Terrible Experience – Dirty, Outdated, and Serious Security Concerns

My stay at The Chelsean New York was extremely disappointing, and I would not recommend this hotel.

The hotel is old, dirty, and in desperate need of renovation. The rooms are tiny, poorly maintained, and have terrible sound insulation, making it difficult to get a comfortable night’s sleep.

My biggest concern was the lack of security. The hotel has a bar open to the public, and the atmosphere around the premises made me feel uncomfortable and unsafe as a guest. I observed people and activity that raised serious concerns for me, including what appeared to be possible drug-related activity. There did not seem to be adequate security measures to ensure guests felt safe.

The nighttime front desk service was also unacceptable. On one occasion, the staff member at the desk had his feet up on the counter, showing a complete lack of professionalism and customer service.

Overall, the hotel falls far below the standard expected for the price and location. Between the cleanliness issues, outdated facilities, tiny rooms, poor soundproofing, unprofessional service, and security concerns, this was a very unpleasant experience.

I would strongly advise travelers to consider other accommodation options in New York. Do not rely on the hotel’s location alone when making your decision; cleanliness, comfort, professional service, and guest security matter just as much.

La ubicacion es simplemente perfecta. La habitacion tiene unas camas comodas y el personal del hotel es muy amable.

Es un hotel sencillo y conveniente para dormir y estar a gusto, no es un hotel bonito con muchos servicios pero cumple su funcion.

The location is great, and I had a top floor room which had great views of the southern Manhattan skyline.

Cons:

For the price, it really didn't offer much value. The rooms were acceptably clean but clearly not updated in a while. The lobby isn't very welcoming with the night club being right there.
