedroom smelt strongly of air freshener. Badly in need of investment everywhere, very tatty.
Staff very good, looked smart , pleasant cheer nature , came across as well trained. Downstairs decor on keeping with a Edwardian / Victorian hotel
Furniture a little dated in bedrooms ,
Close to Harrogate town centre but far enough away from any noise hotel staff were friendly helpful
Nothing
Beautiful building in an excellent location. A short walk into the town centre. Near enough to walk to the train / bus station. Big bedroom and bathroom. Not modern, but everything worked fine. Breakfast in a very large, sumptuous dining room was excellent.

This is a very characterful old hotel. The staff are excellent. The rooms are spacious and clean. If you want modern this is probably not the hotel for you but if you enjoy comfort, space and tradition you will enjoy it. We did. The stained glass windows are beautiful. Additionally, you don't have to pay to park your car, which the majority of other hotels require you to do.
The paintwork needs refreshing.
Fantastic service by the staff, lovely breakfast and room.
Don't know
Great value for money, good food and cozy bedrooms! Pretty much does what it says on the tin!
Very slow WiFi signal
Very friendly and helpful staff and the breakfast buffet was excellent. Kettle, tea, coffee and biscuits were in the room, quite a rarity these days. As was an actual room key on a large fob. Lots of free parking and a great location. The bed was very comfy. The Cairn is great value.
The Cairn is a bit tired and could do with a lick off paint. It's a big old building though and maintenance must be a nightmare. My room was a bit dark but ok.

Lovely hotel, decor could do with a freshen up.
Not enough plug sockets in the rooms.
