On the positive side, the location is excellent, breakfast was enjoyable, and one member of the breakfast team was genuinely exceptional. She was warm, friendly and professional, and deserves recognition, although unfortunately we didn’t catch her name. The breakfast selection was fantastic. The rooftop terrace bars offered a great view of the area.
Overall, we left feeling disappointed.
We chose Axel Hotel because of its excellent location and reputation, and while it certainly felt safe and welcoming, especially for LGBTQ+ travellers, the overall experience simply didn’t justify the price. Our stay cost well over €2,000 for the week, and we expected a much higher standard.
The first disappointment was the room itself. The Booking.com description mentioned a wardrobe/closet, but in reality there was only a small hanging rail with space for a handful of items and no drawers or meaningful storage. Staying for a week meant we had to live out of our suitcases, which became frustrating very quickly.
On arrival we also found that the wall-mounted shampoo and shower gel dispensers were empty, and the bathroom pedal bin was broken. Despite reporting both issues immediately at reception, neither was resolved until two or three days later, even after reminding both reception and housekeeping.
The complimentary bottles of water in the minibar were never replenished during our entire stay.
My wife had also booked the hotel because it was her birthday during our visit. After explaining that the room we’d been allocated didn’t match the photographs we’d booked from, reception apologised and promised to move us to another room on Friday. When we returned, we were simply told that room had been given to someone else and that we should come back again the following day to ask. By that point, we had lost confidence that it would actually happen and decided not to pursue it further.
The room itself wasn’t dirty, but it certainly wasn’t spotless either. It also felt tired and in need of refurbishment, with signs of wear and cosmetic touch-up painting rather than proper maintenance.
Throughout most of our stay one of the two lifts was out of service. Considering the rooftop bar and terrace are also open to non-residents, this meant long waits for the single working lift, particularly during busy periods.
Just had a one night stay following a few days in Sitges. Wished I stayed for longer as Jacquin and the team were so accommodating and hotel is great, especially the roof top bar!

La ubicación y el personal son muy atentos
Las camas son muy duras, sentía el resorte, no me gustó para nada las camas. Dormí muy mal las 5 noches.
Para lo que uno paga en ese alojamiento mínimo debería incluir el desayuno, ya que lo cobran aparte.
El televisor debería ser más grande.
Y por último, sufrimos un robo de una bermuda, pero el hotel se hizo cargo de eso.

They were not flexible about earlier checkin at anytime before 15:00. I had a night flight and landed early morning in BCN, had to wait till 3pm to get my room, while I needed to rest.
We enjoyed our stay in the Axel hotel. With a special thanks to Joaqin & team for the good care during our stay. We will definitely come back.
Location, pool
Bfast looks good but not actually on eating. Some staff really good and professional and others a lot of attitude. There was a drag queen loitering around the hotel and pool on Sunday although very annoying. If she’s on the payroll I’d suggest to his rid of her

Very arogant personal. They gave us room, which doesn't match description on the booking.com.
Definitely I won't come back to this hotel and not recomend for you to stay there. The hotel named numbers of stars are unreal. Maximum 2* hotel. At the bathroom there is no place where to place your stuff, there is no any table or furniture. So you have to keep your stuff on the floor! Students have better conditions in dormitories.
Breakfast also very weak, there was no vegetables.. Think twise if you realy want to stay there
