Starting to like Kimpton brand so happy they had a nice spot in New Orleans. Easy access from the airport bus (stopped right in front $1.25 btw)
Our check in process was friendly, professional but did have a small snag. We used a credit card that had an upgrade included, but they didn’t check us into an upgraded room. We asked about it then transferred to a suite on the 17th floor. Much nicer and what we have cone to love with this hotel & CC partner.
Big comfortable bed, nice bathroom but the stall shower didn’t have a full (glass) closure so the floor got pretty wet daily.
Sitting room with desk, tv and couch makes hanging out more enjoyable. Closet, mini fridge, snack bar, safe etc. The hotel offered free bottled water and canned beer!
The happy hour in the Peacock room had some good drink specials like $8 old fashion and some $5 snacks. The room is beautiful especially the bar.
Breakfast (also included w/Cc) was dynamite. The Brunch menu had several tempting local fare items. The shrimp and grits were great. The crawfish beignets rich and delicious. Wife was pleased with eggs Benedict and a waffle. Frank was our server and did a fine job.
We opted for the coffee shop day three with excellent lattes and Ayu bakery croissant and cinnamon buns. We had to make a trip to the bakery during our stay!
Thought the location was great for bourbon street and frenchman street clubs as well as some east side spots like Tiptinas & Commanders Palace.
Would def stay here again for good room, excellent onsite food and easy access to street cars and buses.
If you're heading to NOLA, stay here. We were steps away from Bourbon Street and the Frenchmen Street jazz scene. During Mardi Gras, the parades passed directly in front of the hotel, yet the rooms remained completely silent thanks to great soundproofing.
• Food: Incredible cocktails at The Peacock, great meals at The King, and a "life-saver" cafe (Gospel) with elite pastries.
• Service: Alex C at the front desk was a standout, and housekeeping was flawless.
A 10/10 experience—highly recommended!
Rooms were spacious and clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. I will be back! Valet service was smooth. The food and drinks in the peacock lounge were great.
My best friend and I did a birthday trip to New Orleans and stayed here. Overall I really liked this hotel and I would recommend it, but I did experience some hiccups.
I had booked the king premium historic room, which is in a separate tower. The room was stunning. But it came with a host of issues, including:
1) A heater that was so loud every time it was on that it shook the room and the bed
2) The heater never actually got warmer -- it was set at 72 and after 8 hours it was still 65
3) The shower had a closed door but water streamed out underneath it and soaked the bathroom floor within 30 seconds
4) There were supposed to be bathrobes but the room didn't have one
It also had a view of an office building with a parking garage and that was it, which seems kind of strange considering the cost of the room, but that wasn’t important to me based on the other issues — just worth noting.
I ended up switching rooms because when I went to tell the front desk about these issues they were horrified. (Shoutout to Stormi for being so amazing, and to Bill for helping me transfer everything from one room to another and even hanging my clothes in the new closet!) I was moved to a regular king room which was probably less money than the premium historic, but I didn't fight that because they comped my amenities fee for the entire trip.
The new room was very nice, fairly basic but a decent size and definitely didn't have any of those issues. However, the shower pressure kept going in and out with a weird whooshing type of feel and the heat didn’t ever reach the temperature it was set at. Otherwise, I liked it and especially liked the view as I was on the top floor.
Upon checkout, I had two separate issues with my bill (mini bar charges when I didn't use it, and charging me for something instead of applying a birthday credit from my brother), but I was able to get those resolved.
I do recommend dining at The Peacock Room -- great food and drinks. I'd skip the coffee shop which is incredibly overpriced, and King Brasserie which was frankly just meh.
Depending on your room, this is a good hotel and the service is spectacular.
Design
Waitress was rude for no reason.
It was easy to walk to many of the areas we wanted to see.
Sometimes a little noisy lat at night with loud motorcycles. But not the fault of the Hotel.
This was our second time at Kimpton Hotel Fontenot. A special thank you to Deaveon, Emma and Alexandria who went out of their way to make our stay absolutely perfect. These three individuals welcomed us with a smile, checked in on us and made sure we had everything we needed. They are a true asset to your company and they are why we will come back in the future.
Beautiful and Clean hotel. The onsite amenities are wonderful and staff is friendly. A bit of a walk to the French quarter but nice area of the city.
Vaughn at the front desk made our trip! From the moment we checked in to check out he was our favorite person at the Kimpton! What a blessing to have him on your staff! Should be employee of the year! Treated us so wonderfully. We will be back because of the kindness and hospitality we received from Vaughn!
THANK YOU for hiring this great employee!!!
Exceptional valet service! Lionel and Ross were incredibly accommodating and polite, always anticipating our needs before we even asked. They had the car ready promptly and made the entire experience smooth and stress-free. Truly outstanding service that made our stay even better.
We typically stay at The Four Seasons, however there was no availability at the time of a last minute booking. The hotel had good reviews on Trip Advisor, however I am perplexed how these reviewers gave the hotel a rating of more than 1 star. Upon check in, we noticed the in room refrigerator was not working and the door would not close. Since we were in a rush to leave the room and attend a dinner, we advised the front desk and they assured it would be fixed. When we returned to the hotel, the refrigerator was not fixed, however it was apparent someone was in the room to check it. There were several dirty towels left on the floor directly in front of it and nothing was fixed. This was where the experience turned far worse.
I wanted to shower prior to going to slep and noticed the following; mold all along the base of the shower and it was quite evident this had not been cleaned properly in quite some time. In addition the water pressure was comical, it was on and off in spurts and the pressure went from low, to non existent. When i exited the shower, i noticed paint chips on the floor that were falling from the ceiling. the bathroom was essentially a health hazard and showed real neglect.
When I finally got into bed, we noticed the pillowcases were somewhat dirty and the overall feeling of the room was quite unsanitary.
In the morning we asked to speak to the hotel General manager or a manager on duty. Comically, we were told that there is no manager on duty until 1 pm on 12/26. We left a message for the GM and she never called us back. The Housekeeping Manager was alerted to our issue and offered to move us to a suite, which upon inspection by us had the same musty smell and mold in the shower. She shared with us that we would not be charged for the first night, however we did call the GM at the Four Seasons and they were able to accommodate us, thankfully.
The Kimpton General Manager should be ashamed of themself, not connecting with a guest that had a horrific experience, under conditions that are quite unsanitary.
DO NOT STAY HERE!! THE HOTEL IS FILTHY!!
Great experience. High level of service for the price. Exceptional service from Emma at the front desk especially who found my scarf and worked tirelessly to get it back to me. Great dinner service from Amanda at the Peacock Room and Olivia and Mechelle at King.
I loved the hotel and the food at the hotel was great! I hope I can come back here! The hotel was pretty close to everything fun and I went to a pelicans game and the stadium was only a 20 minute walk away
