Great Location, Upselling Not Worth It
Pros:

The hotel location is phenomenal - it is 15 minute walk to downtown Carvoveiro, it’s a few minutes from walking the boardwalk along the coast, and we got it from the train station by Bolt.

That said - the hotel is clean, but feels a little dated for what you are paying. We also upgraded to have the ocean view and we had a “sideways” view of the ocean that was obstructed by construction activity because of a collapsed wall. We were not planning to rely on the hotel as the “key” to million dollar photos, but didn’t feel like the extra cost was worth it.

Would reccomend for the location, but don’t set expectations based on price.

Disappointing.
Pros:

We were hear as part of a big celebration and travelled with our young family. The hotel fell down on check-in, room wasn’t ready when we arrived, the ocean view we’d paid for was totally obscured by building work and there was a snake underneath the pool decking which was a constant concern then when the kids were playing.

Pictures don’t do this resort justice
Pros:

We spent a few days at this resort and it was beautiful. The views are breathtaking. We upgraded to the ocean and pol view and it was so worth it waking up to the cliff and ocean views every morning.

This resort is 10 mins from the beaches both ways and the resort provides a complimentary tuk tuk service to and from the beach which is so convenient.

They have an excellent spa and sky bar which we enjoyed in the evenings.

The breakfast is incredible!! Everything from your omelets made while you wait to a cakes and pastry corner with the best variety of freshly baked goodies . You get to enjoy this while taking in those stunning views.

Staff are super friendly and helpful which was a nice touch . Overall a very beautiful stay and we have already recommended this resort to friends and family hoping to visit the Algarve.

Just delightful!
Pros:

Brilliant hotel - staff couldn't have been more friendly or helpful.
Wonderful room - kept well stocked even if we didn't have the room cleaned daily. They offer free drinks if you opt not to have the daily maid service!
The only downside was the intermittent fire alarms; even once automatically closing all the fire doors in the corridors. Fire alarms at 3am aren't funny even if they only last 20 seconds.
We were surprised there wasn't an accessible beach after seeing the photos, but the hotel provides free tuktuk transport to hte local beahes and to Carvoeiro

Great for families!
Pros:

The resort has an amazing view, the breakfast buffet was delicious and had a wide variety of food items. The hotel felt very clean and had a few restaurants onsite to chose from. I recommend booking a room with sea view to really enjoy this resort.

The kids club on site was great and Ms. Sayury was very creative, welcoming and sweet with our boys ages 2 and 5. There’s a large green area with a playground that our kids really enjoyed. The resort is also a 10 min walk to town and there are numerous beaches and caves nearby to visit. Overall, I highly recommend Tivoli for families.

A holiday to relax
Pros:

We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday .We didn't experience any major problems at all.Although it did take about 4.5 hours to get into our room.We didn't think hotel provided flannels in bathroom until day 5 ,when we got one .The fridge in mini bar didn't work all the time.Otherwise we had a great holiday in what we thought was a very clean hotel throughout with friendly helpful staff .The location of the hotel was brilliant with fabulous views out to sea and good boardwalk stroll into town.

Good hotel, but spare us the finance bros
Pros:

The hotel enjoys a stunning location and rooms are generally quite clean and well looked after. The restaurants were good and staff were kind and attentive. Overall, this should’ve been a great holiday, but…

When we arrived we found out we were sharing the hotel with a large group of finance bros from a Pennsylvania-based investment firm. They held loud parties every night and thought it was funny to knock on doors in the middle of the night to wake people up. Their final night at the hotel featured a large outdoor party with a DJ blasting music and some kind of laser light show, ensuring most of the other guests were unable to sleep.

If you do decide to come here, do some due diligence and ask if there will be any corporate meetings or conventions during your stay. You’ll be glad you did.

Overall a lovely experience, especially the staff!
Pros:

Staff are exceptionally kind, helpful, and friendly! Beautiful view from sea-view rooms; garden view room quiet and peaceful. Complimentary tuk tuk to certain beaches/spots was very helpful. Food was delicious.

Cons:

No direct access to beach or trails from resort which surprised me - you have to walk on some pretty busy car roads first to get anywhere. Showers can’t close all the way so have to be very careful otherwise water gets out. I stayed in a sea view room first before moving to the garden view, and the sea-view room I was in didn’t have a desk inside the room so I had no where to try and sit and use my laptop or eat a snack (but the garden view did). With the sea view room there was a table and chair in the outdoor terrace but I didn’t always want to be outside. These things surprised me given the resort’s rating and price.

Disappointed
Pros:

Location of the hotel is great right next to the 7 valley hiking trail, which was a good hike over rocky terrain and my wife doesn't like all the steep slopes and cliff edges but she coped very well and enjoyed the hike and beautiful scenery.

The Gurkha kitchen in Carverio is an excellent restaurant you must go there the food is absolutely phenomenal hence 4.8 on trip advisor.

Our cab driver from Uber suggested that if you want to eat well do your research and choose restaurants that have 4.5 stars and above.

This was so true as we went to a few Jota Lita and Carverio Steakhouse Faustinos terrible had to send the food back because a steak at Jota lita was so salty and a lamb dish at the steak restaurant was stone cold.

We were looking for the real taste of the Algarve but Carverio failed to deliver on many occasions with the food ,even though there are many restaurants within easy walking distance from the hotel .

Do not go to the two restaurants either side of the beach in Carverio it is a tourist trap and you will be conned.

Now to the hotel our room had mould on the grouting of our shower enclosure, which was big but could have done with a double sink as the hand soap was at the furthest end of the bathroom and not next to the sink where you would think it should be.

Housekeeping is not great debris left on the floor in our bathroom and not cleaned properly. The housekeeper even left her key in the lighting box .

The view was great as we had a room on the 4th floor with an ocean view but this was spoilt by the ongoing building works to shore up a collappsed cliff.

The other downside to being on the 4th floor with great views was the disturbing noise from the buffet restaurant above our room. The noise woke us up constantly from 7am to 10.30am with people constantly pulling out chairs and tables.

The pool area is ok, but the sun loungers are so uncomfortable ,I don't expect this from a 5 star hotel .

The towels for the pool are often dirty and not been washed properly.
Lots of people take about 3-4 towels each and iam sure they just refold them when people put them in the dirty basket and don't wash them at all.

There were broken tiles around the restaurant area of the pool for around 5 days into our stay and only on our 5th day was a cleaning sign put over the broken tiles to avoid people tripping up or even cutting their feet on these jagged tiles.

Bar staff were constantly walking past these broken tiles and they couldn't even be bothered to report this . Staff training amiss I think!!

As from previous comments about the food at the Tiovoli it is very expensive for what you get and peoples expectations are lowered even more when they receive the food .

We had the buffet breakfast which to be honest wasn't that great .When you arrive at the restaurant for breakfast you are taken to your table to sit down by a waiter.
He doesn't take any Tea or coffee orders and just walks away you have to wait for another waiter to come over and ask you if you would like tea coffee or orange juice and this always took forever.
The waiters also serve the orange to you but all other juices are help yourself. Very strange!!

The omelettes are always cooked by the same chef and he still burns them every single time no wonder customers are always leaving them on their plates.

The hot breakfast sits under closhes which in turn steams the food so you end up with soggy hash browns and scrambled eggs that have all the protein seeping out of them and looking awful.

On our final day at checkout there were around 4 staff members at the front desk all chatting with each other, the checking out process was done efficiently, we sat down on one of the sofas while we were waiting for our private taxi to take us to the airport and on the sofa opposite us someone had left a dirty tissue and there were some leaves on the floor .

Now if those reception guys were paying attention and doing there jobs properly they would have called housekeeping or put on disposable vinyl gloves to pick up the mess left behind by other guests.

This is totally unacceptable and these comments are what let's this hotel down .

Attention to detail is everything, you are charging a high price for guests to stay here who expect certain standards and upon our stay they have clearly been lacking.
