Breakfast and the room M Club. Great service in there too (not the main dining hall)
Awkward ‘ business centre’, but overall no complaints. Wonderful stay.
Great location, beautiful room, clean facility, easy parking, friendly staff.
If youbook through a travel site, you don’t get your loyalty points.
Great location
Very responsive staff
Great bar
The elevator was extremely slow and the need to tap your card to get to your floor is a bit unclear and doesn’t always work
Staff were lovely, the beds were comfortable. Room was very clean. Location was great for walking Victoria.
Only one comfortable chair in room…2 people…could use another comfortable chair. If watching tv it was not central to room…difficult to watch from chair across the room and hard on back to sit in bed and watch. Ice machines only every 2nd floor. You had to be very quick with your room key in elevator before selecting your floor or you would bypass your floor. Would have been nice to have complimentary coffee in lobby.
Room for $600 per night was very standard. Not well decorated or even that comfortable.
Nothing!
If you have any sense of cleanliness standards, this is NOT the hotel for you. As soon as we stepped into the elevator we knew - gross. I mean, if staff can’t take a moment to wipe down buttons and mirrors once a day, do they really take pride in cleaning rooms? We quickly found out - no. The shower felt yucky, the floors looked unclean (and felt). Everything felt dated and dingy. The key cards were horrible and at one point wouldn’t even start the elevator.
Guests above felt like they were in our room stomping above at 2am.
Overall a horrible place to ring in the New Year. No one wanted to use the shower in the morning so we skipped it and got the hell out. Can’t believe we spent $450. We will never stay here again.
Perfect location downtown, close to activities but quiet. Clean modern room. Very polite staff. Great restaurant for breakfast.
The heat in our room was a bit wonky. We found that it was too cold during the day and too warm at night no matter what temperature we turned it to. However, it wasn’t that bad and we could have asked for help, but we didn’t.
Using both Marriott points and cash, I booked one night at this hotel so we could visit Butchart Gardens to see the Christmas light displays. Our suite was a corner room located on the 12th floor overlooking a corner of the Parliament Building between a condo and a building under construction. The unit had an outside deck but not used as it was too cold to go out. The unit was very spacious with a closet near the entry and one of two doors going into the bathroom. The room opened up to a dining area with dining table and four chairs and living room with an ‘L’ shaped sofa, two table lamps, an alcove with microwave, tea/coffee maker, bar sink and a small refrigerator, and a wall mounted TV.
Off the living room was the master bedroom with a very comfortable king bed with side tables on either side, a chest of drawers on which a TV sat and a love seat at the base of the bed. The bath, accessed from both the bedroom and entry hall had two sinks with mirrors above each and a separate room with a large walk-in shower, a bathtub and toilet. Lighting was good and heating was good. Blackout curtains could cover all windows although closing the curtains behind the sofa took some doing given limited space.
We used the M Lounge on the first floor for an evening happy hour and breakfast. The rooms have no windows and limited wall art making it rather dull compared to other M Lounges we’ve visited.
The location of the hotel is perfect for walking to shops on Government street, the BC Museum, the Empress Hotel and the Black Ball Ferry dock which serves Port Angeles, Washington. From the various ferry landings to the north, it’s a direct route on Highway 1 to reach the hotel.
Overall impression was such that when we return to Victoria to spend the night (s), this hotel will be our destination.
Location right by Conference Centre but off a busy street so quiet at night. Within short walk of downtown Victoria and harbour.
We are Gold Elite members who were celebrating a special occasion, as we informed the hotel when we made our reservations. We were able to have an early check-in around noon, and we were upgraded to a room on the 12th floor.
The room was very clean, including the bathroom. It is not particularly large. Unfortunately, a giant and hideous new building blocks most views from the Marriott as well as next-door hotels. Such a shame.
We visited the restaurant several times for dinner and happy hour. The food was very good and service was prompt and friendly. The portions were generous. We had a large salad, delicious lamb, burger, and happy hour appetizers of calamari and wings.
One morning I came down for coffee and was advised that there was self serve coffee in the restaurant. I pumped 2 cups of regular black coffee and then was given a room charge bill for $10. The server said that the hotel does not provide any free coffee, which really surprised us.
There is a nice indoor pool and hot tub, as well as some gym equipment.
Location is very convenient to Inner Harbor and bus transportation.
All in all, I am not sure that we would stay again, unless the rate was very competitive. For this trip, we did use a free night award that was about to expire, so I suppose it was worthwhile.
The location worked well for us. Walking to restaurants and most places we wanted to visit.
The reserved room was booked for our daughter and was on the 4th floor. There was a strange whirring and clicking sound which became far worse at night not related to air conditioning/fridge. I also note the small fridge was out of the fitted cupboard and placed directly on the hotel floor. After a bad nights sleep, staff immediately provided a replacement room for the next tonight with no question - which is good but I suspect that the room was below standard. My husband and I stayed in a different room which was NOT booked through booking.com and cost more for the same room type but was on a higher floor. Some cushions and a throw would give the room a little personality. Very plain and austere decor.
