Good location, friendly staff (but understaffed), comfortable mattress
My partner and I did 5 nights of our 3 week trip here in a ‘superior’ king room. The room itself is very small, particularly if you have large suitcases as the space to hang clothes is tiny, and is in need of renovation with some minor defects. Our TV didn’t work but this was replaced by the friendly staff after asking a few times. Mattress was very comfy.
Unfortunately, we could not enjoy our nights here as this was the noisiest hotel we have ever stayed in. The issue was not other guests who were largely respectful and clearly in the same boat, rather it’s the fact that the windows and walls are so thin you can hear everything both outside and in. It is genuinely like having no windows at all. The weekends get extremely loud until the early hours as there is lots of nearby nightlife. Other reviews mentioned this and it didn’t bother me as I am used to living in a noisy city, but I have never heard anything close to the level of noise here.
Our room looked out onto industrial ventilation units immediately outside the window which clicked on and off all night. Even the sound of rain hitting the metal and echoing is enough to keep you awake. I was up multiple times in the night and never managed to sleep past 4am.
The blinds in the room had been jammed over 3/4s of the way down, meaning almost no natural light. The only hint of this when we booked was a warning that the room didn’t come with a view.
There was also a very poor design in our bathroom (which I see no pictures of on the website). Our toilet had been plumbed in facing the shower, meaning that to sit on it we either had to climb over the toilet with one leg and be sandwiched with the shower, or use it ‘sidesaddle’ (we opted for the latter which was very uncomfortable). It is also a wet room which (understandably) gets very wet.
Bed very comfortable and facilities good
Staff very nice
Rooms dark
Clean , tidy , friendly staff
No complaints
The property is on a quiet road 200m from the Metro. Lots and lots of bars, restaurants, fast food outlets and supermarkets 2 mins walking. The toiletries in the room were very good. About 10 channels for British people to watch on a 31 inch TV. The room was large and a rainwater shower.
Lovely large soft towels and very well soundproofed.
Get the Opal card and app if you’re using the metro a lot. 15 mins walking to the Australian Museum which is a must.
Nothing.
The staff were lovely and the room was cute
I believe we really pulled the short straw with this hotel because I'm almost convinced that if we had any other room we would've loved our stay. However, the walls were paperthin and our room was right next to the lobby and directly across from the office, which meant we could hear EVERYTHING happening in the lobby. We could hear word for word the conversations people were having in the lobby, and each morning I woke up when the staff came in to start their shift because I could hear their keys jingling a metre away. I had a terrible sleep here purely because of the noise level and to top it off the door into the room only partially opened because the bed blocked it from opening all the way (good luck getting a suitcase in). I think it's unreasonable that this room was the price that it was and that they even have people stay in it.
Close to transport to other areas, friendly staff, shops and restaurants near by, bed was large and comfy
Bed sheet was separate to duvet and came off
Everything about The Diplomat suited me.
Very happy.
The bathroom sink needs a wider bench top.
Nice clean good staff helpfull

Good location, close to Kings cross train station and lots of cafes and food around.
Very helpful staff

Very dark room, poor lighting plus bars on the window gave a feel of being in a prison cell!
