I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Emporia, VA from 7/31–8/3/2026. Overall, the hotel itself was nice; however, the swimming pool was extremely disappointing and unacceptable.
The pool was in deplorable condition. It was visibly dirty, the water was brown, and it had a strong unpleasant odor. My five grandchildren, ranging in age from 7 to 14, were unable to swim and were very upset. It was especially disappointing given that this is an indoor pool and we expected it to be clean and properly maintained.
I am shocked that the pool was allowed to be in such poor condition. This experience significantly impacted our stay, and I feel it does not reflect the standards that should be associated with your brand. At minimum, the pool should have been closed until properly cleaned and treated, as this situation feels misleading and unacceptable.
We were very disappointed with this aspect of our visit, and I believe management should address this issue seriously to ensure it does not happen again. I will be contacting corporate to report our experience.

Staff was courteous and efficient. Grounds were clean, well marked, and easy to navigate. Room was clean, specious, and comfortable. Location was easily accessible. Plenty of food, gas, and grocery options nearby.
