I am a Marriott Titanium Elite member and have stayed at many Marriott properties, but this was one of the most uncomfortable and intrusive experiences I’ve had.
Despite having a Do Not Disturb sign clearly displayed, hotel staff entered my room without my consent, later explaining that it was a “wellness check” required when a room has not received housekeeping service for three consecutive days. However, no attempt was made to call my phone, leave a voicemail, or contact me in any way before entering. In an era where every guest provides a phone number at check-in, this should have been the first and most basic step. Entering a guest’s room while Do Not Disturb is displayed is a serious violation of privacy.
Additionally, I had requested and received towels directly the day before, and I had declined housekeeping at check-in, which contradicts the claim that my room had not been serviced for three days.
To make matters more confusing, management later focused their response on the presence of my service dog, asking me to confirm if I was traveling with a dog. However, my service dog was present with me at check-in, so it is unclear why this suddenly became a concern or why it was brought up after the unauthorized entry.
What was most disappointing was the response from Danielle Powell, Director of Operations, who repeatedly justified the situation rather than offering a sincere apology for the intrusion. The tone of the communication felt confrontational rather than customer-focused.
Overall, this hotel is a very poor representation of the Marriott brand. Privacy and respect are fundamental expectations when staying at a hotel — especially when a Do Not Disturb sign is clearly displayed. Unfortunately, that basic expectation was not respected here.
Location. Pool. Staff. Excellent food and service at the restaurant.
Great location
No carpet in rooms makes the room less comfortable
The location is perfect, central to all activities. Super comfortable beds always a nice stay.
Spacious clean room. Very comfy beds. Lovely products in bathroom.
Noisy! From the building work outside. From next door and the air conditioning.
The la petite chef at the hotel was amazing
Great location, beautiful room, clean facility, easy parking, friendly staff.
If youbook through a travel site, you don’t get your loyalty points.
Room for $600 per night was very standard. Not well decorated or even that comfortable.
Breakfast and the room M Club. Great service in there too (not the main dining hall)
Awkward ‘ business centre’, but overall no complaints. Wonderful stay.
Great location
Very responsive staff
Great bar
The elevator was extremely slow and the need to tap your card to get to your floor is a bit unclear and doesn’t always work
Staff were lovely, the beds were comfortable. Room was very clean. Location was great for walking Victoria.
Only one comfortable chair in room…2 people…could use another comfortable chair. If watching tv it was not central to room…difficult to watch from chair across the room and hard on back to sit in bed and watch. Ice machines only every 2nd floor. You had to be very quick with your room key in elevator before selecting your floor or you would bypass your floor. Would have been nice to have complimentary coffee in lobby.
Nothing!
If you have any sense of cleanliness standards, this is NOT the hotel for you. As soon as we stepped into the elevator we knew - gross. I mean, if staff can’t take a moment to wipe down buttons and mirrors once a day, do they really take pride in cleaning rooms? We quickly found out - no. The shower felt yucky, the floors looked unclean (and felt). Everything felt dated and dingy. The key cards were horrible and at one point wouldn’t even start the elevator.
Guests above felt like they were in our room stomping above at 2am.
Overall a horrible place to ring in the New Year. No one wanted to use the shower in the morning so we skipped it and got the hell out. Can’t believe we spent $450. We will never stay here again.
