Coll hotel in a great location
Car parking very expensive
Location is great
We stayed at The Henry Jones Art Hotel expecting a premium experience given its reputation, however it feels well past its prime.
While the building has character, the overall condition comes across as tired and dated rather than charming. Our room was particularly disappointing, dark, inward-facing onto an atrium, with no ability to properly open windows, which made it feel quite closed in.
The exposed timber ceilings could be a great feature, but unfortunately they were covered in visible dust, as were parts of the bathroom ceiling and vent, all clearly visible from the room. This gave the space an unclean and neglected feel.
We raised this at checkout and were told the minibar water would be waived as compensation. However, shortly after leaving, the charge was applied to our card anyway, which left a poor impression.
Overall, it felt like a case of getting guests out the door and dealing with things afterwards. For a hotel at this price point, it simply does not live up to expectations.
Fabulous location, wonderful old building, great staff and amenities
Nothing
This is my third stay and I love it every time. It is always my first choice when I come to Hobart.
The staff were so friendly and enthusiastic. We were able to order room service.
It was a little pricey
The breakfast was very good and the restaurant staff were excellent
Great location and a lovely building, with the main interior space and associated art works particularly striking. Good sized, comfortable rooms.
Kitchen and bathroom areas were a bit on the small side, given the nature of the hotel. The kettle and the coffee machine have to use the same socket, which is a niggle when both are needed.
