Overall this is a beautiful property with very nice amenities.
However, I must say we were very disappointed that the pool was closed for a private spa event the first night we were there. We are traveling with our children and specifically choose a hotel with a pool to enjoy that amenity. That seems pretty inconsiderate of your full guest list to shut down the pool and there was only a tiny sign indicating it was closed on the pool level.
THEN, two nights later we attempted to enjoy your bar area only to find out that IT WAS CLOSED for a private event. Again, what about the rest of your guest list? Is there not ANY other option for a bar? Or, location for a private event? We are paying far to much to be staying at this level of hotel to not have access to the amenities.
On the positive side, the check in experience was excellent and the housekeeping staff was amazing. The room was always cleaned impeccably and the common areas were well kept. We also enjoyed the gym.
The location is perfect. You're walking distance to the National Mall, restaurants, the Wharf and the Jefferson Memorial. The staff were among the best we've met at any hotel. The views from our room were unmatched.

The staff here is unbelievable! The room is well appointed. It's so beautiful. I was greeted by the most amazing team member and I had to share her name is Lenetra. Hope you have the pleasure of meeting her, five stars all around!
Sofia at the concierge desk was a lovely help. Room was always perfect.
Awesome hotel. I enjoyed the pool and the gym. Be careful to read your bill on check out as they to hide fees. Other than that the experience was awesome.

Great location and very walkable to the Wharf and Tidal Basin. You can also get to the mall in about 20 minutes. This is a Luxury hotel that is also family friendly. Room had a view of Jefferson Memorial. There is a 4 foot heated pool on the spa level with lots of lounge space. Wish we could have eaten at Dōgon while we were there.
Location, room, quality of the appliances and design, atmosphere, and staff are well worth the nightly rates. Fantastic hotel. And dining at Dogon was EVERYTHING! Michael, Dōgon’s GM, Jheneal, Dogon’s host, Malik, Bellman, and front desk check-in, yes lord. Certified.

This was my second stay at The Salamander. Both experiences were excellent. Notably, as I was getting out of my cab this most recent time, as soon as I stepped out, Marco greeted me and said “Welcome back”. He remembered me from my stay last year. It was quite impressive.
Excellent location in Washington DC. Very clean and a well maintained lobby and guest rooms. Housekeeping was daily and kept the room extremely clean and tidy. Excellent bathroom amenities and offered both a shower and bathtub. Staff was professional and very friendly.
