Check in is 3pm. I had messaged the hotel to say we might arrive around midday, we had a tour of Old Trafford at 1pm so could we park our car ahead of booking in and were told no problem (driving from Plymouth so unsure of traffic conditions) but actually arrived just before 11. We went to reception to advise we were earlier than expected and again that was not a problem. I took a chance and asked if it was possible to book in right then. The very helpful chap on reception called house keeping who confirmed a room had been cleaned, he went up to double check it and then advised he was giving us a free upgrade from a twin room to a superior room with twin king size beds, many hotel beds i've slept in have been way to hard, my bed was extremely comfortable. We ate some very nice steaks in the restaurant for dinner - knife through butter - and a decent cooked breakfast to set us up for our 5+ hour drive home next day. All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. All in all a great stay and will be my first port of call when we come up to Manchester next season for a match.
Like many hotels it is a little 'frayed' around the edges, touch of paint here and there required. There was scaffolding up so maybe there is a refurb ongoing.

It didn’t smell very nice in the corridors and room near a fire escape wasn’t great as it kept getting used so was a lot of noise

More choice of eggs there was only scrambled that wasnt very tasteful

Water from the shower didnt get warm enough, pillows on bed need replacing as very flat
Very friendly and helpful staff allowed us to leave our luggage many hours before check-in and pick it up calmly in the evening after the match.
The area was very quiet and peaceful, and the hot water in the shower was always a plus.
Close to metro. Breakfast is very well. Friendly staff. Possibility to park the car cheap was very nice.
It is an old building, beautiful and constructed into a hotel. “Sound insulation “ was not the best, you can hear tv and sound from the room next door.
